It's possible he was benched for the simplest reason: he wasn't playing like he was being coached and asked to play. Instead he decided to revert to some weird version of how he played at Alabama because his dad told him to or something.

Great post fiz. Only thing I'd add is that Bryce clearly isn't playing QB the way Canales teaches it. I think it's likely he's listening to hid dad saying to "play like you did at Alabama." If you don't bench a guy who directly contradicts your coaching how can the other guys respect you?

I see it as a positive in that they knew they were signing up for a multiple year rebuild. The Brooks pick is proof of that. I don't have proof of this but I do believe they both also came in knowing that year 2 would be identifying the QB of the future.

To be fair Dan and Dave were saddled with him. No one in the building thinks Bryce has the dawg mentality. Except his weird dad I guess.

It's really pretty simple. Opening day kicks off. ~22 teams are eliminated from Super bowl contention immediately based on their QB play. There is no planet where Bryce becomes one of the other 10.

I agree 100%. The time investment of the fans matters. Patience does not last forever. I think we'll see a Bryce injury by week 4 or 5.

Vegas is very good. There are no sure things. I will say that 38.5 feels like a low total when our defense isn't holding anyone to less than 27 all season.

The one trait he supposedly excelled at was the "elite processing " ability. In reality, he has no feel or instincts at all. He can't diagnose a blitz and get the ball out in time. If he actually sees someone open, that's when the panic starts and it's overthrown 5+ yards.
