You think he will get $8 mil????
-
I think most Panther fans are going to quickly see that retaining BC is likely to be pretty easy. I would make a hefty wager that he will end up with a far smaller deal that Corbett does.
-
Winslow was worth a top 10??? He is right, the history of top 10 TE's is pretty bad.
-
This is also one of the deepest positions in this draft, so unless he is Bowers 2.0, it's probably a bad pick. There has to be no question he is an elite TE. Otherwise you look as foolish as Atlanta did with Pitts.
-
If things go well, this is still a multi-year rebuild. Fans need to dissuade themselves of the notion of next season being some miraculous turnaround. This is a long term project because of how devastating the roster deconstruction was.
-
I don't think any of these guys are top 10 guys. That's a reach, IMO. It's a very deep TE class, so that doesn't seem wise. Warren is a trade down option, IMO
-
I will say that if we want to assist the offense, adding a high level pass catching TE threat like Fannin Jr. or Elijah Arroyo is a good idea.
-
I have been saying if McMillian was there at 8 I would take him for weeks. Higgins is the better option but he really has little reason to want to come here unless we are willing to outbid the entire rest of the NFL.
-
There will be guys available in the top 60 of the draft that can help. You never know, perhaps McMillian drops to 8 and the matter takes care of itself. Or make a good FA signing(more likely).
-
Draft BPA.
-
Garrett specifically wanted to go to a contending team. We are the exact opposite of that.
-
I hope we have some idea about general offseason direction after that.
-
Well the response was to the "physical abilities" and a good portion of those guys listed were incredibly physically talented. Arm talent is a physical ability.

Daniel Jeremiah: Panthers prime trade candidate
kungfoodude replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
IDK. I don't think that is the case. The scuttlebutt seems to be that this is a very, very bad QB draft outside the top two guys. -
Corbett is also just not a center. I will never understand the thought process with that move overall. Admittedly, he was better than expected. I really thought it was going to be a disaster. Knowing this is all void years left, I just don't see much justification keeping Corbett. We have our answers at OG and he doesn't make sense as a backup unless he is planning on taking a VERY team friendly deal. Make some FA moves and draft moves and try to get an upgrade at C and some more depth alongside the current guys.
-
I didn't see that 2025 was a void year. Oof. Yeah, we are in a rough spot there. We picked poorly on an injured guy to play Saints cap tricks.
-
The only savings we would get are post June 1 designation. It will be interesting to see what they decide to do. I suspect we restructure and keep him as C #1.
-
Sure Corbett is better than Zavala or Mays but what does that matter if he is on IR? Zavala and Mays are at least available. Corbett would be nice depth but he also has to be comfortable being a backup, which he may not want. Additionally, we have so much invested at OG that it really makes very little sense to have an expensive OG backup, as well. If he isn't in the cards at center, there isn't really a reason to keep him around.
-
The examples are so many it is pathetic. These are professionals. There is zero reason laypeople or amateur draftniks should be better than our FO. Unless you are a Millen-esque GM. Somehow we have had several. Maybe Mike Mayock is a good recent comp? One good draft out of three and basically just a TV guy.
-
It's literally indefensible how bad it has been. The only real competition is probably the Belichick Pats over that timespan.
-
That's fair. Again, literally the collective Huddle consensus has been leaps and bounds better than the Panthers drafting since at least 2017. We have had over that timespan one of the worst draft histories in the NFL. That's multiple incompetent fugs, not just one or two.
-
It's going to be hard to justify having a player as expensive as Corbett on the bench, especially when he is likely a better player than Mays. IMO, Mays is not really a great developmental prospect as as a prospective starter but he is very valuable as a utility OG/C backup. I feel the same way about BC. You don't want him starting because he generally is worse than all of our starters at each position. But his ability to come in and competently replace a multitude of positions is very valuable. To that note on development of these guys, however, we do need to keep adding OL depth almost every draft. That way eventually we can get out from under these onerous contracts at OG. I love Lewis and Hunt but we can't keep having two of the highest paid guards in the NFL that aren't also consistently All Pro caliber players.
-
I don't have any better term for thinking this FO/Ownership is better than internet randos. Stockholm Syndrome? Does that one fit you better?
-
I think a lot of it is also just excessive confidence in the ability to develop a player into what they believe they CAN be rather than what they are. I have experienced this ample amounts of time in the working world. You see people with tantalizing abilities but they don't have great desire to achieve their potential and so they don't. I have been fooled by this many times by seeing the potential rather than what they were and thought too highly of my ability to mold them into a better worker/employee/etc. It doesn't matter if you have an exact read on someone's motivating factors and basic psychological profile if they just don't have the motivation to excel. Which, switching back to NFL scouting it's a fine line because you might find the smartest and most motivated person in the sport but if their physical abilities are just too far from being capable of excelling in the environment, there is nothing that can be done.
