  1. Well in the real world of the Carolina Panthers…they haven’t won in a half decade. Have a grand total of 2 winning seasons in the last 10 years. and in the real world, Tepper is in this “game”to build his wealth and influence. Anything else is just fun icing on the cake. and yeah, when you got a flaming bag of dog poo era like the Matt Rhule era was….I most certainly advocate throwing it all out the window. I’ve acknowledged there are exceptions to everything. Eagles? The worst coaching era their GM has been part of?? That coach had a better win % in Philly than any coach in our history has pulled here. And opened up with back to back winning seasons. Which makes the majority winning seasons. Hell, he was part of a freaking unicorn. He actually was part of a college football coach actually seeing success in the NFL. There was no clown show to throw the baby out with.
  2. I’m not talking about being in sync, working well together or any of that. literally nothing I am talking about is personality driven. We aren’t having the same convo. I’m talking about the predictable nature of deflecting blame via an unpaired coach/GM affords the owner. I simply prefer it not be that way. The problems are generally laid at the feet of the guy leaving and crazy mental gymnastics pulled for those left standing. We see that with Fitt now. Seen with others prior. So you just do a variation of what Tep does. Problem isn’t Rhule, it’s Hurney. Problem isn’t Fitt, it’s Rhule. My preference is to take that off the table. Hire people together to do it and if they can’t move on. That’s my preference. your counter argument is arguing against things I’m not saying. Can two dudes not hired together work well together? Yes. Hurney should have been fired with Fox. Rivera should have been a paired with his own GM. And when Ron and company’s time was done you start clean. You can argue exceptions to everything. But as a fan? Yeah, that’s what I want.
  3. lol. I mean, I think what you are attempting to do is simply disagree with me. The reason I don’t like the unpairing of a HC/GM ….is largely because if what it affords the owner to do. So when results aren’t up to par….the owner gets to play the back and forth game. It’s the GM, no it’s the coach, it’s GM, now it’s coach. And every time it’s somebody else’s fault, it’s never those left behind. and that stance frankly has literally nothing to with Fitt. Or Frank. Or even the Panthers. It’s a universal take. The league does what it does. And Tepper is doing it here. That’s not a made up narrative. It’s literally the flip flop Tepper is doing here with his unpaired front offices lol. The unpairing affords him to scapegoat. Just like you do. Where you argue it totally wasn’t Fitt it was all Matt Rhule. And before that it wasn’t Matt Rhule, it totally was Marty Hurney. Rhule just needs a good GM. NFL is a scapegoat survival business when things get tough. They all do it. My complaint here is the owner having that ability with the unpaired front office. Coaches have their own variation. Matt Rhule gets too much heat then it’s really just Joe Brady’s fault. Actual issue was Rhule. Frank getting real heat over his Indy O? Fired his OC. Frank was the primary problem though.
  4. Maybe you could explain what how Frank operates has to do with not liking the scapegoating done in the NFL when things get bad? Or the standard praise and of how well everyone matchups/works together when someone new is brought in?
  5. I think what works against Wilks the most is what he represents. He is an old school defensive HC. If every job was vacant today and everything even, most teams aren’t eyeing that. It naturally limits opportunity. If I owned a team I would prefer offense. And if I wanted old school. I’d go the Frank route. Because he at least is offensive. But my preference would be young and offensive. Now if Belichick or Tomlin happened to be interested? I’d be willing to put aside my preference. But they got crazy resumes.
  6. I mean if you actually knew the inner workings of Bama over the last 20 years? It would have more drama than Game of Thrones. Sports on all levels is crazy. Especially pre NIL. But even the NIL era is going to be wild. To be a fly on the wall basically of any major sport org.
  7. That’s always how it starts. Rhule and Fitt were a terrific match. They loved each other. Same with Rhule and Marty. Marty and Ron round 2. Same with Asshole Gettlemen and Ron. everyone is a perfect fit in the honeymoon start but as soon as the results don’t come. Fitt is the first to be ran over. nature of the beast. See it in front offices and even coaching staffs. NFL teams love a fall guy. Even if no one buys it lol. It’s totally my QB. I mean it’s the OC. Wait it was the GM. The rest of us know what we are doing.
  8. True. But the opposite side of that coin sits out there too. Fields hitting and Bryce not. That’s a catastrophe. Then we are the #1 clown show. Because Fields fell to us and we passed, then we gave them DJ Moore, and 2 first rounders.
  9. Yeah, that’s largely why I like my HC and GM to be paired up. It’s prevents the scapegoating and deflecting game. Fire Ron. But Keep Hurney. Fire Hurney. Keep Rhule Fire Rhule. But keep Fitt As soon as things get disappointing here….well it’s clearly just a GM/talent issue. Fire Fitt. Keep Frank.
  10. Sports has always been a dirty business. All of them.
  11. Maybe. Richardson got Marty to do a lot. Especially before and after the lockout talk window. Ron and Fox got Marty to do a lot too. But the masses don’t come running to defend Marty on all that stuff. at some point, Fitt can’t be shielded from everything
  12. Well, if he was a Matt Rhule dude….he drafted him and immediately gave him the red headed step child treatment and gave him essentially no work/reps in camp.
  13. That’s why it’s a GM question. We spent a 3rd and 4th on Corral. Way more than NE spent on what clearly looked like a better QB. to date, Fitts management of resources seems….questionable. At the least.
  14. I mean the odds are certainly not in his favor. Not saying that.
  15. I mean….Rhule out the door…. Fitt essentially gave up CMC, DJ Moore, 2023 first round pick, a 2024 first round pick, a 2nd, 3rd and 4th…all those assets to move up just a handful of spots in the draft. don’t get me wrong. I like Bryce. But playing the odds, that’s probably not great GMing.
  16. That’s why sports is fun. Because that was likely said about guys from Jake Delhomme to PJ Walker. From Kurt Warner to Warren Moon.
  17. Fitt traded up in the 3rd for a QB….who he couldn’t even get a 7th for a year later. the real story here is probably about our GM
  18. Well, the cut partially answers some questions. He no longer fit/belonged here given what we now are. safe assumption they tried to trade him and couldn’t. A 7th would have been a get lol
  19. Going into last season, I think they "predicted" it would be the 12th hardest. Think it ended up being the 30th hardest. So whatever it ends up being, there isn't much room to get easier. But I think SOS is overblown to an extent. Matchup and styles are more important.
  20. what did our actual SOS end up being last year? Didn't we end up with like the 30th easiest schedule when it was all said and done? I mean, it's all about matchups ultimately. But we had it pretty easy last year. Not sure how much room there is to expect any easier schedule than what we ended up getting last year.
  21. I agree. I think if you reordered things and start with Bryce Young. A lot of the guys we have wouldn't be guys we would ideally want. Icky seems like he belongs on John Fox team. Running at dudes and going play action off it. Sort like where he made his progress at last season. We knew coming in he leaned toward being a run blocker. And that just isn't the scheme you want in the end for Bryce Young. You want to set him back in shotgun and let him pick on a D.
  22. I'd rather have Jalen Reagor on the bottom of the depth chart than some these TEs. Disappointment so far, but super young and only been on teams with really strong WR talent ahead of him.
  23. yep, we could of played trash teams last year that just happened to be good at stopping the run....and we don't win 7 games last year. Matchups matter. We had ideal matchups for a team that had no QB. 10 games against the 10 worst run defenses.
  24. and I hate when writers start talking SOS rankings in the preseason. We don't have the 4th easiest schedule. That will be determined at the end of the year. Now, it probably won't be one of the toughest. All it takes is a couple teams that are all different this year to be better than last year and it's a middle of the road schedule.
  25. and Evero took over what was already a top NFL defense in Denver. It's not like he came in there and worked some magic to take them from weak to great.
