  1. Saw an article on NHL.com about our prospects today. A couple notes: - The Canes hope Morrow will join the team this year after his season at UMASS is over. - Waddell expects Ponomarev to get some games this year.
  2. If the rumors are correct, EK is on his way to Pittsburgh.
  3. Tuch would be my preference, not sure they’d trade him though.
  4. Agree 100%, he was next in line at NBC but ESPN typically likes to go with former players.
  5. I’d want Peterka, he’s a young roster player with a good amount of potential. If we’re trading Pesce then I want someone coming back with term because I assume that if dealt, Pesce will be going to a team that he’ll extend with. An extended Pesce is worth a player with term.
  6. LMAO. That contract could be brutal in just two years time. Guys that play like Wilson just don’t last until they are 37.
  7. On to the round of 16 in Leagues Cup, Kahlina came up big again.
  8. I don’t think Dundon is cheap when it comes to the product on the ice but I do agree with Rod that if Tom thinks he can find a guy who can do a good job for a nickel then he’s going to take that guy over the guy who wants a quarter. That in part is why Forslund is no longer with the Canes. Rod also made some interesting comments about the state of the team. It definitely doesn’t feel like we are done shaking up the roster.
  9. Doldrums of the offseason, this long without hockey makes me ornery.
  10. I ran with it lol, I’ll be the first to admit it haha.
  11. The Reddit link has the NHLN video, that’s why I posted it. And if you see everything in black and white then I guess those are your only options. But I’m of the belief that something can be right at one point and then wrong at another point. And if I’m not mistaken, Shayna said that ‘it sounds like Tarasenko is headed to Carolina,’ not that he is signing with Carolina. That’s an open ended statement that leaves room for something unexpected to happen in my opinion, and obviously something unexpected did happen. Anyway, it’s a moot point now.
  12. There’s your proof. And like I said, things can change. It doesn’t mean that the information that Shayna was originally provided with wasn’t correct and then became incorrect later. I don’t know how long you’ve been a Canes fan but the same situation happened last year. Every pundit reported that we had agreed to terms with Mason Marchment and then Dallas came in and stole him from us. It doesn’t mean that all the talking heads were wrong, it just means that something happened and the situation changed. The only reason I even said anything was because of your sarcastic remark about Shayna being reliable. Once again, not sure how long you’ve been a Canes fan but she broke the news of the Skjei trade when he was sent from the Rangers to Carolina. Everyone has hits and misses but she’s right more often than not.
  13. Canes can get to $2.5M in cap space if they move Coghlan and send Kochetkov to our non-existent minor league team. Could probably get Tatar for that number if we wanted to. He’s a guy that could probably hold down the fort on a line with Kotkaniemi and Necas until Svechnikov returns and then you can put him on the fourth line where he’d probably be able to take advantage of easy matchups.
  14. Sheesh dude… no reason to get bent out of shape. Just stating the fact that Shayna was reporting the information she was given and she’s usually very reliable. Sometimes things happen after the fact and the outcome changes. It doesn’t make Shayna any less credible.
  15. You’re wrong but you do you. The NHL Network even stated that we had a press release ready to go. Additionally, Shayna’s tweet was on the 4th of July, Tarasenko fired his agent on the 5th… not exactly many days.
  16. To be fair to Shayna it was reported that the Canes and Tarasenko’s agent agreed to a deal, they were literally waiting on the documents to be sent to the league office. Then Tank flipped out and fired his agent. No one saw that coming.
  17. Welp… moving on. What are the other things we are waiting on? Karlsson, Pesce, another forward not named Tarasenko?
  18. Now that Chicago has Bedard those tickets are only going to go up.
  19. Figured Tank was no longer an option as soon as he switched agents. Only other forward option in FA is Tatar. Other option is acquiring a forward in a trade.
  20. Between Bunting, Lemieux, Orlov, and DeAngelo, the Canes got a little tougher to play against from a physical perspective.
  21. With the TDA signing, we only have $850K in cap space which is basically what you want to leave for call up’s in case of injuries. The Canes current roster is: Bunting - Aho - Teravainen Svechnikov - Kotkaniemi - Necas Martinook - Staal - Fast Noesen - Drury - Jarvis Lemieux Slavin - Burns Orlov - Pesce Skjei - Chatfield Coghlan - DeAngelo Andersen Raanta Kochetkov Technically I’m one over right now but Svech is unlikely to be ready by the start of the season. Ponomarev or Rees could also see some time with the big club this year.
  22. Fug it, let’s go 7D this year. Slavin - Burns Orlov - Pesce Skjei - Chatfield DeAngelo
  23. Play Bender more. Westwood can be the CDM with Bender and Arfield playing ahead. Our back line is also atrocious. I’ve never seen a team play overlapping runs as poorly as we do.
  24. Finally won a game, albeit in the Leagues Cup against FC Dallas.
