  1. you know I’ve been meaning to start a thread for some time on extremely obscure panther facts involving just this sort of thing
  2. “you gotta build through the draft, this ain’t madden, losing teams sign free agents”
  3. I mean the money they are throwing around is probably more indicative of a pass rusher, as well as their seeming lack of interest in any of the big names on what is otherwise a pretty big spending spree But it does kind of feel like TE is a real possibility.
  4. maybe but I’m getting some offensive vibes mike Kaye said recently that he feels it’s a near certainty they take a TE in the draft doesn’t have to be at 8, but…
  5. this was one of the worst free agent pools we’ve seen in a while, especially after a bunch of teams scrambled right before kickoff to get guys home. It was never going to be too exciting.
  6. deep safety class, really would like for r2 or r3 to be a safety, spending on two high profile safeties seems pretty foolish. Get one and start identifying the profile of guy you’re looking for in the draft.
  7. this is one of those glue guys who you win super bowls with.
  8. legal tampering has done nothing to combat illegal tampering
  9. can we get a gif ban in this thread to keep it focused on what we’re all here for, nobody wants to have to sort through all the garbage to find the information
  10. So id actually be curious to see the sets they could drum up with another move guy in Evan engram, two moveable Y pieces that are both geared towards different things could be pretty vicious but they’ll probably stick with sanders especially just given what they had to pay, and JT did enough to earn a real look
  11. Norris had speculated he was probably about to make a lot more money than people expected on the open market. Guy a lot of teams really liked coming out, and has started to come on.
  12. if they do spend big it could potentially be an indicator that they intend to draft one early spending ~20 million avg annually on the position group sounds a whole lot more economical and rational than spending <~20 avg per on one guy
  13. I like both of these guys but the more I hear sensationalist commentary on James Pearce jr the more intrigued I become. he’s the only other “clean” edge rushing prospect in this class, he comes out and destroys the combine and the immediate “leaks” are “yeah, no, not even a first rounder.” that’s suspicious to me. He was talked about as a possible number one overall pick coming into the season. He put up major production. He’s tremendously athletically gifted. Those guys don’t last until round 2. in any case I just want the team to gauge his personality for themselves and not make any hive mind decisions regarding him, this is absolutely the kind of thing where we pass on him and fancy ourselves really clever up until the moment Philly runs the card in to take him at record speed.
  14. With an asterisk for Bruce Matthews, JJ Jansen appears to already be the all time games played leader for a long snapper. Would like a to see a little more juice on punt team though. He’s valuable because he knows special teams the rule book inside and out but he was a little late to the corner a couple times last season. Glad to have him and his experience back though. edit: also Eddie basically said this in his post season wrap up interview, not really a surprise.
  15. scouting department should be completely swept clean if they can’t identify a defensive star in this draft class Talent isn’t determined by who’s projected to go ahead of us in YouTube mock drafts. They don’t mean anything, especially at this stage where the coaches and pro scouts haven’t even gotten involved in the process.
  16. Wouldn’t be surprised. Guys that give you explosive interior pass rush are hard to come by.
  17. I don’t think Graham is this insane pie in the sky tier so many make him out to be. He’s a primarily run defense oriented inside guy and those guys don’t tend to go top 5, even after we spend all offseason hearing how can’t miss they are. Star, DB, Jalen Carter. They’ve all been talked about the same way and they’ve all slipped-right about to our range-as teams opt for pass rushers and pass defenders. this seems like it’s grading Walter Nolen too low as well, he’s crept above Graham in a number of high profile mocks because he’s an interior pass disruptor.
  18. that senior bowl practice rep is getting way too much hype for starters, as I mentioned in the shrine thread, it was that pointed out after the first practice that he had been working at trying to show that move off all day and couldn’t quite pull it off. The reprimand was that he needed to focus on what he did well. Then he went out the following day, pulled it off, and immediately shut himself down for the game. It’s kind of odd. secondly, those one on ones are an OL drill. The defense is there, but they have a fraction of the responsibilities they have in a game. They aren’t playing gap control, they aren’t making sure the QB doesn’t bounce, they aren’t playing the screen. It’s every bit of juice and energy they have just to do the comparatively simple thing of getting around one guy with a pretty generous book on how they can go about it. It’s up to the OL to acclimate and the ones that do really stand out because they are entirely disadvantaged.
  19. There was some talk after the first practice that Green had attempted that speed to power move all day and the discourse was that he just needed to focus on what he did well. Then came out, had that great rep that got everyone talking, then quit out on the game.
  20. Willis didn’t win DPOY and had one less All-pro selection.
  21. this was true for a stretch in the middle of but wasn’t really a storyline as the season went on. honestly if there is any portion of Bryce’s game that you should have total confidence in, it’s probably that. The anticipation, the tight release, the elastic arm angles, the mobility. That’s the whole package in goal to go time.
