I’m all for bringing a QB in but who? The FA list is ass. The draft class isn’t great I’d take a flier on Trey Lance and if available in 4th someone like Leavitt or Mateer? I never wanted Dalton back especially at the contract Dan gave him. He’s utterly useless on the field and his cap hit isn’t nothing. He provides nothing. There’s a lot of bad QB play this year and passing is down. Guys worth trading for are most likely not going to get traded. As much as many of you don’t want to hear it our best option is to decline the 5th year option. Give Bryce 2026 while we have him under contract. Then in 2027 either sign Bryce (tag would be an option. Don’t repeat the Darnold mistake) or draft another QB and do it all again

Good lord give it a rest or learn ball You’re not finding another Joe burrow

WR and Edge need to be top priority this offseason. I really like the Cowboys chances if they get into the playoffs. Jerry Jones really lucked out. Quinnen, Pickens and a 1st rounder while losing Parsons is a hell of a deal Philly has Brown and Smith. Dallas has Pickens and Lamb. Rams with Adams and Puka. During a time when passing is down in the league having 2 number 1’s is important. Pass catchers and being able to generate QB pressure. We have the complete opposite. TMac and Scourton are a nice start but they need running mates. Proven running mates if we’re going to compete next year

What a freaking throw

I can’t believe people actually watch those sports talk shows I mean I can but yeah…

Goff checked into that 4th down run. Not good
-
I’m not sure who has it easier. Goff or Caleb Williams Both surrounded by top tier playmakers. Even with losing LaPorta, Goff still has Williams, St.Brown and Gibbs. I could throw for 100 yards a game in Detroit Goff is the weak link on this team. Goff’s cap hit is 69 mill next season. They paid Hutchinson. Paid Williams. Paid Sewell. Paid St Brown. Gibbs is next. LaPorta soon after. It’ll be interesting to see how this plays out They might be wise to take a swing early on a QB at some point to keep this roster together for the foreseeable future. They’re all pretty young

Put these two answers together about game planning and imo it sounds like there’s never a true plan which is kind of the issue. It definitely looks that way a lot of times too. I feel the score dictates the play calling more than what the other defense is showing
-
And I agree and it’s no secret I want Bryce to succeed and think he can in a better situation but yah… I think with the way things are playing out in Vegas there’s a good chance the Raiders blow it up again and take the hit on Geno (18.5 million in dead money) and cut him If Geno becomes available I’d imagine Canales jumps at that
-
I don’t want this to turn into another Bryce Young thread so I’ll keep it about the offense as a whole and it’s a damn mess. It was even uglier with Dalton behind center To have this many mental errors this far into the season falls on coaching. We as a team lack consistency because our HC/play calling has zero consistency himself
-
Tremble is supposed to take Brown along the goal line. https://x.com/coach_yac/status/1993356695016493333?s=46&t=W75E23VenL1ei42iX22E5g Brown himself said “they didn’t threaten the flats” so he was able to jump it
-
That would’ve been even funnier and really summed up the night given it would’ve been an illegal forward pass. Bryce is clearly throwing the ball forward to Chuba

Coaching and a massive lack of execution which falls on Canales. Monday nights loss was 100% on him. Dave Canales continues to put this team at a disadvantage week in and out with personnel decisions. So far we’ve seen him go with Corbett over Mays. Killed Rico’s momentum by having him split carries with Chuba. Went back to not taking advantage of using TMac in the slot last night after doing so last week (only 5/29 routes ran last night were from the slot). Only lets Bryce get comfortable in gun and spread when the score dictates it. Taking a point off the board to go for 2 and call a passing play. Concedes the opening drive after a penalty. We need a weekly Zavala injury to happen for Dave to give Curhan who is the much better guard, playing time. As far as execution goes the all-22 is gross. Sooooo many examples of guys doing the wrong thing and blowing up plays and this again falls on Dave Play 1: https://x.com/tacostweets/status/1993313315607449693?s=46&t=W75E23VenL1ei42iX22E5g The interception in the end zone. This is on Tremble. Tremble is supposed to run along the goal line and take Brown with him. Instead he runs towards back pylon allowing defender to make a play on the ball. Canales mentioned someone running the wrong route during his post game presser. That person would be Tremble. Play 2: https://x.com/tacostweets/status/1993348090447773888?s=46&t=W75E23VenL1ei42iX22E5g Play 3: https://x.com/rickyboboddy/status/1993367670369272068?s=46&t=W75E23VenL1ei42iX22E5g Play 4: https://x.com/rickyboboddy/status/1993356332674552137?s=46&t=W75E23VenL1ei42iX22E5g Sanders decides he doesn’t feel like blocking on this swing pass to Chuba which should’ve been a touchdown. Add in a couple of drops. A terrible missed DPI call and this game was a complete disaster. The highs and lows are in large due to Canales. This guy hits the nail on the head I’m guessing Dave overcompensates this week and comes out running the ball no matter what while the Rams are putting up 7’s on us real quick. Should be fun…

You could give Canales, Patrick Mahomes and he’d call the exact same game -

Dave Canales continues to be the biggest problem -
Alright so Tepper is to blame for the situation. Reich didn’t want Young. What a god damn horrible situation for a rookie QB to walk into then Houston had the 2nd overall pick… but they had one hell of an offseason. They hire DeMeco Ryans. Hire Bobby Slowik. Trade up for Will Anderson after drafting CJ Stroud. They also drafted Tank Dell. They sign Danielle Hunter. They sign Dalton Shultz (we tried to sign Shultz he said no and we gave the contract we offered Shultz to Hayden Hurst). The year prior they drafted Stingley and Pitre. So many of you miss the bigger picture with so much of this stuff
-
Meh it’s something I’d feel confident betting on. The situation here was literally hell. It was horrible for Young’s development Young had guys like Hurst and Chalk who aren’t even in the league anymore. Mingo and Sanders might as well retire. The OL was a disaster. Reich’s scheme ran its course in Indy and got canned for a reason. Not in NFL anymore either. Houston is a complete team with real good pieces at the most important positions. Arguably best pass rushing duo in league. A top 10 corner. A top 10 WR. It’s a damn good spot for a young QB. This team gets murdered when Young doesn’t play. The beat Vegas that was it. Other than that the games weren’t even close. Meanwhile the Texans go 3-0. I mean even Stroud himself has talked about how he went to a much better situation
-
The Texans just went 3-0 without Stroud and beat the Jags (who they lost to earlier this season with Stroud) and the Bills (who murdered us) Just goes to show you how much of a difference there is between the two situations for these two QB’s who’ll forever be compared to one another Bryce would’ve had the rookie season Stroud did if he went to Houston. Bobby Slowik looked like a genius his first year calling plays and was scheme guys open downfield. Plus Stroud has always had a true WR1 in Nico. Canales need to let Bryce cut it loose a lot more often. Canales can’t seem to figure out the strength of his own team. He’s made countless boneheaded roster decisions. Chuba/Rico. ETN should get Chuba’s snaps at this point. Corbett/Mays. Now Zavala over Corbett. TMac not being used in the slot more. Our problems stem from Canales. Not Bryce.
-
And there’s a lot more that goes into consistent QB play than just the QB especially when it comes to Bryce He’s 24 years old in 3 year with year 1 being a complete throw away year. He’s still seeing new things and outside of the fumbles (which every QB has) there’s not a ton of wtf head scratching moments. You’re seeing Young make progress and the only people that can’t see that are the ones that care more about being right This board thinks a WR taking a ball over the middle and turning it upfield is asking too much. A few times yesterday with Coker and Sanders they failed to pick up 1st downs when they should have. To draft a QB like Young and surround him with guys with little to no YAC ability is beyond stupid. Like I said, eventually this kid will go to a proper situation and be just fine. Hopefully it’s in Carolina because there aren’t many other QBs that are walking into this situation and doing much more. I do agree that the looming contract situation does complicate things
-
It’s the same 5-6 morons in every thread repeating the same crap The loudest ones are always the most clueless ones and to appear clueless on this board is quite impressive Bryce has proven he can play. Kid is tough as hell. I’m not sure he’ll be able to walk on that ankle today. We have a coach that continues to make terrible roster decisions that’s holding this team back that already lacks talent. Some of us have been begging for TMac to get more snaps from the slot. TMac struggles when pressed. Finally Canales moves him around yesterday and he goes for 130. Curhan or Corbett should be playing RG. Instead he has Zavala out there responsible for a whole bunch of bad sh!t. Chuba shouldn’t see the field yet he still had him split with Rico for a bit. He started Corbett over Mays to begin the year. The lack of deep shots can be attributed to play calling and OL not being able to hold up. There were a few throws yesterday Bryce maneuvered around in the pocket masterfully. He faced a lot of pressure yesterday and torched the number 1 passing defense. Young is calling out protections, checking to correct plays, he had TMac pop out quick on the 3rd down play in that first drive. We’re really starting to see Young’s smarts show and at 24 it’s encouraging to see. Hopefully Dan and Dave can figure their sh!t out. If not then Bryce will eventually pair up with a good coach and an organization that can properly surround their QB and he’ll be just fine
