  1. Ya know...I don't know. I know there's been a few coaches fired after one year. GM's? Don't think so but I'm not dead certain.
  2. Not as good as I'd like, unfortunately. I'm still hoping, but I'm not expecting.
  3. Spending money on any position is bad if you spend it on the wrong guy. As far as on-field involvement though, I agree that the only influence he should have there is the hiring of the person who handles all of that stuff. Unfortunately, his choices on that front so far (Hurney, Rhule) haven't exactly inspired confidence.
  4. I don't see any realistic possibility of Rhule getting fired before next Monday at the earliest. Hell, it could be argued that there's not much point firing him with one game left anyway.
  5. Possible. But if it were fan service though, wouldn't it have made more sense to leave him in the whole game? (or at the very least, put him back in for that final series)
  6. Im not sure anybody's getting a "hurrah" with our current roster and coaching staff.
  7. When it comes to player acquisition, coaching-GM dynamics tend to be pretty much the same regardless of who has the power. The coach sets the scheme, and based on that what he wants in players. Take offensive line, for example. Some coaches want big maulers while others want smaller more agile guys. (and some guys want "versatility" above all else) The personnel guy's job is basically to get what the coach wants... ...even if what the coach wants is dumb.
  8. Morgan's primarily been a pro personnel guy as an executive. Fitterer's background is more in college scouting. Between the two of them, it could be a pretty good combination. I'd add that a few have said they'd fire Fitterer and name Morgan GM. Not sure that's a real possibility. Fitterer and Morgan are said to be pretty close friends (i.e. their families hang out together type friends). Morgan also gives Fitterer credit for helping him learn how to be a scout. Granted it's a business, but if you were to dump Fitterer, I'd say it's far from guaranteed you keep Morgan.
  9. Gotta believe the Robby Anderson extension was probably influenced by Rhule as well.
  10. I know Tepper had the final decision on the hire, but I'm not certain he knew he was going to fire Marty at that point. Most of what I've read seems to indicate that what got Hurney the boot was a conflict of styles with Rhule. For whatever you think of Rhule, we do at least owe him for that. Throw in that Tepper isn't exactly the most discerning guy when it comes to football knowledge. Before he trusted Rhule, he trusted Marty. Even went so far as to call him a great talent evaluator.
  11. We finally got out from under Marty Hurney as GM for good only to wind up stuck with a full power head coach that Marty was instrumental in choosing... It's like he never left
  12. I know there are some on here who want to keep him and some who don't. For clarity though, I would ask this question: How many of you have ever been put on a group project in school or at work where the person in charge of the project was a dumbass? Not much fun when your results are affected by the work of someone who doesn't have a clue, is it? I've been there. I suspect you have too. That particular dynamic is a big reason why I'd like to see what Fitterer and Morgan can do unencumbered by the incompetence of Matt Rhule. Here's hoping we get that chance.
  13. Could Darnold have been rebuilt? I don't know. What I do know is that if it was going to be done, it needed to be put in the hands of a way better coaching staff than this one.
  14. Uuuhhh, yeah The parts of that that are "on the field football" related are mostly only tangentially so. I'd add that spending a lot of money on a coach isn't actually a good thing when that coach sucks.
  15. Tepper reportedly wanted Fields so I can't buy that argument. With regard to Bridgewater though, don't know if he actually said anything behind the scenes, but his public comments about Teddy did make the idea of bringing him back difficult and awkward.
  16. I seriously doubt Rhule cares about protecting anything but his own ass.
  17. Not so sure that's accurate. We scored in the last quarter of the Falcons game and Darnold played in that quarter. Heck, just two weeks prior we scored a few against the Vikes. Went to the Instagram account that posted that pic to see. Looks like it's not there anymore. I mean, heaven knows there's criticisms to be made of Darnold but it can be done without getting the facts wrong.
  18. Kinda doubt it's got anything to do with "protecting Cam". General consensus is he's highly unlikely to be brought back next year.
  19. "Fat, rich and clueless is no way to run an NFL team, Dave." (also, don't put ketchup on your steak)
  20. That's actually a pretty good summary of it. If we win, he takes credit. If we lose, "we're still rebuilding".
  21. It's funny because the only concrete word anybody has on it is from Rhule himself, and even he stopped short of saying that Tepper promised him he'd be back. I mean granted, we've also got the wacky stuff from the banned gematria guy but ya know...
  22. Remember, he's making progress. You just can't see it. It's double secret progress!
