Triggering Every NFL Fanbase: NFC Edition
kungfoodude replied to L-TownCat's topic in Carolina Panthers
I share his hatred for the Pats and Brady. -
Well, Brady was a 33, Cam was a 21, Russell Wilson was a 28, Peyton Manning was 28, Pat Mahomes was a 24... Josh Rosen was a 29, Brock Osweiler was a 25, Johnny Manziel was 32, David Carr was 24, Jimmy Clausen was a 23, Fitzmagic was 48, Eli Manning was a 39.... In truth, I think this has been looked at before and the Wonderlic didn't have much correlation with NFL success.
-
Well, the issue with that is that he only has this season and next. So, if he blows up this year, do you risk that last year of his deal to be a tiebreaker? I suppose we have a franchise tag to use on him to extend that period. Which......I am completely down to have the "problem" of having to decide how much to pay a QB that has been playing lights out for us.
-
That could be it too. The lack of soul would make that a likely situation.
-
Yes, he's a ginger. It's the lack of soul that prevents him from understanding things.
-
And Robby will be 30 when he is in the last year of his deal. That's normally about the time span you expect a WR to start their decline. Similar to how the CMC deal was, we seem to have hit the mark on the average time an NFL player is effective at their position when we structured some of these deals. Intentional or not.
-
This too. Lots of preseason MVP's had really short NFL careers. I like what I see from them but let's wait until they are top 5 rookies AFTER the season before we talk of tough decisions on personnel in the WR corps.

I remember my opinion on Cam Newton being drafted by us. I have mentioned it in here many times. "Biggest mistake in franchise history." Pretty happy to have been proven so wholly wrong and watched arguably the best player in franchise history. Same with Luke. Wasn't against the player, just didn't see it as a "need." Loved every moment of his career. None of us are right all the time. But very few own up to their incorrect opinions when they are faced with hindsight. Especially when they have such strong opinions they fought so vehemently about. That's a class of people that I simply cannot understand. IMO, there is likely less than a 5% chance this Sam Darnold experiment works out and I am being VERY generous. However, I am not gonna come on here throwing out the "I told you so's" if we are taking losses as he fugs it up left and right. Nor am I going to shy away from that view if he lights it up and becomes a true franchise star. The point of being a fan is to want the best for your team. If you want the best for your argument or opinion just to score points with anonymous people on the internet OVER the success of your team.....well......you really aren't a fan at all, are you? Those people deserve to be highlighted and scorned.

I don't see a big reason for concern. Is it possible that they don't see him in the future plans? Yes. Is it likely? No. The biggest question will be what DJ wants and will we be willing(or really should we) pay it. I don't think we should infer anything about their intentions for DJ Moore from the Robby deal.
-
Wait....is PFF good again?
-
No doubt. I just did a big West Coast trip(WA, OR, CA) so I saw the good and the bad. No place is as homogenous as people left, right and center like to stereotype.
-
Well said but @ladypanther has a point. We've called them out and none have shown up to at least admit they were incorrect, so let them pretend they didn't start or repeat that ignorant poo. This is one dead horse that can stop being beaten. As you are well aware, by the first 10 minutes of Friday's game there will be declarations of "best football team ever" and "worst football team ever" and "start this guy" and "cut that guy." Plenty of other ignorant poo to harp on. I'm gonna let this issue go after I have gotten to vent about it for the past couple of days.
-
At this point it's repeating it to call them out on their idiocy. I will let it go after this thread, as only one of them had the nuts to show their faces in any of the post-signing Robby threads and not a single one of them had the nuts to say they were wrong. /rant I don't get upset about most of the Huddle nonsense but watching our own fans start that rumor and spread it pissed me off.
-
I have lived and worked all over the country for the past couple of decades. It never ceases to amaze me that wherever you are in the country, you can find some backwards people that still exist like that. Some places are a little more "special" than others......
-
Yeah, that's obviously the ideal scenario. But it would be nice to just be one of those teams that if we wanted to make that kind of splash signing at the most important position in football, we could get an elite QB to come here because we are a contender. That's why I want to see. Players WANT to come here because they see an opportunity to get a ring.
-
The thing that pissed me off so royally about all that poo was that it was a rumor primarily started by our own fanbase, based on no factual/verifiable or even reasonable rumor mill information. We had rumblings from a lot of areas about Cam's last year and him potentially wanting a new deal. There was some media smoke and inside sources that at least spoke to that. This Robby nonsense was 100% self inflicted wounds. It was our fanbase creating an issue where none existed at all. Even worse, you still have people doubling down on this after it was so thoroughly proven incorrect over the past couple of days. Edit: Even worse, was some of the Sunshine Squad that cry from thread to thread in this forum about all the negativity that kept perpetuating this idiotic and harmful narrative. What the fug kind of fan pushes some poo like that?
-
Yeah, he took a beating at times while he was in Detroit so I don't think I would want to step in here behind this OL either. Not to mention, the Rams have championship pedigree and a track record of recent success. We can't offer up 4 straight winning seasons, three playoff appearances, two division titles, and a Super Bowl berth in our last four years. That's a pretty easy decision for me if I am Matt Stafford. That's why when people talk about a guy like Rodgers or Rivers wanting to come here, I just chuckle. I get the fantasy but this isn't the 2015/2016/2017 Panthers. All our luster is gone, however much it was in the first place. We just have to grind each season and offseason to build back up to being a team that a veteran QB wants to come to. Maybe in 5, 6, 7 years we can be the win now destination for someone like Russell Wilson, Dak Prescott, Deshaun Watson, etc. Someone in a similar position career wise as those guys are now.

My anger was having to sit in a sports bar in the asshole, middle of fuging nowhere in southern Georgia Cam's HOME STATE and listen to a bunch of racist fuging rednecks trash him and root for the "Great White Hope" in Peyton Manning. You want to talk about raging anger. The only reason I didn't get into a fight was I had a couple of work buddies there with me. I'm not that type at all but the poo I had to listen to while we were taking the screwing of the decade from those refs and our coaching staff......boy I was fighting mad.
