10 best free agent WRs and TEs per The Athletic
kungfoodude replied to ladypanther's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think Chark and Meyers are the only two of those WR's I would want to sign to a longer term deal. Not a great FA WR class. -
Yeah, you gotta think that we go QB and WR. I am amped. We finally did something smart.

This will just be another thing to laugh at in a few years when height and weight are brought up. Same shade that keeps getting thrown at these smaller QB's that are currently getting massive contracts in the NFL. The thought process just isn't sound.
-
I think if you have to use height against a QB, you can't find any other flaws with him. Height is one of the least relevant factors.

Well the question really is if not now then when? I don't really anticipate us ever being much of a player in the free agency market after the Watson deal. So do you just hope that you tank in the future? Because the price to trade up for a "Lawrence-like prospect" is probably going to be far higher than normal. Do you trade 4 first round picks and change? More? I think at the end of the day it's time to do something. We need to get this 5+ year issue resolved eventually.

Levis is gonna be a fixer-upper. So you have to be convinced you are handy enough to be able to turn him into a finished product. Richardson is just raw material. His fundamentals are very questionable and he is a straight up project. If we are gonna aim for a QB in the draft, why not just go after Young and Stroud who are much closer to being finished products?

This is a great class to get a good TE in the 2nd round. There may even be quality players still left in the 3rd.

How can you predict the success of a college QB in the NFL?

Hard to say, TBH. I think it will start to become a little clearer closer to the draft as lips loosen up. -

IMO, the gulf between Young/Stroud and the rest is worth taking the gamble on to trade up. -
You gotta think that our options for veteran QB's just got more limited. It will be interesting to see how aggressive we get in the draft to move up.

Sounds like the terms may be standard fare for NO. Lots of bonus money and a low salary. Really very interested in the details here.
-
Curious to see the numbers here.

I read a blurb about scouting comments from Indy that basically said his combine didn't move the needle that much. He was expected to blow away the athletic marks there but all the questions about him are if he can develop into an accurate passer. I honestly don't think it is impossible that he falls to 9.

Hence the between the ears comment. It is his biggest career limiting factor.

Murray's struggles are about 98% between his ears.

Charlie Campbell: Panthers love Bijan Robinson
kungfoodude replied to thunderraiden's topic in Carolina Panthers
I would genuinely be upset to take him in the first round. We literally just rectified the previous mistake doing that so going back to that well seems so obviously foolish. -

From the rumor mill, apparently Robinson is near the top of most draft boards in terms of overall prospect quality. It's also unlikely he ends up being a top 10 pick. -
Guess which QB calls himself Cam Jackson?
kungfoodude replied to top dawg's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yeah, it's more optics than reality. Definitely an odd follow up to looking up to Lamar and Cam who have been fairly model citizens(the laptop thing, sure). -

That's a pretty odd choice of role models considering what they are largely known for. I am sure he didn't mean anything other than their play on the field but I probably wouldn't have said that in the modern era. -
David Newton's tweet deserves own thread
kungfoodude replied to top dawg's topic in Carolina Panthers
David Newton is about as dumb as they come. Anything from his mouth is probably more likely to be untrue than true.
