It was great that Brady was able to step in as our center on short notice... but center overall needs addressing this offseason. Getting worked up about the QB has been a Huddle tradition since I've joined almost 20 years ago. Jake Delhomme is not a franchise QB. Start Chris Weinke. David Carr will push Jake. David Carr crumbles at the slighest sniff of pressure. Matt Moore may be the future. Matt Moore doesn't care about being the starter. Clausen is a limp pickle. Cam can't win close games. Cam can't throw an accurate pass. Cam should've dived on that fumble. Cam should've not gone after that Chargers player and hurt his shoulder. Teddy can't throw past the sticks. Darnold's a dumbass. Mayfield can't throw a pass without it being batted down. In other words, I can't get that worked up nowadays because I've heard most of it before already. I will say BY's getting more of the Jake Delhomme Huddle hot takes now, which I'll take as a positive improvement from where he was before.

Should be the expectation given we make the right moves in the offseason and that our rookie WRs take a step forward themselves. They got plenty of reps this season, and so hopefully they can be more consistent themselves.

Okay, that Bucs-Cowboys game was wild. Like two wrecking balls crashing constantly into one another.

Ultimately, the question for this season regarding Bryce Young was whether we should continue building around him or go in a different direction. Far as I can tell, all signs points to the former. Given how poor the upcoming QB draft class is and all the holes in the roster that are in desperate need of filling, this is the best case scenario for us. Do we want him to take more steps forward next season? Of course, but this is a guy who basically pulled himself out of complete bust territory after the second game of the season to earning the respect of not just his teammates and head coach but even his fellow competitors via his play. When someone is capable of doing something like that, he's earned the right to continue getting the chance to prove he can be more than we think he can be.

OFFiCIAL Panthers vs Cardinals GameDay thread
outlaw4 replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
It's the Panthers way. We can't make any wins easy on ourselves. But considering how we had so many close games against difficult opponents not go our way and then we fall flat on our faces last week, an actual victory instead of a moral one - especially when we put together a generally positive performance - was very much needed. -
Two interceptions in, what, two minutes?

If Dell tore up his knee, that only makes holding onto that TD even more impressive.

Combination of NFL defenses doing a lot more to avoid getting beat deep and Mahomes not having the same weapons he used to have.

Two bad throws by Mahomes. Both guys were wide open.

One of the worst but I may have a historical contender. I made myself suffer and looked back at the 2010 season. There was a game against the Bears where Smitty was inactive. As such, we had this. Bit of a parallel with now but we had two rookie WRs starting here with LaFell and Gettis. Both showed promise although one tore their ACL and never returned while the other only became a mid #2 guy. Our other receivers were the anonymous David Clowney and the legendary Armanti Edwards. Oh, and cherry on top was that we released ultra-bust Dwayne Jarrett right before this game for a DWI. QB stat line was predictably sad.

Dave Tepper gives Canales and Dan Morgan vote of confidence

I'm just hoping that Tepper actually has the patience and the self-restraint to simply let Canales/Morgan continue doing their jobs.- 52 replies

Don't usually see a veteran QB getting benched after a win and while still in the playoff hunt. Talk about spending a ton of money to basically keep the QB spot warm for a few months.

This seems like the worst overall offensive scores of the season. Only potential positive is that we have a lot of mistakes to review and learn from for just about everyone.

How did they mess up so bad with Mayfield and Darnold,
outlaw4 replied to Jmac's topic in Carolina Panthers
Evans/Godwin may be ancient but we haven't had such a pairing even remotely close since the 2000s. Vikings offense has enough talent that our most reliable receiver option today is one of their discarded pieces in Thielen. In other words, this organization thought we gave Darnold/Mayfield a realistic chance except we instead placed them in situations a lot closer to the bad teams they had left. At some point, the blame falls less on the players and more on the fact that this team has their own myriad of issues from its owner to lack of talent across the board. Not to say Darnold/Mayfield will continue playing as they are. They just have far better odds than they ever had here. -
Allen is the better passer... but it took him at least 3 years to get there. Cam was working on that but the shoulder injury ended that effort. I'd give Cam the slight edge from a scrambling standpoint. Don't really factor in playoff success since there's outside factors at play. For example, Allen may have more on the offensive side to help him, but he doesn't have a Luke on defense. Most importantly, however, is that I often find comparisons between current and former players to be a bit unfair. Current players are often inspired by who they idolized growing up and want to be much like them and, sometimes, end up being better than them.

I honestly did not think he had wheels like that. Obviously great that he's showing potential, but also a positive sign that we actually identified such a guy and got him here in the first place without even using a draft pick.

After today's performance, should've bought stuff from Dollar General instead.

I'm still on the fence with Evero. Not too happy Lamb covered by guys completely incapable of doing so. Then again, turnovers put them in bad spots and our talent... it's making lemonade with one lemon and a bunch of rocks. I think a lot will come to what direction we want to go scheme-wise and whether Evero fits into those plans.
