  1. Too much inside pressure ruins a passing game. Let’s see if things improve with one guard spot solidified when Corbett returns.
  2. Result of having the worst starting guards in the NFL (due to injury) and no downfield separation.
  3. I’d bet on Justin Fields being a Falcon in the next year or two.
  4. I understand. I think he’ll have a long career in the NFL though. My hope is we decline his 5th year option and negotiate an extension that is fair to the team based on his lack of production and injury history. 3 years - 25mil and have him locked up through 2027 at a decent price. This is assuming he can come back and return to play this year and into 2024.
  5. Good thing we don’t have to make the decision to pay him yet.
  6. Why are some assuming Horn is not part of our future plans? He has ~three years remaining (including the rest of 2023) on his rookie contract and has shown pro bowl caliber talent when healthy. We suck this year. We’ll be better next year, and we’ll have a 1st round pick in 2025. Endure and survive a miserable 2024 without giving away the value we have, and things will tick up.
  7. My statement was directed at those (not you specifically) who would give Horn away for any draft compensation. I think that would be foolish. As for trade value, there are typically more CBs drafted in the 1st round than DTs. That and Horn being under contract for three more years compared to Brown’s two years is all I have.
  8. I’d keep Burns until draft day even if the plan is to trade him. Make an arrangement with a pass rush-needy team in the 10-15 range pre-draft. When it’s their pick and Malik Nabers and/or Keon Coleman are sitting there, make the swap + their 2025 1st. Throw in Chinn or Jackson if need be. I want to know what I’m getting in return for Burns that’s not just a future pick. Same idea as preferring Aiyuk from SF in return for CMC. Give me something I know or I’ve scouted instead of picks where I’m unsure if my target will still be available.
  9. Horn is a stud. Yes, he’s had terrible injury luck since being drafted. That doesn’t change his all-pro potential at CB.
  10. We’d look at it a lot differently if Aiyuk was a Panther instead of the draft compensation we received for CMC. That would have made moving DJ more reasonable. Huge mistake there imo.
  11. I think it’s because last year everyone knew we needed to trade everything we had to get a QB, and this year it’s because we’re 0-6.
  12. Just the younger version. Although not quite as young as you’d think for a second year player.
  13. I don’t think that’s the play here since we were shopping Chinn. Just a continuation of our terrible luck this year.
  14. Most glaring needs are WR and front 7.
  15. The haul you can get for trading out of #1 this year will likely set a new standard. We have a QB but need so much help in other areas. Trade back would be my vote. Have Tepper throw Drake 10mil to stay in school one more year in case Bryce doesn’t blossom by the end of year 2. Ha
  16. Players we have under contract in 2024: QB: Young/ Dalton RB: Sanders/ Hubbard WR: Theilen/ Mingo/ Marshall TE: Hurst/ Thomas/ Tremble T: Moton/ Ekwonu/ Ricky Lee IOL: Bozeman/ Corbett/ Christensen/ Mays/ Zavala/ Jensen DL: Brown/ Tuttle/ Barno LB: Thompson/ Cherilus/ DJ Johnson CB: Jackson/ Horn/ Jamison S: Bell/ Woods/ Robinson Special Teams: Hekker/ Pineiro
  17. Thought we were discussing proving the ability to throw the deep ball early in a career. Obviously, once a QB proves it, then every DC in the league will see it and respect it. Bryce hasn’t yet, but there are many contributing factors for the delay.
  18. To threaten defenses vertically, you need: 1 - deep threat WRs (we only have one in Chark and he’s below average as a starting WR in the NFL) 2 - an OL that can allow enough time for those WRs to get vertical. We have by far the worst starting guards in the NFL. This is obviously due to injury. Still, it doesn’t change the fact that we’re extremely susceptible to inside pressure. 3 - a QB who can hit the mark when 1 & 2 are in place (they’re not) 4 - Offensive play calls that allow for it. Whether that’s due to the lack of 1, 2, 3, or all of the above, we don’t know.
  19. I wish they would use something like a triangular white marker for incompletions that are clear throwaways. I feel like 1/2 of Bryce’s incompletions are these types where the play is just dead from the jump or dead from quick pressure.
  20. There have been very few downfield shots taken where Bryce isn’t getting hit as he’s finishing his throwing motion. I agree he needs to improve there, but I also don’t think we’ve seen enough of it yet to definitively say it’s a problem. I’d love to see more downfield shots coming out of the bye week, and getting Corbett back to give us more resistance to onside pressure should help.
  21. All the whiners should have to see this on each page of this thread.
