Weatherly and Palardy ALSO being released today!
Mr. Scot replied to joemac's topic in Carolina Panthers
I suppose Paradis is still possible but we've got so few offensive linemen under contract it's hard to say. Worth noting that we are in the period where franchise players can be designated, so we could get news on Moton soon. -
Probably went for a big hit but missed.

Weatherly and Palardy ALSO being released today!

Mentioned in the other thread that Fitterer has been meeting with the scouting personnel. Guessing that they've been doing roster evaluations and these transactions are coming out of that. Makes me wonder if anybody else is in the pipeline. -
Okay so far today, Boston, Weatherly, and Palardy. Wonder if anybody else is in the pipeline. Also wonder when we're going to hire a DL coach
-
They didn't. He's only been informed of his release. It won't be official until the league year starts.
-
It's just noting a trend from those particular years. Guys drafted from 2017 forward would still be on their rookie contracts. And to be clear, it's not going to stop teams from drafting quarterbacks high, but obviously they need to do a better job of either drafting the right ones or developing the ones they draft.
-
Seeing word from Jeremy Fowler that Stephen Weatherly and Mike Palardy have gotten the same news. Apparently, it's cut down day.
-
As I recall, Fitterer was meeting with all the scouting staff for a two week period to get our offseason plans started. Gotta figure these recent transactions are probably coming out of those meetings.
-
I'm curious which other contracts you would put on that list.
-
I'd be for it. Feels like it's been forever since we had a really good safety (other than if you count Chinn)
-
Where did you get that I'm set on drafting a quarterback? I've said repeatedly that all of the runners up to Lawrence make me nervous for varying reasons.
-
Didn't we already release Short a couple of days ago? I never saw anything on if that designation was being applied to him.
-
I would say Tepper has been owner long enough that he deserves to be evaluated on his performance. Again though, my hope is that he's learned from his mistakes.
-
Thanks. I was thinking it was CJ something. Maybe I'm remembering someone else.
-
There was a safety that everybody really liked at the Senior Bowl, a guy that Matt Rhule mentioned specifically when he was asked about draftable players. Naturally, I've forgotten his name
-
Manziel...damn. I was desperately hoping the Cowboys would take him. Word was that Jerry Jones really wanted to but everybody in the Cowboys draft room was fighting to talk him out of it. Practically had to tie him to a chair. I remember there being a story that either a cab driver or a homeless guy told Jim Haslam he should pick Manziel and he listened. That was as Cleveland Browns a story as there ever was.

Didn't see that coming yet, but not against it.

Ah I was thinking you mixed up GM and QB.
-
My understanding of it is just that we'll check on all possible options. I'm fine with that. I actually think it's good.
-
I would have, but for all the numerous tweets on the topic, I couldn't find one that actually had the list.

ESPN Predicts Watson to be the Panthers starter in 2021
Mr. Scot replied to Big Sexy's topic in Carolina Panthers
They might. Sticking with Tua over a chance at Watson though? That's a tough sell. If Tua doesn't turn into something phenomenal, you wind up looking like a Grade A idiot there. -
Been a lot of talk about this group lately so I thought I'd check out the list. Be warned, looking at this list might make your eyes bleed (I disclaim all responsibility since you've been warned) ... 2009 #1 - Matt Stafford, Georgia, Lions #5 - Mark Sanchez, USC, Jets #17 - Josh Freeman, Kansas State, Buccaneers (I really thought Freeman was gonna be great) 2010 #1 - Sam Bradford, Oklahoma, Rams #25 - Tim Teebow, Florida, Broncos (had completely forgotten about #25 there) 2011 #1 - Cam Newton, Auburn, Panthers #8 - Jake Locker, Washington, Titans #10 - Blaine Gabbert, Missouri, Jaguars #12 - Christian Ponder, Florida State, Vikings (forgot Ponder too, but I'd be willing to bet a lot of people have) 2012 #1 - Andrew Luck, Stanford, Colts #2 - Robert Griffin III, Baylor, Redskins #8 - Ryan Tannehill, Texas A&M, Dolphins #22 - Brandon Weeden, Oklahoma State, Browns (spending a first round pick on Brandon Weeden... yikes) 2013 #16 - EJ Manuel, Florida State, Bills (look at it this way, there weren't as many busts that year) 2014 #3 - Blake Bortles, Central Florida, Jaguars #22 - Johnny Manziel, Texas A&M, Browns #32 - Teddy Bridgewater, Louisville, Vikings (that #32 pick...yeah) 2015 #1 - Jameis Winston, Florida State, Buccaneers #2 - Marcus Mariota, Oregon, Titans (Winston is a free agent but the Saints want him back; speculation the Raiders might trade Mariota) 2016 #1 - Jared Goff, California, Rams #2 - Carson Wentz, North Dakota State, Eagles #26 - Paxton Lynch, Memphis, Broncos (is Lynch still in the league? I'm thinking no) ... Oy Sooo...who's up for drafting a quarterback with our top ten pick?
-
You okay?

That's potentially a loooot of players to lose in a single offseason though. And the cap implications
