Contract not finalized
-
-
Probably not. It'd likely only be plausible in some weird scenario where Campbell got fired and Johnson wasn't under contract. That scenario itself isn't especially plausible. (but this was all purely hypothetical anyway)

Since being traded to the 49ers, he's looked so bad they're talking about benching him for the Super Bowl. I think he's actually a free agent next year but either way, doesn't sound like they care to keep him.
-
Gonna disagree with you on this one.

Panthers secondary coach under Matt Rhule...
-
He was given an opportunity to prove it was him, not Andy Reid. He proved just the opposite.
-
I'd need way more compensation than just Jerry Jeudy to sign on for that trade.
-
I don't doubt that his agent set a high price tag. I heavily doubt that it was what Anderson said it was since the agent himself denied it publicly. With that made public, would have been pretty tough for him to go into an owner's meeting and say "just kidding, that's the price".

You think if Johnson became available for an OC job, teams wouldn't step on people to hire him? Hell, every team in the league has changed OCs in the last few years.
-
It's only a "dodged bullet" if Canales is successful. That's a question that won't be answered for a while.

I'm still about 70 to 80% certain that story was bullsh-t.

Brandt Tilis hire official - Executive VP of Football Operations
Mr. Scot replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yeah, the titles are largely window dressing. The job descriptions are very fluid. Can't remember if we're still using BLESTO or not. Vaguely remember seeing something about it a little while back but don't remember the specifics. Pretty sure Morrow is the last holdover from the Richardson regime. He was Director of College Scouting for a while under Marty. His title over the last few years has been one of those "step back" roles that you typically see people take right before they retire, but he's still here Can't help feeling that a lot of the current staff could well be reassigned or perhaps restructured out of the building after the Draft. But then again, with an in-house candidate having been given the job, that might be minimized (or maybe not even happen at all). -
I'd agree there. It's the kind of life altering decision plenty of us would hate having to make, but ya gotta do your best.
-
I'm sure the Commanders would tell you Quinn was the guy they really wanted all along 🫥
-
Don't know if that's a "dodged bullet" or not just yet. Probably also worth noting that some of the quotes in this piece read like damage control on the Commanders part. "See, he didn't turn us down. We turned HIM down! Yeah...that's right"
-
Not sure I see it. McDaniels certainly believes he's head coaching material. The problem is...he's not. Johnson? Don't know. Some guys just really don't wanna be in charge. Maybe that's him.
-
It honestly could just be good self-awareness. It was reported elsewhere that he and his wife say down and discussed their situation and agreed that they love where they are now. One thing for sure: If he ever becomes a free agent, he'll have half the teams in the league lining up to pay him.
-
That's apparently what Canales said about Tampa's line, that it took them until about midseason to really catch on
-
Whether or not he wants to be a head coach, if this is true he definitely didn't want it to be in Washington.
-
Got that impression too... My biggest deal is that I want him to be smart. I don't necessarily care what his particular emphasis might be as long as he knows what he's doing.
-
It sounds like he might not really want to be a head coach that badly. There's been some conflicting reports. General belief is that Johnson still feels like he's not ready for a head coaching job yet. Another source though said that he didn't like that Commanders executives were "basketball guys" who he believed didn't really know football. Whatever the story, the general perception is that he kind of screwed Washington over making his decision while they were in flight to come see him. And as it turns out, the five members of the Commanders brass that were on the plane at the time actually learned that he had turned them down via Twitter before they ever got his text. Ouch
