Glad I picked up Washington defense today
-
The Clowney signing was only because he was the best available of next to nothing.
-
If no QB emerges as a top target of our liking, and we are picking in the top 3, I'd like to trade back to 8 or 9, pick up a couple day 2 picks, and add some defensive talent that doesn't need a couple years to develop. And if possible, a real C.

Taking on Watson contract if the compensation is right

It would have to be trade and dump. That's the only world where it makes sense. -

Wasn't this brought up the other day? -
Are we now actively pulling for David Tepper to fail?
SmokinwithWilly replied to Panthers Fan 69's topic in Carolina Panthers
That would be great if he hadn't already made it clear that he makes his opinion very well known among the staff. You can't make unbiased decisions when your boss is constantly telling you what he wants done. -
I'm not sure what film you were watching but he had the worst mechanics of any of the top 4 QBs. The arm strength and happy feet have always been a problem.
-
The pre draft process is easily the best game he's ever played.
-
Not too surprising his college major was psychology. He knew exactly how to play Tepper to persuade him to get taken 1st and get 30m bucks.
-
It's also how you miss out on a franchise LT in Rashawn Slater. I'll never forget Rhule saying he would have to be a guard because his arms were to short after he had just been named an all pro LT in his rookie season. I freely admit Stroud wasn't my first choice, it was AR, but only with the right coach (Harbaugh IMO) which wasn't Frank. That left Stroud as my choice by default. Bryce's actions at the combine took him off my board immediately.
-
I know it's not an exact science but drafting a 6'5" WR because your QB throws high or ignoring an all pro talent tackle because his arms are 3/4" shorter than ideal isn't smart practice though. We've been obsessed with analytics the past few years and we've ended up with some of the worst drafts in franchise history. Maybe it's time they look at guys that actually have sustained success in college instead of one year wonders with high RAS scores.

My prediction in 3 years - Panthers return to their roots

Why is it the least desirable job? Aside from lack of talent, we have an owner that has admitted he makes his football opinions very well known in the front office. He's made extremely poor executive decisions and continues to try to pretend he's the smartest guy in the room. JMO but this is the least desirable job in the NFL because we have an owner that can't help himself exercising a football "expertise" that's been repeatedly bested by a fan message board. -
I'd take drafting players that may actually succeed in the NFL sooner rather than later.

He bought a business that no matter how much he loses, he still wins. An NFL franchise prints $$$. -
Especially at the HC and OC positions.

Interesting take on Evero and why no change in scheme

It would also help if we hadn't gutted the defense to build around a QB that would be benched 2 games into the season. I'm tired of this board being right more than our coaches. Did we need line help? Absolutely. Did we need to spend all those picks on offense? Maybe. Did any of it help our bust QB throw the ball, or fix his footwork, or read a defense, or any other of the dozen things a PS QB can do? Nope. Bryce has never been the best option to win and if those in charge had actually admitted it instead of doubling down, it's likely we wouldn't be this short of talent. -
They've already gone the FA QB route which is what they would have to do again eating up most of the space freed by Watson. They'd be better off to keep those 1sts, draft their own QB, and kick Watson to the curb as soon as his contract is up. A young QB on a rookie contract is more valuable than a vet QB. Unless you're the Panthers and your shiny new QB is a huge little anchor.

Would You Get a QB in 2025 draft, or not??
SmokinwithWilly replied to Hoenheim's topic in Carolina Panthers
I would guess they offer Darnold 2 years if he keeps playing like he is. Sit McCarthy, let him get fully healed, and let him learn like Love did. Plus, other than money, why would he want to come here. He's seen toxic Tepperball in action. I can't imagine he'd want to come back to Carolina unless no one else offered him a FA contract or Dave was willing to shell out 4yr/200m guaranteed. -
We draft too many projects hoping to turn them into Jerry Rice. It never happens but *insert high RAS score player name here* will do it this time for sure.
