Panthers Prospect Visits/Meetings (Final Update-4/22)
Swaggasaurus replied to kungfoodude's topic in Carolina Panthers
Knight Jr one of 3 good ILB in this draft. 1. Schwesinger 2. Stutsman 3. Knight Jr. The rest need big development. -
The Athletic - Post-Combine Consensus Big Board - 3/17

Holding the ball too long and hero-ing is about all I’m seeing. What else you got for the LOT? That being said….Loveland rated higher on a big board? Not buying it. -

That’s crazy because Cam Ward is elite. He must smell bad or something. At worst he’s #4 on this list. It ain’t adding up for me. -
Reading the Tea Leaves: What Did Morgan Just Tell Us?
Swaggasaurus replied to MHS831's topic in Carolina Panthers
Return of the “smokescreen”. Huddle classic, I get it. i don’t think they are doing any covert operations here. If it’s offense, it’s Tet or Warren. But it’s likely to be one of those Georgia guys as an OLB, it’s the safest bet and probably where I would go if we stay at 8. Maybe even Starks at S if we trade down, although I’d feel the same about that as taking Golden. The wide receiver class this year is weird. You don’t see a lot of route separation on film. Restrepo is pretty good at it, Lacy is good at it but may have to play in prison league. Tet makes all his plays on “fug it Tet is down there somewhere” broken plays. Golden uses timing and speed changes to get him some space, but I’d like some of his routes to be more intentional. I also don’t think you can go in thinking track record. And it’s not just WR, outside of Kalil it’s been a train wreck for pretty much everything in R2 for us. -

Well we might as well draft a 3rd baseman in round 1 if the best we are going to do is Matthew Golden. -

Honestly…heads up I’m taking Jayden. Don’t want a Tee contract. But there’s risk Jayden isn’t there. If you don’t take a first round edge, do you value Jayden Higgins over the Ohio State edge boys? What about Elijah Arroyo? Do we want the big play TE? Plus there is Schwesinger who won’t make it out of round 2 at ILB, maybe Stutsman or Knight Jr lasts until our pick in R3? A lot more variables than this guy vs that guy because it isn’t a sure fire availability.

Panthers re-work Adam Thielen’s contract

Hi, I’m Xavier Restrepo. Nice to meet you. if we go slot, that’s my guy. Big play slot receiver. Body composition gives him some protection with the contact slot guys get after catch. -
Panthers sign former Rams MLB Christian Rozeboom

Like the Witherspoon comp. Shaq was good for a couple strong, isolated form tackles per year. Those were super impressive. Total JAG the other 95% of the snaps. Beason/Davis to Kuechly/Davis Panthers fans should know what high level LB play looks like. -

For reference Shaq hit 135 tackles exactly once in his career. We needed a volume tackler badly. -
Elijah Moore is only 24 and has been plagued by the Jets and Browns for his career. 4.35 40 time when he was drafted. At 24, should still have most of that.

Rough Depth Chart (with position analyses)
Swaggasaurus replied to MHS831's topic in Carolina Panthers
LINEBACKER- Schwesinger, Stutsman, Knight Jr. Got to get one of these guys. Huge need. FREE SAFETY- Huge need. 0 on roster. EDGE- Need a sack artist. Huge need. WR- Need a split end. Moderate need. TE- Need high level guy only. Moderate need. Could use an OT, CB, NT to groom. -
I don’t see XL being a top level split end. I’d rather have him in an off ball move position. He was physically bullied multiple times last year. Your team will be handicapped if your on ball receiver is getting his lunch taken. Plus this will free him up for crosses and easier catches he can get some YAC with. I think he’s a ball in the hand guy in the NFL. Think of Deebo, but taller and a pussy.

So what is your draft strategy after today?
Swaggasaurus replied to Panthero's topic in Carolina Panthers
Need two picks in that 18-45 range. It’s not a bad draft. There just isn’t a ton of separation between picks 5-45 or so. -
Tershawn Wharton to sign with Panthers
Swaggasaurus replied to PantherChris's topic in Carolina Panthers
It was an overpay, but he and Milton Williams had similar years on similar snap counts. Ideally we would’ve held out for the draft as there are a lot of those 5tech guys this year. But it’s not a rookie position. One injury away from trotting Nick Thurman back out there even with a draft pick. Quality pass rush from the 5 comes with a price. Yes it was steep, but he gives you more pass rush than a lot of guys at that spot. -

Sure that makes sense on 3rd down. I think he’s a way better edge rusher than his teammate, pretty on par with Mike Green without character concerns. Better than Pearce too. People on here talking inside backer? He’s slow to read his keys and can’t navigate traffic for poo in the run game as an inside linebacker. 15 better inside backers in this draft. -

I read these threads and go back and watch more Jalon Walker and I never see that he’s an elite inside backer on 1/2 down. He doesn’t make high level plays vs the run at that spot. He makes his plays as an edge rusher or as a blitzer/spy at inside backer on 3rd down. Thats fine as a pick at 8, he’s as good an edge rusher as anyone else as 8 and his blitz from inside and spy is a good asset in passing situations. But I keep reading y’all typing ILB, but the film don’t match. Are y’all saying ILB off height and weight or what? A hunch? -

Draft Warren, Tet, or a OLB. Draft Carson Schwesinger and Danny Stutsman. Try to draft Anthony Belton. Go win some games. -
After 1 day of FA, do you feel better about the defense?
Swaggasaurus replied to rayzor's topic in Carolina Panthers
Need an eraser at ILB. Maybe find a way to draft Schwesinger and I’ll feel more confident. -
Panthers re-sign CB Michael Jackson
Swaggasaurus replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Love his competitiveness. It makes a difference and will help our defense with an identity. -
Panthers sign Rams NT Bobby Brown III
Swaggasaurus replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
This makes so much more sense than a 26 per deal for a 5Tech when you’ve already got D. Brown on a big deal. Thank you Patriots. I can’t fathom throwing that much money into that position. Needed the nose, got the nose. -
Former Viking DE Patrick Jones Signed
Swaggasaurus replied to UAPanther's topic in Carolina Panthers
Former first team All Acc. Former consensus First Team All American. Some of your draft crushes didn’t have that. 7 sacks last year. Some of them didn’t have that last year either (coughStewartcough) -
Mike Garafolo: Panthers are in on DK Metcalf trade
Swaggasaurus replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
DK gives you a true split end who won’t get bodied at the line. It’s something we don’t have. XL didn’t prove he was anything near that last year. I think of XL as a big Deebo, but with less physicality.
