  1. This guy makes so much sense to me that I'm surprised he's not coming up in more conversation or that we haven't (according to Ken's list) had a reported meeting with him yet. At 6', 180lbs with a 4.5 average 40 time, he reminds me as much of a young Greg Jennings as anyone else in this years draft. He excels at cross field routes across the middle, generally being the high percentage receiver underneath the #1 wideout but with definite YAC ability. Now most of this board has picked up the usual post combine/pro day blindness to the fact that elite athletes don't always make good receivers and this guy is not the fastest or biggest receiver in the draft, but Greene is a Biletnikoff Semi Finalist, twice All-ACC and is in the conversation for greatest ever FSU receiver alongside Anquin Boldin. Given he's great friends with KB, is a leader in the locker room, has great hands and can provide another receiver in the intermediate range that Olsen works so successfully, I just don't get why he isn't in the round 2-3 discussion instead of the likes of Perriman/Strong. Add in the fact that 4.5 isn't exactly a slow 40 time and that he has punt return experience, to me he's an absolute no brainer if he falls into the mid/late third round. TLDR: This guy is a receiver FIRST, has great chemistry with KB and is a high percentage guy that would help relieve pressure from KB, Cam and Ginn in the same way that Olsen acts as a pressure release in short/intermediate routes with YAC ability. I would love to consider him with our 2nd or third, if he was 15lbs heavier he would be in the first round discussions. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TCQcwjrRHbU
  2. All I'm saying is one step at a time, and looks like we've finally taken the first couple of steps under Gettleman's guidance.
  3. 5 years ago, winning the NFCS in back to back seasons was beyond a dream for most of us.
  4. I'll throw you a bone. Fine, I get that Gettleman hasn't been great with the media during his time here. He's very straight up and sometimes overly open with some thoughts while he's massively closed on others e.g. contracts. I think there are better "press GMs" out there definitely. The Hardy and Steve Smith sagas were difficult for him and could have been handled a little better, but really this means nothing to the product on the field that he's helping to put together. So do I care that what he says in his press conferences gets extrapolated and mis-interpreted by the media? Could not give a toss.
  5. And this is my point, no where in this do you actually explain WHAT you are looking for. All you're doing is complaining about a lack of money spent, regardless of who was available to spend it on. The same tired complaint made every year on this board.
  6. Why do people only listen to half of what Gettleman says and then say they're disappointed that he's not doing the things HE says we can't do? Yes, Ginn does fill the need for speed at Wide Receiver, without spending $10 on Cobb or $9 on Smith. He fills the NEED, to have a receiver that can run fast up the field and "stretch the field" as people around here like to say. In fact Ed Dickson, Dwan and Ginn are all in my view in the second tier at their position in FA. Look at which TEs were available and tell me Dickson wasn't in the top 5, do the same with DTs and Dwan, arguably Ginn wasn't top 5 in this receiver FA class but his utility as a returner definitely had teams interested.
  7. One day people will hate the Panthers this much. And it will feel good.
  8. Importance of Comp picks (and the team building philosophy that gets you them). There's a lot more super bowls in the top half then in the bottom half.
  9. This thread.... And yes I had to google circle jerk. Definitely won't be doing that again.
  10. I mean there's no doubting your talent evaluation skills is there?
  11. I think his endgame is to not spend that money on mediocre receivers, draft some talent and carry the cap over to next year where it can be used to sign some of our real talent.
  12. Anyone who can get 14 passdef and 2 int in a season behind the jags D line is worth a look.
  13. He has to play 10 games for us to get a comp pick, so as long as his suspension is less than 6 games we should be fine.
  14. What you guys think is happening: What is actually happening:
  15. His journey reminds me of Norman's, made some plays in 2013 but also cost us with some penalties on special teams. Completely understand why he didn't get snaps over Harper last year, he's probably the least talented of our young secondary at this moment. Hope he put the work in to improve last year.
  16. Just because you 'shot down' his argument with ridiculous arguments of your own that you have no evidence for doesn't make your opinion the right one. You know the best thing you can put around a young developing receiver? A great defence. Go and watch how many times our defence has bailed out Cam after an interception or poor overthrow. They then force a 3 and out or turnover and put the ball right back into Cam's hands. If Cam doesn't understand and appreciate this (and we have plenty of post game comments to suggest he does) then we should just give him 5 first round receivers and see how many games he can win us. So many people here are butt hurt that Cam isn't putting up as many stats as Luck or isn't as big a deal for the team as Luck is, when in fact they're losing the bigger picture about winning football games. I couldn't give a fug if we gave Cam a one legged receiver from the CFL as long as we carry on winning football games.
  17. Wow, a lot of hate on here for a guy that's one season removed from being a big part of why we went 12-4. He was as much a reason for out success last year as Hardy was but now he's a year older he's just terrible and should be absolutely fine with being cut? I get his dig at JR didn't go down that well but twice in two years now we've had people bad mouthing players that have been here for half our entire history. Just let him move on and accept that it's purely a financial decision.
  18. Fun fact - we currently have 3 first round (counting Olsen), one second round and one fourth round receiver on our books going into next year.
  19. Let's play a quick game, can someone name a Young QB that's in a better situation than Cam? Luck? Kaepernick?
