ESPN Predicts Watson to be the Panthers starter in 2021

Good point. I just don’t want Burns to be traded. Djax and YGM or maybe Chinn (don’t really want that either) but not Burns. -

Although not the best roster, we lost, what, 8 games by a 8 points or less? With a good qb, we win most of those. Not too bad of a roster. -

Fair enough haha I will say, Jimmy will at least push the ball down field. -

You gotta be new here, I’ve been a die hard cam fan since he came to Carolina and I will still continue to support and debate ppl that say he’s done.(and yes been a Carolina fan since 95). All I said was Jimmy is capable, I didn’t say he was great or all pro. -

I think he was just saying, even though Tepper isn’t a creep, he still has some flaws in running the team, like JR, minus the creep perv, racist part. Tepper seems like a good dude and has done a lot more for this team in terms of diversity and letting players speak out on social justice issues. It’s a nice change of pace. -

San Fran has me the most concerned. They have players they could ship plus a capable starting qb. -

I agree. I haven’t been too impressed with him and if I’m being honest, I’m beginning to be a little concerned. He’s said a few times he doesn’t know football and wants the ppl he’s hired to make the football decisions. Yet there were reports that he was the one behind our switch to a 3-4, some speculation in not firing Rivera after the last game of the season before they fired him, not firing Marty when he fired Ron, keeping Marty for as long as he did, the whole “not a doctor thing” knowing full well they were cutting cam (should have just been honest), allowing Marty to be so involved with the new HC search and then firing him (should have got a new GM the same time as a HC so they were on the same page), tells us to be patient and it’s a five year process in a rebuild or something like that, then he seems to back pedal, panic and try to make trades for QBs to win now. Getting Watson would be a big win for him and the fans would be behind it and I think he sees that. He needs something like Watson. its sill early and he came in at an odd time and he may overcome all this, I am staying hopeful and not ready to label him Jerry 2.0 just yet. He did admit he made some mistakes which is a great thing and i think now he’s trying to make up for them. -

Not a bad point, can nfl trades do cash considerations like NBA? -

Another point is, Miami is sticking with Tua, they aren’t trading for Watson. The Jets, at least to me, lack the players to compete offers from us. Do they have more picks, of course, but Tepper would probably shell out more future picks than NYJ is comfortable with especially with a new coach. Trading out of conference makes us have the advantage as well. That does matter, some may disagree but it does matter. To me, the Niners are the team to watch out for in this trade. Will Watson be a Panther? I don’t know. Is it possible he will be? Yes. -
The question of Curtis. Tim Weaver wants to keep him.

Yes we should keep him, but he wants to test the market, not a good sign for us. It will basically come down to him or Moton, I feel like Moton is the best option. -
La Canfora on Tepper's desire for Watson/franchise QB

Do you think it matters the reason for sitting out? Bell sat out for money, Watson is sitting out bc issues with upper management. I can’t remember, did Bell request a trade? -

I think it was Schefter who reported that Watson said he grew up poor, he has managed his money well and can live off of little. He would be prepared to sit out. -

I think Darnold, in the right situation, could be really good. Similar to Goff with the Rams. His first year with Fisher was trash, put him with McVay he went off for a year or two. Granted, he fell back off, but coaching matters. That’s why I said, in regards to Teddy and Darnold, “as of now” bc now it’s kind of a wash until Darnold goes to the right situation. Houston wouldn’t be that right situation so you’d probably get the same results if Teddy went there. -

Yeah, good point. I did read though the Miami is set on moving forward with Tua. As of now could Teddy and Darnold be a wash? By that I mean, we could send Teddy to Houston and that would be just as favorable as NYJ getting Darnold, no? -

Fair, but the Jets don’t have the star power to offer someone like Cmc. They may want two defensive players, but they probably didn’t think someone like Cmc would be in a package. CMC and picks should outweigh a lot of offers. -

In Belicheck’s defense, that team was horrendous, Brady would not have changed that. Some have even said Brady leaving was more about Tom seeing the team was bad and wanted out. Jameis threw for 5k yards with that Tampa O (one of only four QBs to ever do it I believe) and the Bucs added Gronk, AB and Fournette. -
If Verge wasn’t saying these things, I’d be right there with you, but she is dependable with her sources.
-
To be fair, Verge is very dependable with her sources and her sources are telling her stuff about Watson. That’s why this thread is so long. We all know Newton’s post was a bold prediction. Let’s just enjoy the ride and read and talk scenarios.

Only bad thing about Fuller is he is suspend for six games next year.

Bears fans think they are getting every player in a trade or FA period. It’s wild

I think we all got pumped when we saw the reports that we were a “dark horse” to get him and the report about us being aggressive in his pursuit. Pair that up with him playing at Clemson and you have a recipe for cloud nine livin’ to crash and burn back to down to earth. Then ESPN+ released an article like @Wolfcop said where 4/9 writers picked us as Watson’s landing spot. I hope I’m wrong, I hope he comes here, but the chances are not good.
