Official Trade Deadline & Speculation Thread
ECHornet replied to Bear Hands's topic in Carolina Panthers
The non-exclusive tag was created for situations with players like Burns. -
There are Huddle posters who could average 2.5 ypc for the Eagles and Dolphins in their current systems.

NFC South Standings.... I'm not saying but.....

The Falcons just let Will Levis throw for 4 TDs in his debut. They’re capable of losing every game they play. -
Reading this thread was really, really enjoyable. I can almost see the anger coming through some of your posts bc Young played better than Stroud today. Please continue. I’m loving it.

Official Trade Deadline & Speculation Thread

Benjamin Albright said Surtain’s name was floated as bait to get the phone ringing on the other players they have on the block. They aren’t trading him according to Albright. -
Exactly my thought. Probably a great thing he gets to study under AT this year.

I’d do that one for one all day. Decline Horn’s 5th year option; go ahead and extend him on a reasonable contract due to his injury history. Opt in on Surtain’s option and pay him the big contract he deserves. Send Burns & Jackson for Surtain & Sutton. -
It did coincide with YGM to IR

Official Trade Deadline & Speculation Thread

Seems like that trade with the Eagles may have been for Chinn prior to his injury. -
I’ve shifted my focus to the Chargers WR room. Next year, they’ll have the following WRs under contract: Keenan Allen Mike Williams Josh Palmer Quentin Johnston (2023 1st Round pick) Derius Davis (2023 4th Round pick) As of now, 2024 is the last year of contracts for Allen, Williams, and Palmer. They will be looking to move on from one of them, at minimum, after spending a 1st & 4th on Johnston & Davis this year. My guess is Williams due to the cap savings. While Williams would be a good pickup assuming he’s cut or they cover some of the cost, I see Palmer as the prize. Palmer is 24 yo and looks to have the floor of a top end #2 WR. If we can package Jackson or Chinn with a mid-to-late-round pick to attain Palmer this off-season, I hope we make it happen.

I wouldn’t trade Donte for a 5th. That’s not worth trading a CB in your two deep unless the cap savings is too big to ignore. $6mil in 2024? I say keep him, hope he returns to average CB play and trade him next year to a contender with injuries in their secondary if our season isn’t going well.

Too much inside pressure ruins a passing game. Let’s see if things improve with one guard spot solidified when Corbett returns.
-
Result of having the worst starting guards in the NFL (due to injury) and no downfield separation.
-
I’d bet on Justin Fields being a Falcon in the next year or two.
-
I understand. I think he’ll have a long career in the NFL though. My hope is we decline his 5th year option and negotiate an extension that is fair to the team based on his lack of production and injury history. 3 years - 25mil and have him locked up through 2027 at a decent price. This is assuming he can come back and return to play this year and into 2024.
-
Good thing we don’t have to make the decision to pay him yet.
-
Why are some assuming Horn is not part of our future plans? He has ~three years remaining (including the rest of 2023) on his rookie contract and has shown pro bowl caliber talent when healthy. We suck this year. We’ll be better next year, and we’ll have a 1st round pick in 2025. Endure and survive a miserable 2024 without giving away the value we have, and things will tick up.
-
My statement was directed at those (not you specifically) who would give Horn away for any draft compensation. I think that would be foolish. As for trade value, there are typically more CBs drafted in the 1st round than DTs. That and Horn being under contract for three more years compared to Brown’s two years is all I have.
-
I’d keep Burns until draft day even if the plan is to trade him. Make an arrangement with a pass rush-needy team in the 10-15 range pre-draft. When it’s their pick and Malik Nabers and/or Keon Coleman are sitting there, make the swap + their 2025 1st. Throw in Chinn or Jackson if need be. I want to know what I’m getting in return for Burns that’s not just a future pick. Same idea as preferring Aiyuk from SF in return for CMC. Give me something I know or I’ve scouted instead of picks where I’m unsure if my target will still be available.

Horn is a stud. Yes, he’s had terrible injury luck since being drafted. That doesn’t change his all-pro potential at CB.
