He has UDFA tape for his 1/2 down plays at ILB. His run fits and instincts are atrocious. I like him as an edge and a move piece on obvious passing downs, but I can’t believe we are this far in with anybody thinking this guy is going to play any traditional inside backer for any significant snaps.

Jalon Walker will not be playing inside backer. Even if he was 5’10”. He’s a 3-4 OLB all day.

Reason for Liking or Disliking Prospect X at 8 Overall
Swaggasaurus replied to CarolinaLivin's topic in Carolina Panthers
Mason Graham- Doesn’t fit current scheme. Classic 3Tech, UT, One gapper. Tyler Warren- Position value Jalon Walker- Statistically unremarkable and small for a 3-4 OLB. Which is what his position will be. Mykel Williams- Statistically unremarkable. Limited bend and no win now step. Shemar Stewart- Athletic DJ Johnson. Has 0 moves, 0 plan. Mike Green- Character flags James Pearce- Character flags, soft TMac- One note player, didn’t play vs the best. Did a lot as a jumbo slot. Ashton Jeanty- Position value Will Johnson- Lacks explosion, effects recovery Jahdae Barron- Short arms Edit….shitttt I misread the assignment. Give me Tyler Warren because he’s a 10 year plus starter and the sure bet. Was athletic enough to play tailback and QB sneak. Only negative is position value. -
Usually not a trade back fan. This year I feel different and would love a trade down, still unlikely though. Standing pat, give me Walker or Mike Green. Shout out to the soldiers that outright selected Green.

Isaiah Simmons is still a free agent 6'4 240

I think Carter is obviously the preference even with the foot, on paper, on tape, on everywhere. But Walker played obvious passing downs largely as spy or delayed blitz. Sometimes he A gap blitzed off the snap. Could be a higher sack guy in the NFL, got to play more coverage at ILB in the big leagues and I can’t see him doing as much of that. Had he been able to pin his ears back in obvious passing situations like Carter, Green, EZ, Walker might’ve been closer to a 10+ sack player. -
REPORT: Panthers met with WR Hunter Renfro
Swaggasaurus replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I’d you’re a slow white dude, we got space for you!!! AT, Renfrow, draft Restrepo. Hit em with the whiteout package. Absolute assassins in the short game. I actually like all these dudes. Speed is overrated for sure at WR. -
It’s a bit of a different scenario. We hadn’t extended Chuba when we drafted Brooks. XL can still be a starter. You really have 3 starting WR these days. But I understand you can’t be too confident in our front office. BPA is great when your roster isn’t full of holes. Going to have to BPA and fill a gap with our first couple picks.
-
This is why you dumb bastards know more than the “experts” There is no way in hell that we spend our 2nd round pick on a 3-4 DE when we have Derrick Brown and just paid the hell out of Wharton. Maybe if we didn’t suck, but we do. Homie didn’t do his homework.

This has me wayyy more conflicted than you’d think. On one hand, you got a guy with 2 sexual assault allegations, NO CHARGES, guy says he’s done nothing wrong. Then you got a guy admitting to mayo in the coffee? I for sure know only one of those guys kills people’s pets. They both might, but one does for sho. Mayo in the coffee is not the toe in the water of deviance. MF been deranged.
-
The risk here is future allegations. It’s pretty fuged that we all know about it despite him not getting charged. So the blackmailers are going to know about it too.
-
I’d love to be active with trades this year. I’m usually a no trade back guy, there’s no separation from picks 4-20 this year. Zero.
-
Not a big fan of most of these draft guru types. Mostly a bunch of fuging nerds who graduated to sports from Pokemon and still trying to catch them all. That said I really liked the analysis on this one, but don’t get the Stewart rank. Pretty close to my thoughts on these prospects as well. Some days I convince myself it’s ok to draft Walker or Williams and then other days when I’m not high on copium it hits me that we need to draft Warren or maybe Tet or a corner. Then we can draft one of these guys that is *checks notes* more proven in the 2nd/3rd. Bust risk seems so high with Stewart, Williams, and Walker who really never did nothing. Potential for all 3, but damn, the numbers ain’t there on paper for a top 10 pick.

NFL.com's Chad Reuter's 4-round mock draft

Ohhhh this a good one. -
It’s all word salad for people who are caught up on measurements. Watch the tape. He’s an edge rusher, but gives you an added bonus of rushing inside or spying on obvious passing downs. He’s also tenacious in pursuit from everywhere. The role will be similar to Micah Parsons role in Dallas. It’s not a real/project, tweener deal.
-
That analysis of Walker is so contradictory. Need a true Burns replacement which apparently Walker fits? But at the same time he’s too small to be a base edge rusher in the NFL? Walterfootball likes their steaks well done, but not dry.

Panthers Prospect Visits/Meetings (Final Update-4/22)
Swaggasaurus replied to kungfoodude's topic in Carolina Panthers
Do we know that he ever was 320 or was that always bullshit? He doesn’t look 320 on film. Michigan could’ve doctored the #’s, happens all the time. I’m 280 and I think I’ve got him everywhere on size except for titties and love handles. The man has the body of a walk on or fuging D2 player. I’m not buying whatever PED poo is going on in this thread. -
I know the season is after Labor Day, but white pants for me. Pair that with a silver helmet and any color jersey, looks clean. I also like the black socks with the all white.

REPORT: Panthers like Mykel Williams
Swaggasaurus replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
What I like most about his game is he looks like a dementor out there against the run. He floats right through blockers and takes souls of the ball carrier. On the real tho I’d rather have Walker as an Edge. Walker has better outside rush, better dip, better bend. Team leader. Anybody that pencils Walker as ILB has a size fetish. Watch the tape, he’s only effective as an ILB as a spy or blitzer on 3rd/4th down. Or give me Warren as a TE. I want the safe options here. -

Knight Jr one of 3 good ILB in this draft. 1. Schwesinger 2. Stutsman 3. Knight Jr. The rest need big development. -

Holding the ball too long and hero-ing is about all I’m seeing. What else you got for the LOT? That being said….Loveland rated higher on a big board? Not buying it. -

That’s crazy because Cam Ward is elite. He must smell bad or something. At worst he’s #4 on this list. It ain’t adding up for me. -
Reading the Tea Leaves: What Did Morgan Just Tell Us?
Swaggasaurus replied to MHS831's topic in Carolina Panthers
Return of the “smokescreen”. Huddle classic, I get it. i don’t think they are doing any covert operations here. If it’s offense, it’s Tet or Warren. But it’s likely to be one of those Georgia guys as an OLB, it’s the safest bet and probably where I would go if we stay at 8. Maybe even Starks at S if we trade down, although I’d feel the same about that as taking Golden. The wide receiver class this year is weird. You don’t see a lot of route separation on film. Restrepo is pretty good at it, Lacy is good at it but may have to play in prison league. Tet makes all his plays on “fug it Tet is down there somewhere” broken plays. Golden uses timing and speed changes to get him some space, but I’d like some of his routes to be more intentional. I also don’t think you can go in thinking track record. And it’s not just WR, outside of Kalil it’s been a train wreck for pretty much everything in R2 for us. -

Well we might as well draft a 3rd baseman in round 1 if the best we are going to do is Matthew Golden. -

Honestly…heads up I’m taking Jayden. Don’t want a Tee contract. But there’s risk Jayden isn’t there. If you don’t take a first round edge, do you value Jayden Higgins over the Ohio State edge boys? What about Elijah Arroyo? Do we want the big play TE? Plus there is Schwesinger who won’t make it out of round 2 at ILB, maybe Stutsman or Knight Jr lasts until our pick in R3? A lot more variables than this guy vs that guy because it isn’t a sure fire availability.
