Is the NFL priming us to have new minority owners?
Mr. Scot replied to DaveThePanther2008's topic in Carolina Panthers
Richardson wasn't exactly forced, but as time went on he got grumpy about the process and started saying stuff like "I don't have to sell this team of I don't want to". The NFL's response was along the lines of "no take backs". -
Cignetti is a guy I'd looked at as a potential addition.
-
FYI: TE Coach Brian Angelichio has left to pursue "other opportunities". (the fourth assistant coach to do so). Kevin Gilbride Jr is his replacement.

Del Rio over Vic Fangio?
-
I wouldn't say I'm against it. I am kinda surprised by it. Starting to wonder if Adam Henry is a world class a--hole or something. I doubt anyone would disagree that the Cowboys receivers were well coached under him, but nobody seems to want him (the Cowboys included).
-
Much as I love Proehl, our best receiver coach was Richard Williamson. I'd take Mike Trgovac over Eric Washington too. Brad Seely is likely the top special teams coach. Some would say Scott O'Brien but everyone who had to work with him hated him. OC is Dan Henning or Gil Haskell.

I'm married to one.

No pro experience... No Malik Willis connection; Willis didn't get to Liberty till after he left... College bio here: link

Cowboy fans think it too.

Passed away a while back, didn't he? My favorite Sam memory is the interception that sealed the first playoff win against Dallas.

I'm probably not the only one who remembers Sam taking down Ironhead Heyward one on one.

Scott Fitterer has an NFL resumé. So does Dan Morgan. Matt Rhule never will. Until Matt Rhule is relieved of his duties, I don't feel comfortable judging anyone else for his sins, with one exception. David Tepper. -
Eli Apple is a jerk. But Matt Rhule has about as much standing to talk about him as Jimmy Clausen does to criticize...well, anyone

Fans of Zach Thomas are dragging the NFL for enshrining Sam Mills over Thomas. Peter King has responded. Here's what King wrote about Mills in his FMIA column: Lots of criticism over the process this year. (Like most years.) The beefs: It’s become the Hall of Very Good. How do you leave Ware and Hester out? Holy crap: Sam Mills over Zach Thomas? Let’s talk about Mills. To me, he is a player the Hall of Fame should celebrate 365 days a year. He was a 5-9 linebacker no college was interested in out of high school in New Jersey. He had to walk on to a Division III school, Montclair (N.J.) State College, and became the three-time conference defensive player of the year. He got cut twice the year after he left college, by the NFL’s Browns and the CFL’s Toronto Argonauts. No matter how well he played, the 5-9 stigma stuck to him. He was adrift, until a new football league formed. Given a chance by the startup USFL’s Philadelphia Stars and coach Jim Mora in 1983, he was a USFL all-pro for all three years of the league. He followed Mora to New Orleans, led the team in tackles in seven of his nine seasons. “He’s the best player I ever coached,” Mora said. Onto expansion Carolina. At 36, he led the Panthers in tackles, interceptions, forced fumbles and was third in Defensive Player of the Year voting. At 37, he led the Panthers to the NFC Championship Game in their second year—and had 47 more tackles than anyone on the team. In 15 pro seasons, he led his team in tackles 12 times, and was a defensive captain for three franchises that made the playoffs. He played three years for the Panthers and was so beloved that they put a statue of him outside the stadium. “When you’re my size, you have to prove yourself every play, every day,” he once said. That is a Hall of Fame football player. And that’s why when people say it’s become the Hall of Very Good, I point to Sam Mills and say, “He wasn’t a very good player. He was a great one.” ... Whatever you may think or feel about King, this is a good response.

FYI: Per Albert Breer, most around the NFL feel this year's free agent OL class is pretty weak. -
What's the last laugh? As Rayzor pointed out, he played in a championship game that Matt Rhule is never even going to come close to. Not sure how Rhule "wins" on any level here.

For the record, we have a GM with over 20 years of experience in college scouting, and a solid reputation for doing it well. We also have an assistant GM who's considered a riding star in the pro scouting department, so much so that he's been looked at for GM opportunities already because of it. And in authority over them both, we have Matt Rhule -
And as a final post script... ... because apparently video lies

Sadly, already confirmed by more than one source that Rhule still has full roster control. It's written into his contract. (Tepper is a numbskull) -
People who leave the Panthers behind increase their chances of holding a Lombardi Trophy... ...even if they aren't football players.

How far would the Stafford led Panthers have gone?
Mr. Scot replied to Sean Payton's Vicodin's topic in Carolina Panthers
Joe Burrow couldn't overcome his terrible offensive line. Does that mean he's not a franchise QB?
