  1. It’s tough because it also has to be a deal that Shaq will accept. I think he would like to stay a Panther, but I don’t think he’s willing to take a pay cut based on what others have heard.
  2. I like your plan. I’m not a big fan of void years anyway, and it seems that would be the only way to work out a Shaq extension.
  3. To clarify on my comparison to Jordan Love... I think Love is a pretty good QB. I'd take him as our starter next year. Coming out of college, Stroud is a more accurate passer and Love more athletic. Both have similar measurables. I guess those who disagree are running with the Burrow comparison from our QB coach or the Jared Goff comparison from the nfl site?? I don't see it.
  4. Contract info pulled from Spotrac. Very possible I got some of the math wrong so tear my potential extension apart. Key points: -Shaq gets a two year AAV of $11,580,000 with extension/restructure. Seems fair for him. -Panthers get $8,996,250 in cap savings next year while also keeping an important piece for our defense Do you think Shaq is worth a contract like this or should we just cut bait now?
  5. Jordan Love seems like a solid NFL comp for Stroud imo.
  6. Exactly. He bailed on his teammates on a potential Super Bowl run. If you offer him a 4 year - $190mil deal, it’s effectively only a 3 year deal because he’s proven he’ll sit for vital games in the last year, effectively holding the team hostage until they cater to his contract demands. I’m not going to say I don’t understand Lamar’s stance, but I imagine the Ravens fans and organization would be more eager to throw a huge contract his way if he displayed a team first mentality this postseason.
  7. I hope not. If we aren’t sold on moving up for a QB, a trade back with a team needing a starter at OT should be the move. Let someone give us a 2024 1st and 2023 2nd or 3rd to move up for Skoronski or Jones.
  8. What is the purpose of the nfl combine? To improve your draft stock, right? He didn’t participate for the same reason many who are projected in the top 3-5 picks also skip out.
  9. Y’all are wild with the Young doubt. He was projected by many to weigh ~185lbs at the combine. Once he showed he can put on weight, now it’s not his “playing weight.” Ridiculous. He’s 21 years old. It’s plausible his playing weight could be 215lbs in his sophomore year. He’s the best at playing QB in this draft.
  10. Maybe Campen feels good about Mays. I think it’s iffy that he’d be better than Elf to start next season. We should know by March 19th when Elflein is due a $1.26mil roster bonus. In any event, I think he’d have some trade value so I wouldn’t release him. The acquiring team would be getting a low end starting caliber center for ~$4.2mil. If Daley pulled a 5th round pick, I’d think we could do better for Elf.
  11. I don’t think we release Elflein until we ink a deal with the White Rhino. Even then, we have very little IOL depth, especially considering the injuries to Corbett and Christensen.
  12. Restructure Shaq & sign Okereke, Pratt, or Holcomb.
  13. You could see it coming a mile away. The combine came and went, and now people are saying Stroud and Richardson are above Young. Some have completely written Young off due to size concerns. Size is legitimately the only negative I’ve seen posters refer to when discussing Young. Bryce Young has been proving he’s the best QB among his peers since the Army All-American game. He actually weighed in heavier than many expected at the combine. He’s QB1 in this draft and I expect a career success arc that lands somewhere between Kyler Murray and Patrick Mahomes. Could a freaky play cause a serious injury? Sure. But I just watched a 45 year old, with less lean muscle mass than Young, make it through an entire season. I’m willing to bet a 22 year old Young who will likely be weighing ~210lbs can hold up.
  14. I understand and agree we can’t keep putting off going after a QB. With that said, the thought of Drake Maye becoming a franchise QB for the Bucs or Falcons makes me want to vomit.
  15. Agree. I’ve been saying Laporta is TE3 for a while. Brian Branch is another guy I have high on my non-QB wish list.
  16. QB: Brissett RT: Moton DE: Burns + two 2nd round picks OR QB: #1 pick in 2023 draft RT: Broderick Jones DE: Isaiah Foskey or other 2nd/3rd rounder acquired through trade back + $20mil in cap to spend on FAs I know which choice I’m taking. The one that should secure the most important position on the field.
  17. Burns + Moton + both 2023 2nd round picks should be enough imo. Trade back from #9 to acquire more picks. Target a tackle to replace Moton (Broderick Jones?) and I like Isaiah Foskey at DE/EDGE. That would also free up ~$20mil in 2023 cap savings that can be used to secure an off ball LB and safety. Draft TE Sam LaPorta with our 3rd round pick and a RB (Spears/Abanikanda/Mitchell) with one of our 4ths then we’re ready to roll.
  18. If I were a pro QB, I’d take 25 million per year instead of 40 to play for the Panthers. What am I really going to do with 40mil per year that will make my life extraordinarily better than earning 25mil per? My answer is nothing that would overcome playing QB for my favorite team in my home state. Not claiming D Jones shares that sentiment.
  19. No way he’s a top 5 RB as a rookie. I don’t see it.
  20. I’d rather have AT Perry in the 3rd and Johnston in the 1st. I’m a fan of Branch too. If we’re looking safety help, he solves that. Then you can move Chinn to the “fast LB” role we’re looking to fill. Add a TE in the 2nd/3rd and we’ve addressed a lot of areas with two of our top picks, just not the biggest area.
  21. It’s their overall career numbers, and I wasn’t selective in choosing stats. Completon % Passing yards Rushing yards TDs INTs Fumbles That’s a pretty good base level to determine a QB’s production. FWIW, I don’t want Trubisky to be our next QB. I just don’t want to pay Carr $35mil a year for what would be modestly better performance than what Trubisky would provide.
  22. I missed that interview. I know most of their messaging has portrayed shipping the #1 pick and riding with Fields. Most of their fans seem to want Fields to stay. I don't think Bears fans (or front office staff) are the best QB evaluators.
