David Newton questions McCaffrey's support of Bridgewater
Mr. Scot replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
Newton's suggestion here is that McCaffrey was more supportive in prior comments made around the end of the season. I'm looking for what comments he might have referenced but so far haven't found anything. -

Posted above... Cause someone else might have seen it or posted a clip (which they did) Plus it being our star player talking about our quarterback situation, it's kinda relevant to us. But hey, I can start thread number 206 about trading for Deshaun Watson if you prefer. -
I think we've got some folks on here who are so desperate to have Newton back that they'll latch onto any decently athletic quarterback and project Cam's image onto him. "Oh, he can run? It's like Cam all over again." Heck, I even had somebody try and tell me the style of offense we use needs a running quarterback (not even remotely true). Honestly, I'm not sure people remember or understand just how much of an athletic marvel Newton really was. That size-speed combination is not exactly a common thing, and definitely not among quarterbacks. Folks need to realize we're not getting Cam Newton back. Hell, the next QB we get might have a style of play completely dissimilar to Newton.

The offense was modeled on Drew Brees. Nobody was ever scared of Drew Brees running on them. A WCO like we run only needs a QB who can move around in the pocket when necessary. Having a guy who's also a run threat is nice, but not at all necessary. If we were still running Rivera's style of offense maybe, but we're not. Far from it.

No we don't, not for the offense we run. As for finding the next Cam, quarterbacks with his combination of characteristics don't exactly grow on trees.
-
I'm fine with that as long as he's not a member of Rex Grossman's "F--- it, I'm going deep" Club.
-
McClain's been saying that for a while but nobody wanted to listen. I do think the Raiders will probably be willing to part with Carr. There was talk of it last year, and heaven knows Jon Gruden is always willing to change quarterbacks.

Don't know, but they could always trade to someone who will.

Seems this was a well timed thread.

How close did the Panthers come to getting Stafford? Dang close.
Mr. Scot replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think Tepper sort of admitted (albeit without directly admitting) that he screwed up keeping Marty on for as long as he did. He has also basically said that he's going to stay out of Rhule and Fitterer's way rather than trying to be something he's not. -

Well he's fired now, so there's that. -
Saw the clip of Israel Raybon. Got one of Kindal Moorehead's shoulder interception?

Heck of a read here: Kam Chancellor tells the story of watching that play from the sidelines of the Seahawks last Super Bowl.

I went to look up his stats as a Panther. Here they are:

Trade up with Dolphins seems the most likely at this point
Mr. Scot replied to AU-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
I have a hard time believing anything happens until much closer to the draft. The Dolphins aren't going to want to trade out of that spot anytime soon just in case Houston changes their mind about trading Watson. -

I've seen a couple of different mocks recently that have us trading up to get the number five spot from the Bengals.
