Thanks. You in the area? If so, what's the discussion like down there?
-
Gotta admit, that's pretty damn impressive for somebody his size.
-
I'm gonna guess no given what he says about Tua, but he definitely comes across as someone who could be a Huddler. I'm kinda disappointed that the reporter didn't ask why the Panthers.

It's 25 women now, and it's no longer true that all of them are represented by Tony Buzbee. "Something weird"? Yeah, I'd say that.
-
I don't know whether he's guilty or not, but it looks pretty bad. In the latest suit, a third woman accused him of forcing oral sex. The prime difference between you and me though is that I care whether he's guilty or not. You're one of the prime examples of "Who cares about these b-tches? I just want to watch some football games."

There's an important distinction to be made between style of play and ability. Brett Favre and Johnny Manziel are both gunslingers, but one is significantly better at football than the other. Likewise, Teddy Bridgewater and Drew Brees are both game managers, but again, one of them is a lot more successful at it. A lot of people use "game manager" like a derogatory term, as if it meant that the quarterback in question had lesser ability. That's a mistake.

Coaching fit matters here too. It's hard to imagine a better coach to quarterback connection than Sean Payton and Drew Brees. Payton had a system and Brees was the perfect quarterback to run it. On the flipside, when Ron Rivera was coaching Cam Newton it was basically a case of "go out and win the game for me".

At last check, there were several women that had been harassed by Jerry Richardson still employed by the Panthers. I'd be more concerned about their feelings, though I know there's some in the crowd that are like "Hey, we're winning football games so who cares if he victimized somebody? Me getting to watch winning football is more important than the lives of a bunch of people I don't know, right?"

The prediction I kept making was "well, that's gotta be all of them", especially when it hit twelve. Then each time I thought that, infomercial announcer kept jumping out and saying "but wait, there's more".

Gunslingers tend to be more up and down, less consistent. It's the reason why they have a lot of fourth quarter comebacks, because they make more mistakes in the first part of the game. Game managers are more consistent, and generally more accurate precision type passers. They can be maddening to play against because it seems like they just don't stop gaining yards. One good way to understand the difference is to look at golfers. You have some that are consistent every shot while others might take two or three shots that don't look so good but make up for it with one that's absolutely incredible.

I wouldn't try to predict what happens next. I can somewhat understand there being a challenge to going after a super popular athlete in a town where everybody loves him. Imagine trying to sue Patrick Mahomes in Kansas City.
-
Correct. The choice isn't a gunslinger or Bridgewater. If you want to frame it correctly, it's more a question of Brett Favre / John Elway vs Tom Brady / Drew Brees.

A game manager just won the Super Bowl.

From the statement: I am saying that me and my clients will go elsewhere to provide our evidence to investigative authorities. So the statement isn't "we're not going to the police". It's "we're not going to the Houston Police Department". What's the alternative? State police, I suppose. The SI accuser does have a different lawyer, but hasn't decided whether she's going to file a lawsuit yet. I suppose it's possible others may choose to change lawyers at some point (don't know enough about the legal process to know what that entails). As to why they chose a guy who's making a circus of it? The only thought I had on that is that a more sober, reserved lawyer might not have wanted to take a case so high profile and complicated whereas a lawyer that's full of sh-t will charge the gates of Hell with a water pistol.

A gunslinger type works better in a Coryell offense. We're not running a Coryell. The type of offense we run is more effective with a game manager type. Also, if you're making this choice based on who's more exciting to watch rather than who's more likely to win games, you're kinda missing the point of football.

Oy Ya know, I have no idea if you're an actual dick in real life or if you're just one of those really immature people who thinks it's funny to act like a dick online, but let me give you some advice... If you at any point do have a woman in your life who's a victim of something like this, don't give her the advice you're giving here. In fact, do the best thing you can possibly do for her and don't give her any advice...at all.

One, as mentioned before, men thinking they can tell women how they should deal with a crime very few men have ever had to deal with is a really bad look. And two, speaking as someone who I'm sad to say is well acquainted with actual victims of sexual assault, I can tell you that you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.

Can teams even do private workouts under current conditions?
-
Yeah, we would. The whole "McNair and/or the Texans did this to him" theory makes absolutely no sense. This in no way benefits the Texans, (and the suggestion that McNair just did it for spite is pretty dumb). Throw in that Watson's activities started long before he had any issues with the team.
-
You'd be wrong. The credentials for the accusers are included within the lawsuits. Most of them are state licensed massage therapists. Some that aren't reportedly told Watson they didn't typically do massages but he hired them anyway. As for the "but he's rich and handsome and can get any girl" defense, that's used by a fair number of rapists too. And the notion that only poor, ugly guys commit acts of this sort is heavily disproven.
-
Even that's not on this level though. The closest comparison you can probably make as far as scale is Darren Sharper.
-
"Prediction" would be a pretty generous word compared to what I'm thinking.

I wouldn't say I have a lot of faith in the NFL, but given the missteps they've had (like with Ray Rice, for example) I think the public pressure on them is likely to be pretty intense.
