We've always heard using FA to set up the draft

If we get as many starters as that, then it was a great draft. I don't see that happening, however. -
I don't think these predictions are very outlandish at all.

We have traditionally been fairly decent depth wise, but after the Ron firing we absolutely gutted that roster(not without reason). 2020, even with the drafted talent, was such an insanely bad roster. Even with some quality starters the bench was so bad in a lot of the position groups. I really hope we can start to get back to having a real NFL depth chart again. -
No reason to ruin that surprise.

Would you be okay with Horn getting suspended after pulling out a cell phone in the end zone following a pick six at the Superdome?

Bitch, quit straining those multi-million dollar legs.

Eh....I feel like we eat our own better than most in The Huddle. Huddle Hate is kind of a tradition. It comes after Huddle Homerism starts to turn.

I didn't like much from Day Two and I didn't feel like we effectively addressed the issues with the OL. Those were my biggest criticisms overall. I am a little nervous about passing on Slater and Fields at 8, but I have warmed up a lot to that pick overall. Outside Horn, I feel like we probably got more depth guys than starters from this draft. That makes me less excited but our roster depth was abysmal last season, so every bit helps. -

Agreed. If they have another HR draft, espwcially one that was a lot more polarizing than last year, I think we may have something special here. -
I just meant it more as a warning that if Darnold starts to fail(which is admittedly more likely than not), it might get kind of rough in here for a single player fan. We had a lot of Auburn fans come for Cam and a few Louisville fans come for Teddy. The Huddle can get a little vicious about it's QB's. I don't personally believe much in Darnold's ability at the NFL level but I certainly wish him the best. It would be awesome to have a franchise QB again.

BPA works if your scouting works. I think we have executed similarly before, but our evaluations were off. It wasn't until the end that Nippleshorts started panic reaching in the draft(which ultimately started to be his undoing). I am definitely a lot less excited about this draft class than last year's. But, I do think this class might finally solve some roster depth issues we have had since The Great Purge(and before). -
So now we have USC fans on the bandwagon for Darnold? Might want to ask the Auburn fans and Louisville fans how that turned out....

Other than going to a Utah based college, I am confused why people keep comparing Christensen to Gross. Jordan had an outstanding college career, became a top 10 pick and was the consensus top OL in the 2003 draft. Christensen has some decent potential but we shouldn't be confusing him for arguably the best offensive lineman to ever play for this franchise. If he is half of what Gross was, that was still a good pick.

Aaron Rodgers probably doesn't make us a serious Super Bowl contender, although we may be a much better team immediately. If things go extremely well on this rebuild, we probably aren't in the discussion for 2-3 more seasons. You don't go from 0 to Super Bowl overnight. It is gonna take time.
-
I don't think he wants to be here. I am not even sure he would be happy on a West Coast team. I think he just hasn't realized that he is over football.
-
The media/fan pressure will be extreme after trading all that for him. Should be an interesting circus to watch from afar.
-
I wouldn't think the NFLPA would have allowed that. I won't be upset if we can do that. I would certainly like to have less dead cap next season than $18.6 mil or not have to scramble to trade him. You have any of those articles handy? I haven't actually seen any mentioning that option specifically.
-
Well, that was already a Super Bowl participant team without Lance. You have to look at it this way, if they viewed Lance as "the guy" then they made the move they thought they had to. Doesn't mean that they may jump in with two feet right away. Even Mahomes(who was a guy they traded up for) wasn't in the immediate plans for KC. Lance is acknowledged to be a project too. No reason to rush him if he needs more time.

I would be curious to see how they manage that. My understanding was that the rookie deals are basically scaled and there isn't much tinkering allowed.
-
It's probably an inevitability that this happens. Let's hope it doesn't happen until Belichick retires. Who knows how he will find a way to cheat that system.

Since we picked up the 5th year for Darnold, he would still carry a very substantial dead cap hit next year($18.6 mil) when we move on from him. I suspect he will be easier to trade than Bridgewater was, however. I am genuinely stunned we got anything at all for him. Fitterer looks like a genius based on that trade alone.
