It’s hard to describe intangibles sometimes. I view Young as savvy to a degree that will be above average his first year. He seems to also have that same sense as Mahomes to avoid the direct blows. He’s far more elusive than Stroud. I predict Stroud will take more direct hits that could lead to injury than Young.

I’d be happy if we selected Stroud. It’s just pretty clear who is more talented of the two. It’s the posters in here so adamant that Young and his poor widdle frame will break the first time he’s tackled that are on edge. The Panthers were sacked 36 times in 2022. I think the next time we see YGM, he’ll be weighing around 280-285lbs. He might be close already. He came into the league at 265. That would be plenty big enough for 5T especially since he succeeds in stopping the run. If we do trade him, I hope we target OL help whether it’s players or picks. Slim pickings right now and two of our starters are working through injuries.

I don’t see why many are sleeping on AT Perry. If we land him with our 3rd, I’ll be thrilled. I also like Tillman. Either in the 3rd would be great value and could be our knockoff versions of Tee Higgins.

I don’t understand why OP is posting as if Hubbard is no longer on the team. Our tandem is now Sanders & Hubbard instead of Foreman & Hubbard. I’m assuming OP fell in love with thunder & lightning RB duos. No legitimate NFL minds view Foreman as more valuable as a RB than Sanders. That can’t be disputed.

In reality, the Texans won’t know which one we are going to select. The premium to move up to #1 is so the Texans don’t have to watch us select their guy. We might go for the trade if we think they won’t select our target, but my preference is stay at #1 and keep it our choice.

I still can’t tell if OP is buzzing about Sanders being worse the Foreman, worse than Hubbard, worse than both, or worse than those two combined. Foreman is a power back who lacks elite explosion but runs hard. I liked him and most of Panther nation liked him and appreciated his efforts. Hubbard is a straight line runner with hands that one poster recently, and appropriately, described as tennis rackets. Sanders is regarded by everyone in the NFL, and really everyone except OP, as better than both. He is a young, top 20 RB in the league. It was a great pickup and what’s in your mind about it doesn’t change that.

They were predicted to finish 3rd in the Coastal division. Drake led them to 1st in the Coastal because that is what elite QBs do. They raise the talent level of the team. He did that despite the aforementioned atrocious defense he was paired with. Bryce Young is the best QB in the 2023 draft. Drake Maye would be selected #1 in the 2023 draft even if Caleb Williams were eligible too.

Assuming we truly don't favor Young or Stroud, this would be a great move. I find it hard to believe we won't have a favorite though. Should we make that trade, I'd like to see us move back in late 1st and maybe get a 2024 1st back. Preferably from the Saints at #29 bc I think they'll still be mid at best next year. I would give Tampa #12 for their 2024 1st, 2023 2nd, and 2023 3rd. I'm that confident they'll be picking top 5ish next year. Bring on Harrison Jr, Bowers, or maybe still Williams/Maye.

They do matter. It's just harder to see the effects if Watson does end up playing well and into his mid 30s. $35,000,000 in 2027 could snag a couple top end starters to help Watson. That will be much more difficult if they keep pushing money out. His contract is not something we've seen a ton of with all the guarantees.

We can still trade Thomas if we find a rookie TE we like. Much easier to move his contract now and teams do value TEs who can block well.

Hypothetically, if the Browns restructure every year of Watson's contract down to the vet min for his accrued seasons, in.... 2025: Cap Hit minimum ~ $37,000,000 2026: Cap Hit minimum ~ $46,000,000 Not terrible, right? Well, by then Browns would have pushed ~$90,000,000 into 2027 and beyond. That won't just disappear. Sure, they can extend him to keep that dead money from accelerating into 2027/2028, but those restructure bonuses will still have to be accounted for. If they extended him until he's 35 years old in 2030, the new money would be added on top of an estimated.... 2027: $35,814,000 2028: $26,847,000 2029: $17,899,000 2030: $8,940,000 In other words, they can't avoid those hits forever.

This suggests our floor for the TE room through 2024 is Hurst/Thomas/Tremble. Probably good for middle of the pack in the league. Thomas or Tremble would be easy to move on from next offseason if we find better options. I still want to keep Tremble around since he's so young. He's only 22 years old.
