When Frank was fired in SD in 2015…87% of the offensive snaps were from shotgun that year. He was always heavy shotgun in Indy. it’s what Frank is. And that’s when Frank wasn’t paired with a super young shotgun heavy Bama QB named Bryce Young. it’s a bad marriage. One of many we have. and yes, it turns into a tell IMO. That teams that virtually never go under C become very predictable under C. Im fine with a heavy shotgun RPO look if you got a legit runner at QB. Run game can work great in that scenario. Eagles, Ravens and the Cam Panthers have shown that. We aren’t going to run the ball well with a small ball QB that can’t run….running out of the gun. You are going to need to supplement the run with the short pass and we don’t have the personnel. Which was always silly entering this year without it. We have early down committee rushers

Frank is definitely playing not to lose and doesn’t appear to really trust or like Bryce much in his present day offense. take it back to week 1. He didn’t even trust Bryce on 4th down. That’s was a red flag. And you can see the difference in the playbook with Dalton vs Seattle and then looking at Bryce’s game. I still wish we had decent reporters that followed up on Frank’s batshit reasoning for inserting Dalton on 4th down. He gave them options over Bryce that he claimed had nothing to do with size. Well…..what exactly were the non size related options Frank Dalton gave you?!

I feel being a cautionary tale would mean it would have to present a new lesson for people…..Bryce doesn’t really do that. Bill Parcells basically said Bryce Young would need to be Jesus if we drafted him. Every basically knows how long of odds a QB of Young’s physical size are. It’s why there is one Brees and a bunch of people who aren’t.

Trevor didn’t have Thielen and our weak backfield was even better. And Urban Meyer made Matt Rhule look competent. Trevor was in a worse spot than Bryce. Trevor was also a physically built robot in a lab for the NFL, Bryce isn’t. There are going to be some things that will never be on the table for Bryce because of limitations that don’t apply to Trevor.
