  1. And if those "entertainers" happen to victimize a few women along the way, that's okay as long as they keep "entertaining" us. Is that how it works? I mean, it's not wrong as long as you're rich, famous or talented, right?
  2. She's not exactly a big fan of Jerry Jones as is. On that front, she agrees that should be investigated and Jones punished if they find something on it.
  3. Speaking as the husband of someone who's survived more than one form of sexual victimization, what would you suggest I tell her to explain how watching a football team win is more important than her feelings?
  4. It's actually been documented that the legal stuff began before the trade demands came out.
  5. From the football side: It makes no sense to trade what it would take to acquire him while we're in a rebuilding state. From the moral side: If he's guilty of even a portion of the things that he's accused of, he's not someone worthy of cheering for. From the PR side: Making someone with this kind of profile the face of your franchise, especially in light of both what happened with Jerry Richardson and the promises made by David Tepper, would be extremely detrimental, not to mention hypocritical. From the practical side: Only an idiot would make a trade like this while he still has all of these legal issues hanging over him. From the personal side: Having known and cared for women who have been victims of things like harassment, sexual assault, rape and other forms of victimization (sadly, including Lady Cowboy Fan) I cannot in good conscience support something like this. Don't think I could make this any clearer...
  6. Oh, I have little doubt that the Panthers are going to make me feel bad, but it won't be because they exceeded my expectations.
  7. I feel like this is a more accurate statement.
  8. I'd like to hope Tepper isn't stupid enough to agree to terms with what's still hanging over his head, but sadly there's plenty of evidence that he's an absolute dumbass on football matters.
  9. I like not seeing us listed in these discussions.
  10. Unless Carroll wants one last hurrah...
  11. Reports indicated it was a possibility though the general thought was that he'd be allowed to retire.
  12. The outcome of the Grand Jury hearing could be the difference between lots of interest and zero interest.
  13. Washington being interested? Valid. It being "down to a two horse race" between us and them? No.
  14. What the article actually says... The Washington Commanders and Carolina Panthers remain interested in Watson, per league sources. Juan posting fake news for attention again...
  15. Person said we did talk to the Seahawks, but I'm guessing that "talk" went about as far as "You want how many picks? Uuuhhh... nevermind"
  16. Jonathan Alexander mentioned Carson Strong as another trade down option.
  17. Technically he wanted Fields too. But if Rhule also wants him, well...
  18. ...and in the process, confirms something he previously said was unknown. Watson was not willing to waive his no-trade clause for Carolina before the deadline, preferring to go to Miami. But now that the Dolphins have shut the door on Watson, would he consider coming to Charlotte? It likely depends on who the other interested teams are. Tampa Bay, looking to reload after Tom Brady’s retirement, has a stacked roster and ascending offensive coordinator in Byron Leftwich. More excerpts about various options... Deshaun Watson: Before the trade deadline, multiple teams offered Houston packages that included three first-round picks and two third-round selections, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. Houston reportedly has been unwilling to move from that asking price for a player who — despite his off-the-field issues — is one of the league’s top quarterbacks and is still in the prime of his career. Mitch Trubisky: The Panthers could try to sign Trubisky to a short-term deal to either compete with or supplant Darnold, and it would not preclude them from taking a quarterback in the draft. But the Panthers have gone down this road before — taking a flier on a young quarterback who was a top-3 pick in the hopes he might flourish in a new system — and look at how that’s gone. Jimmy Garoppolo: Teammates rave about Garoppolo’s leadership and presence, but critics say he’s a game manager who needs everything to be right around him to be successful. That said, he’s an upgrade over Darnold and could be in the mix for the Panthers if they miss out on Watson. Derek Carr: The Panthers would be interested in Carr if he becomes available, but that seems like a pipe dream at this point. Kirk Cousins/Carson Wentz These two are lumped together because, while NFL personnel officials consider them a step up from Darnold, neither is the Super Bowl-caliber quarterback whom team owner David Tepper has said he’s seeking. Team sources said the Panthers never called about Cousins, whose $45 million cap number makes him unmovable without a new contract. Kenny Pickett/Malik Willis/Desmond Ridder All three of these guys impressed in their own way last week in Indianapolis. Pickett is the most NFL-ready quarterback in a weak class. Willis has a big arm and a high ceiling, while Ridder impressed the Panthers — and other teams — with his makeup and overall skill set. Given the quality and depth of the offensive tackles, Fitterer said last week that it probably makes the most sense to take a tackle at No. 6, but added: “That will come down to whatever we do in free agency.”
