  1. I think it just depends. There is going to be some nuance to the discussions. Maybe he feels he would be more successful in GB/LA (and is likely right) but won't force the issue. If that's the case, I'm keeping him. But yes, if he absolutely doesn't want to be here, let him go (or try to trade for minimal compensation to offset your future loss)
  2. In the MMQB, Breer speculates that Evero could force his way out to go to the Rams or Packers because he is friends with the coach and they are better teams. I think it's nonsensical. Evero's HC candidacy hasn't taken a hit at all; he's still gotten multiple interviews. If Canales wants him, I think he stays. And I'm ok with Carolina forcing the contract unless they think he will be disruptive (which is doubtful because he is very professional). There is a lot at stake with him being DC. He's a top guy that won't be able to be replaced , especially this late. They also would be sacrificing the (2) third round comp picks for when/if he gets hired as a HC.
  3. I’d agree. But there is 0 indication they aren’t letting him leave if he actually wants to go anywhere . Canales wouldn’t want an unhappy defensive coordinator before the season even starts.
  4. sure but that has Nothing to do with Carolina keeping him as a DC. your post made it out like the Panthers are the bad guys for wanting to keep him even though he wasn’t promoted.
  5. He wasn't offered a HC job anywhere else. If he wanted to leave, Canales wouldn't hold him here against his will. That's a terrible way to build camaraderie amongst your first NFL staff. Don't make stuff up.
  6. I said same thing in twitter and Former panther OL, Mike Wahle responded to me. he said OC/QB communication and scheme play a huge role in OL blitz pickup and stunt pickup. He also said our scheme was almost all straight drop backs with little diversity and our OL struggles in straight pass pro (we know that) He said that’s Campens specialty (I think Campen coached him in GB). Canales shuffled TB OL to match their players skill set. And called plays to match their strength. hope same happens here. Rhules scheme played against our OL strengths.
  7. Torn on this one. On one hand, he's a good ST coach. On the other, he was absolutely involved in the tattling mentality the staff had. I also wonder about Campen. I don't think he can be retained considering how poorly his unit performed even though he has a good reputation. His line couldn't pick up blitzes or stunts. That's coaching. Even if it's with backups, and 3rd string guys. They should at least know their assignments.
  8. This is it right here. People can point to the TB offense stats being average. Or that he had weapons so it was easier, etc. His first job is to LEAD the entire football team. Give direction for the staff and whole organization. He oozes charisma when he talks in these videos. He is personable. The players are going to love this type of coach. Think a younger Pete Carroll (who he learned under for ~10 years) AND then you look at the history he has had with developing QBs and some of his schemes. I think he can be a really good coach. Staff hires are obviously critical. And more talent. But I'm excited.
  9. I haven't seen any "defenders" in this thread. His season stunk. The team stunk. The coaching stunk. It's absolutely his fault he played poorly. Other factors absolutely contributed too. All I've seen are a few people who think he's still young and has the potential to be a successful NFL starter. I choose to be hopeful because it's more fun that way. **You can choose to be a fan how you wish. I saw another poster say this and I like it.**
  10. https://twitter.com/JFowlerESPN/status/1750888703294152762?s=20 Seahawks passing game coordinator Sanjay Lal withdrew his name from consideration as Bears OC. He coached with Canales. Maybe there is something there?
  11. I like you. Some of these miserable depressed dudes need some sunshine, a vacation, and coochie. Have a little hope.
  12. Like what? The only thing IMO is crappy footwork. His throwing motion is ok. Weight transfer comes with better footwork.
  13. Unfortunately, think it's actually unlikely that Evans, Pittman, and Higgins are all FAs. Guys of that caliber don't hit the open market. Best realistic targets are Ridley and Hollywood. Need to draft a WR, preferably at 33. Maybe trade Theilein if price is right. Mingo had a fine year for a rookie WR with a rookie QB on a terrible offense. Everybody else is out the door.
  14. Morgan may still be that on the unofficial basis as President of Football. We don't know and won't know unless somebody in the team shares their org chart. I'm going to choose to be hopeful because being miserable and pessimistic all offseason is depressing .
  15. You don't bulk up at 16. He's 22. Adults can bulk significantly more easily. They will have hour limits with training, practice, etc at NCAA. His entire life right now is to fix those problems. And Alabama (and Reich) clearly didn't try to fix his footwork. Throwing mechanics are fine. No reason to even discuss with you. There isn't one thing that can be said that will even allow you to slightly open your mind. I'm not saying he's gonna be amazing but damn, give the kid a chance to improve. He's going to be the QB anyway so you might as well hope he works on the problems.
  16. By all reports, the kid is an incredibly hard worker. And we know he was pissed how the season went. I'm sure he will work on his body. His frame will limit it for sure but I bet he can put on 5-10 pounds pretty easily.
  17. You guys are miserable. lol He is not BROKEN. The offense was and he contributed. Young can easily still be a good player in this league. Average NFL arm. But when given time was incredibly accurate. He hit the open receiver when there was one. We hardly ran any play action, bootlegs, jet sweep action. All of that will allow him to isolate matchups and have a quicker and easier read. Those are all the things Bryce can excel at. Just need Morgan to work some OL/WR magic (and maybe some better injury luck)
  18. And Brandt Tillis is also mentioned in this article with Forde in it. No surprise then that Tepper is looking to bring him on after KC season ends.
  19. https://us.londonspeakerbureau.com/speaker-profile/mike-forde/ https://www.theringer.com/nfl/2022/1/6/22869889/nfl-coaching-carousel-avoid-mistakes _ Forde is basically the entire article. Can't find the link for Sportsology and Shannhan/Lynch but you'll find it if you look hard enough, out there somewhere.
  20. they recommended Canales as a HC candidate. The last two they helped hire: McVay and Kyle Shannahan.
  21. WOW! https://x.com/RapSheet/status/1750565340042457348?s=20 I really like Canales but hate that we didn't even interview Johnson, Macdonald, Slowik a 2nd time.
  22. I still have hope for Bryce. But even if he ends up being successful, it's still an F. We traded the #1 pick for the #1 pick, #9 pick, 2 2nds, and DJ Moore. The CMC trade also is an F based on who we selected with the returned picks.
  23. Yea but this isn't knowing about football. It's understanding your personality and organization and why it has failed. I think he's seen where he has gotten in the way. Otherwise this interview doesn't even happen.
  24. Atlanta has interviewed almost every candidate out there. I have absolutely no clue which direction they are going to go. I thought Bill B was a sure thing and now I'd guess that's a long shot? I'll still be happy with Canales. but I'm just happy we are turning over every stone. For the record, I wanted Harbaugh or Ben Johnson as my ideal guy. Harbaugh is a lost cause but Johnson could still be an option. Washington appears intrigued with others as well.
  25. I'm not saying he hasn't been a terrible owner. I'm just saying I think he's self reflective. Maybe his own tendencies will fail him in the end. But I do think he's making an effort to fix it. And Vrabel is too accomplished to just give a token interview IMO. He wouldn't waste his own time if he wasn't open to it. This isn't a zoom like the others.
