  1. I am a consistent PFF defender but they aren't doing science more "sciencey." Remember their metrics are based on human judges. The way they determine "catchable" and "uncatchable" is also likely to be imperfect. It's a good stat but you sort of tried to put out articles that backed up this stat as a predictor of success that were just bad articles(mostly due to time since they had been posted and being proved wrong). The stats themselves I have not a lot of issue with. I generally agree that accuracy is one of the more solid predictors of NFL success. But it doesn't really require digging that far into it, simple completion percentage is an accurate enough predictor. I think they are likely a decent trend with a fairly wide margin for error. Interesting to see, regardless.
  2. Pretty sure he has been Randy for the past few years.
  3. Yeah, I think that's draftniks saying that. I think they more down because he didn't "progress." His mechanics are gonna get him in trouble in the NFL.
  4. That has been classic recent Panthers, completely ignore the strengths of a draft on draft day.
  5. TBH, Simms is a far better judge of accuracy than PFF. I like PFF just fine but they aren't going to understand or easily be able to deduce things like ball placement, timing, throwing mechanics, etc. Simms can much more easily deduce who is going to be an accurate thrower just because he has an extremely well trained eye. He's done it for decades. He's from a family that has done it. Not to say PFF doesn't have value but when it comes to prospect evaluation, Simms is WAAAAAAY more qualified to make an evaluation than just taking a PFF stat. That really shouldn't be a controversial opinion for that matter. PFF is good at some things but prospect evaluation they are pretty awful at. You can't solely break down college prospects purely statistically. It doesn't work.
  6. Well that first article is really cringe worthy considering how terribly it aged. That definitely doesn't even stand up to the limited amount of time it has been since it was written. The second snippet also doesn't look that great when you loom at their rookie seasons. I understand what you are probably trying to say, and I don't necessarily completely disagree but those articles are pretty bad.
  7. Herbert was fairly accurate, he did have one subpar year. Lance was hard to quantify because he only played one season. Had he played another year with similar results(almost 67% completion percentage), I think those concerns would have been less. I think Willis will predominately take advantage of this just being a weak class overall more than anything. If you are gonna miss, why not miss on a guy with his kind of skillset?
  8. How much money and how long a time period?
  9. On average, accuracy is one of the traits that translates the best to the NFL.
  10. Scouts aren't down on his production, they are down on his tape.
  11. We don't need him to talk to us. We need him to stop talking to the football people in the building.
  12. I am down for them failing miserably and accidentally having to make a smart choice. Sign me up for that plan.
  13. Depends on price. I can argue that getting Jimmy G or Baker is superior....because it's over after one season. Imagine had we not picked up Darnold's 5th year option? Cost aside, at least we are talking about it in the past tense.
  14. They got so caught up in winning the fantasy draft points battle that they forgot about the simplest part of the draft....draft the best players.
  15. Well neither getting Jimmy G nor drafting a QB from the 2022 class gets us where we want to go in the long run.
  16. I think it just comes down to whether SF can eat the cap hit versus waiting to get what they want in a trade. If they are smart they get a mid-round pick for him and call it a day. If they can't get that, just cut him.
  17. Jimmy G is better than these guys. Will Jimmy G get us where we need to go under a GOOD coaching staff? No. Will he get us there under this terrible coaching staff? HELLLLLL no.
  18. Dumb in the sense that these aren't the QB's to build around. Don't get me wrong, the logic is sound in what he is saying but if these are the guys you want to build around.......well......God Bless.
  19. The second part is the biggest portion. If you think this is the year........well....please send Marty back....
  20. Sooo....Fitterer may be the actual dumb one? JFC....what a train wreck.
