Alrighty, where was I? Well, I'm in a peaceful Cornish meadow middling around with some jam, venison jerky and rose after a fantastic sweat lodge session. Meanwhile, PANTHERS. Who I like this year (And some may surprise). Lets get saxy. Let's get jammy. JAM OUT Sax-takes 2021 The two men below are the most critical to our success in 2021: We have an MVP caliber all around player in CMC and one of the more hyped young offensive minds in league circles. This may seem obvious but it is just so important and I deem them our absolute must work x-factors to make the playoffs. CMC needs to go mad and Brady needs to execute in the redzone with the right calls. We've built a defense to compete with the modern NFL offense better than most teams IMO. We're in a really good spot thanks to the last few drafts and one of the better FAs we've seen in our history. The offense is what needs to get going and these two are the ones to lift us. But of course with this in mind, don't forget about #14. He's our guy now. Just razor focus right der. Jermaine Carter Jr. Say whaa? I say, "ohhhh yeah". But for reals, I saw some very nice in game awareness with Carter last year and when he finally got into the lineup instead of the Whitehead guy (adios muchacho), I thought performed rather well with room to grow. He also worked his way out of Rhule's doghouse into the main casa. He's not lightning fast but is very quick and alert, moves around fluidly and he was the one who held the LB unit together IMO. Given Shaq's meh-ness and Perryman's injury bugs (who I think can flourish here), Carter has a shot to be our most effective linebacker. Watch out for him this year. Dan Arnold Another position where I really really like what we may have in Tremble but the Darnold to Arnold connection is real and can thrive. TEs can thrive with Brady's offense, we just had none last season. I can foresee Arnold putting up really good numbers for us and being the type of guy who makes Darnold's job much easier. And I mean c'mon, look at that hair folks. I think we found a gem in him. He's only 26, 6'5, and from Wisconsin. I mean, love Wisconsin. The lakes, the northwoods, snowmobiling to Chequamegons Bar from the old cabin near Cable. Daquan Jones Do not overlook the impact Jones will have as a veteran leader (and good one at that) for a very young and feisty defense. This is something Shaq unfortunately doesn't have the capacity for and we need one. He provides a much needed void in that respect and a physical one next to Brown. However this is another where we should absolutely not look past Braviyon Roy going into year 2. Nixon is a maybe for impact but Roy has a real chance for a lot of snaps behind the Brown-Jones interior. Burns-Brown-Jones-Reddick is a solid Sax Man Predictions: Omar Bayless will make the team and could leap frog David Moore & Shi Smith on the depth chart Sam Franklin may supplant Juston Burris but I will go out on a limb to say Burris is not a scrub some make him out to be. But I like Franklin a lot. Don't discount Hartsfield either but Rhule and Franklin are tight methinks. Sam Darnold will throw min 24 TDs 3800+ yards DJ Moore will have a 1300 8 TD season Brian Burns will be a mad man My bold and saucy: Panthers will go 11-6, make the playoffs, and won't be 1 and done in it either. I feel good about the coaches, defense, everything. We just need Darnold to click and we have something. One more for the road: el fin

Well then is a skinny market my friendo

Ditto on the backup QB. I believe they thought they found a guy that could win games in PJ but it just wasn't the case. But there's not much across the league to be honest. https://www.ourlads.com/nfldepthcharts/depthchartpos/QB QBs that could be cut: Easton Stick Blaine Gabbert My boy Nate Sudfeld ? or maybe Matt Barkley (current FA)

Am curious to how Shi Smith has been doing. Hope he doesn't get lost in a crowded room; I love his energy and potential. If it translates, could be an absolute steal.

Some saxification may be in order...

As mentioned, he's an h-back. He may help out which looks to be in a fullback capacity, but that's him in the hback role. I'm sure he'll also be a TE2 in sets. That's how I imagine him. Could get 15-20 receptions this year but his impact is in an all-around fashion. Could be next to SD in the pistol, could be outside and off the line from Arnold in the traditional H, & could be TE2 depending on the playcall. I don't see us running the I or weak-I much in the Brady spread so don't really need a FB

Madden 22 ranks panthers second worst team in the league

Sucks a HOF all-time coaching name still graces the franchise. All sorts of strange but I'm sure they don't rate guys like Moton, D Brown, Chinn, Burns, Moore, etc. as high as we'd expect them to. I'm sure Bouye and Perryman are randomly ranked top-3 on defense. The funny stand out is the NYG at 78. Like wtf is even on that team? -
It went into the offseason as a huge need but believe we perfectly addressed it in acquiring one of the better young FAs on the market and drafting an adaptive, multi-use beast with great upside.

He’s an exciting prospect. Don’t forget he was the 1st defensive player taken in the entire draft. That better be instant starting w/minimal development needed. Hoping he crushes it.

Darnold to Arnold. Sam to Dan. Pam shmammm whippam thankya ma’am touchdown!

Carolina Panthers Training Camp - Sunday Morning Thoughts and Musings

To play devils advocate with the o line discussion: Don’t forget we play spread and have a much different approach than in Fox and Rivera years to who we look for and how we scheme. It’s not just versatile but they did seek out a particular type. LT specifically is a concern though. Someone I keep forgetting is here started like 4 games at it last season in Trent Scott. I wonder what the temperature is for him at the spot if Erving is iffy/injury bugged. He may be the best option IMO. And then we’ve got Daley; another question mark but one that has looked good before his injuries. Scott-Brady C-Paradis-Miller-Moton The Elf gets put on the shelf. Daley? -
I personally wouldn't mind Matt Barkley (a FA) over what we have by the sounds of it.
-
Shi Smith and Bayless looking pretty baller as well. Loaded WR room. Moore, Robbie, Marshall, other Moore, Shi, Bayless, Zylstra

Yes but only some bears use that super soft toilet paper. Hoping we start pooing behind the right trees.

Holy smokes we have those guys??
-
We have a lot of pure football types and I love it. A few non-rookie names I'm quite keen on: Jermaine Carter Jr. - I think will be a starter Marquis Haynes - Has improved steadily every year, crowded line but he makes plays Morgan Fox - yes please. He's possibly my favorite addition this year FA wise Omar Bayless - Do not sleep on this man folks

Panthers Week 1 opponent top 2 QBs yet to practice
saX man replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Though do note--The majority of the league doesn't budge on this and the NYJ won't cave. They are one of 30 teams that simply don't do contracts without offset language. Wilson is using the leverage likely for a bigger signing bonus upfront. All at the expense of valuable time w/ the team and dragging this into the public eye. Just an odd way to start out. Strikes me as a pretty picky upfront signing tactic but whatever floats his boat. -

Looks like a nice and smooth start for NYJ and Mormon Pickles. -
YGM and Fox both interest me soooo much this year. Fox is a lot better than what we thought we had in Weatherly and YGM could blossom like Suddenly Susan. Suddenly Gross-Matos.
