  1. Man, that was a dangerous throw. Worked out though...
  2. School and level of competition, among other things... The draft profiles of Christensen that I've read had him projected as a backup at the NFL level. Third round is pretty reasonable for that.
  3. And he has every right to... ... except when it comes to football.
  4. Stratton's point isn't that the majority of teams and scouts throw out the rules, but that they should. As to why teams passed on Christensen though, I doubt it's as simple as one thing.
  5. Heck, Rhule has hinted that Newton won't even play the full game today.
  6. Detroit is trending up. Atlanta is trending...not up (for this season anyway). Rams and Cowboys likely win easily enough. Eagles and Seahawks probably win.
  7. To be fair, I've got a feeling the way this game is gonna play out isn't exactly gonna be a great send-off, and I'm probably not the only one. It's worth asking whether that's gonna be the way fans would want to remember him.
  8. That was reportedly one of the big things Tepper liked about him.
  9. Mentioned elsewhere that Lady Cowboy Fan got me a book called "Scout Speak" by Neil Stratton of "Inside the League" for Christmas. It's about learning how NFL scouts evaluate talent. Here's one of the first paragraphs in the book, Stratton explaining some of the core things he's learned in twenty years of scouting experience... 1. Throw out all the rules No matter what any scout says, there are none. As a fan, or as a young football professional, you will be told certain positions have to be certain sizes run certain speeds or have certain production. Maybe, maybe not. Scouting is, was, and always will be highly subjective. Trends, popularity, which players are deemed to be "safe" at what rounds, etc., matter far more to most teams and their scouts than they'd like to admit. But none of that matters... I'd like to add "arm length" to that list of crap that doesn't mean anything Stratton goes on to explain why and add in some other cool insights into the scouting world. With a forward by Jeff Ireland that includes some good behind the scenes stories, this is definitely a book I can tell I'm going to enjoy. And throw in that right out of the gate, it says something about Matt Rhule's rules.
  10. Tepper feels the same about himself. Maybe that's why the two of them get along.
  11. Yeah, if there's another Herschel Walker type trade on the horizon (like say, for Deshaun Watson) I have a bad feeling we're on the wrong side of it. Just have to hope Fitterer has enough wisdom and enough pull to keep that from happening. Sadly, not so sure about the "pull" part.
  12. Jimmy did it in a time when there was no salary cap, under an owner who'd spend whatever was needed and with great benefit from what's widely considered the worst trade in league history. Pretty much no way to replicate any of that...
  13. She has quite passionately told me of her belief that teams need to focus heavily on building their offensive line first.
  14. Or you allow your decision making to be affected by the fact that you need to save your ass.
  15. On a brighter note... ...one of Lady Cowboy Fan's Christmas presents to me. (she knows me well)
  16. I wouldn't bank on that. I'm not gonna criticize someone for not wanting to spend their hard earned money on sh-tty football. Nobody here owes David Tepper a damn thing.
  17. So for the latter part of your post, were you listing all the good things about Matt Rhule potentially coming back?
  18. Is that a path you can see a coach who needs to save his ass following though?
