Well if you like two guys, trading down to #2 Is a pretty safe bet you'll still get one that you want. If you like three guys, you might still be able to pull it off by trading down to #4 given that Arizona doesn't want a quarterback. You'd have to have some kind of assurance that they weren't going to trade the pick to someone who does though. (Adrian Wilson could come in handy there) It's an extremely high stakes poker game.

Joe's not the only one saying this. In fact it's pretty much what everybody is saying (even Albert Breer mentioned it). I've heard people suggest this is just a smokescreen trying to get the Texans to make an offer to trade up. My question with regard to that logic is why would they be trying to bluff the Texans into trading up if they aren't willing to trade down?

I cited the people who had final say. Trusting the wrong people is Tepper's fault, but you can't personify "the franchise" as if it's a living thing. It's run by people. In the past it's been run by people who didn't know what they were doing, and yes putting those people in those positions is Tepper's fault, but it's not like he made all the moves himself.

As it's been presented to us in the past, the idea of free agency Is to fill your most immediate needs so that you can choose the best available players in the draft. I feel like we're seeing that play out this offseason.

The franchise isn't an entity to itself. It's a personification of the people who run it. For the first two years, that was Marty. For the last three, it was Rhule. That's what we have to be redeemed from.

Pretty much. He thought he'd be the subject of a bidding war. The only war seems to be teams competing for how far they can distance themselves from him. I expect he winds up back in Baltimore for whatever they're willing to offer.
