I mean if you actually knew the inner workings of Bama over the last 20 years? It would have more drama than Game of Thrones. Sports on all levels is crazy. Especially pre NIL. But even the NIL era is going to be wild. To be a fly on the wall basically of any major sport org.

That’s always how it starts. Rhule and Fitt were a terrific match. They loved each other. Same with Rhule and Marty. Marty and Ron round 2. Same with Asshole Gettlemen and Ron. everyone is a perfect fit in the honeymoon start but as soon as the results don’t come. Fitt is the first to be ran over. nature of the beast. See it in front offices and even coaching staffs. NFL teams love a fall guy. Even if no one buys it lol. It’s totally my QB. I mean it’s the OC. Wait it was the GM. The rest of us know what we are doing.
-
True. But the opposite side of that coin sits out there too. Fields hitting and Bryce not. That’s a catastrophe. Then we are the #1 clown show. Because Fields fell to us and we passed, then we gave them DJ Moore, and 2 first rounders.
-
Yeah, that’s largely why I like my HC and GM to be paired up. It’s prevents the scapegoating and deflecting game. Fire Ron. But Keep Hurney. Fire Hurney. Keep Rhule Fire Rhule. But keep Fitt As soon as things get disappointing here….well it’s clearly just a GM/talent issue. Fire Fitt. Keep Frank.

Sports has always been a dirty business. All of them.
-
Maybe. Richardson got Marty to do a lot. Especially before and after the lockout talk window. Ron and Fox got Marty to do a lot too. But the masses don’t come running to defend Marty on all that stuff. at some point, Fitt can’t be shielded from everything
-
Well, if he was a Matt Rhule dude….he drafted him and immediately gave him the red headed step child treatment and gave him essentially no work/reps in camp.
-
That’s why it’s a GM question. We spent a 3rd and 4th on Corral. Way more than NE spent on what clearly looked like a better QB. to date, Fitts management of resources seems….questionable. At the least.
-
I mean the odds are certainly not in his favor. Not saying that.
-
I mean….Rhule out the door…. Fitt essentially gave up CMC, DJ Moore, 2023 first round pick, a 2024 first round pick, a 2nd, 3rd and 4th…all those assets to move up just a handful of spots in the draft. don’t get me wrong. I like Bryce. But playing the odds, that’s probably not great GMing.
-
That’s why sports is fun. Because that was likely said about guys from Jake Delhomme to PJ Walker. From Kurt Warner to Warren Moon.
-
Fitt traded up in the 3rd for a QB….who he couldn’t even get a 7th for a year later. the real story here is probably about our GM
-
Well, the cut partially answers some questions. He no longer fit/belonged here given what we now are. safe assumption they tried to trade him and couldn’t. A 7th would have been a get lol

Going into last season, I think they "predicted" it would be the 12th hardest. Think it ended up being the 30th hardest. So whatever it ends up being, there isn't much room to get easier. But I think SOS is overblown to an extent. Matchup and styles are more important.
-
what did our actual SOS end up being last year? Didn't we end up with like the 30th easiest schedule when it was all said and done? I mean, it's all about matchups ultimately. But we had it pretty easy last year. Not sure how much room there is to expect any easier schedule than what we ended up getting last year.
-
I agree. I think if you reordered things and start with Bryce Young. A lot of the guys we have wouldn't be guys we would ideally want. Icky seems like he belongs on John Fox team. Running at dudes and going play action off it. Sort like where he made his progress at last season. We knew coming in he leaned toward being a run blocker. And that just isn't the scheme you want in the end for Bryce Young. You want to set him back in shotgun and let him pick on a D.
-
I'd rather have Jalen Reagor on the bottom of the depth chart than some these TEs. Disappointment so far, but super young and only been on teams with really strong WR talent ahead of him.
-
yep, we could of played trash teams last year that just happened to be good at stopping the run....and we don't win 7 games last year. Matchups matter. We had ideal matchups for a team that had no QB. 10 games against the 10 worst run defenses.
-
and I hate when writers start talking SOS rankings in the preseason. We don't have the 4th easiest schedule. That will be determined at the end of the year. Now, it probably won't be one of the toughest. All it takes is a couple teams that are all different this year to be better than last year and it's a middle of the road schedule.
-
and Evero took over what was already a top NFL defense in Denver. It's not like he came in there and worked some magic to take them from weak to great.
-
Basic human nature. He was a 3rd round pick. We just drafted Bryce Young. That’s the direction of our future. And because Bryce is Bryce….he doesn’t fit the bill for backup for the near future either. so yeah, it’s an educated guess a 3rd round QB pick that was hurt last year would prefer to be in a better location. .
-
We literally just drafted Bryce Young #1. No young QB wants to be behind that and spend his time rooting for disaster. yeah, he wants to go somewhere like Carolina was pre Bryce probably. Unstable QB future. Where he has a chance to live out his dream. Take and a get a shot. No one is suggesting someone would trade and make him a starter immediately. He is a developmental project. He would have to grind. He isn’t going to be #2 here. We have the #1 overall pick starting. It would be malpractice for him be #2. For the dude aiding Young on the sideline and film room….be a dude who has seen only preseason action in his career. That offers zero to Young.
-
Well, the entire league knows we got a young QB that doesn’t want to be here. And doesn’t fit in with where we are as a franchise. that drives his value down. League negotiates knowing all that. Trey Lance once went for a billion dollars and could now be had for a dirty nickel. Life moves fast in the NFL. And he essentially is not much different at either price tag.
-
if you were considering him and liked him for a 3rd/4th ish in 2022…..why wouldn’t he be worth a 7th to you today? He is essentially a developmental rookie QB with a preseason to his name. I would assume Corral politely wants out of here. And I factor that in. There is nothing for Corral here. All sides see that. Corral is too young to be content being present day Andy Dalton for the next decade for us and holding a clipboard.
-
Send him to NE for. 7th. They just cut all their QBs
