This HC Rhule guy is just downright embarrassing
CRA replied to saX man's topic in Carolina Panthers

If forced to pick? Keep Burns Reddick will IMO require a big and lengthy contract. So it will tie him to our next HC pending Rhule is gone after next year. And he isn’t a universal fits everything defensive player. And I don’t want to see what Matt Rhule would pay Reddick given what we saw with Robby. if we had fired Rhule and I knew our next coach? The answer might be different.

Beason missed the prior year to the draft with a torn achilles Thomas Davis had managed 9 games out of the 3 seasons leading up to the draft. A reasonable person would think TD was done. LB was a need.
-
Just a billionaire owner’s ego. Rhule is like 3 mistakes in one for Tepper. Unqualified and bad hire, who he then drastically overpaid and gave too big of a contract to (with potentially no offset clause).
-
Not sure Flores would mesh with that ownership/front office. but yeah, that would be one way to try to keep Watson
-
I don’t think Matt Rhule could handle someone actually good on his staff. It would make it glaring to players how incompetent he is. so yeah, this guy is a leading candidate. Plus it would be basically an over promotion. Which is what it will take to get someone to come here.

He did reference Briles though and he did reference him being unjustly fired. Now you can debate if he meant that is what the mad fans thought or he thought.
-
Well, I’m not one to defend Rhule…. but my understanding was that he was describing the perspective of the fanbase that hated him early on at Baylor. They thought the prior coach was fired unjustly. They were mad Baylor had been a top tier program and now sucked. That’s the way I took that at least. But Matt Rhule can’t talk. So I get it is being taken the other way too.

Again, we have seen Sam with better OL play. Sam has an assortment of massive issues that have nothing to do with OL protection.
-
I can’t name one. at least other bad teams have some hope they can hang their hat on. New coaches coming in. And basically every bad team minus the Giants finished on the upswing.
-
It’s clear Matt Rhule is clueless on the OL and QB spots. Slater, his own rookies who refused to play, Teddy, Sam, PJ. and then on top of that, Matt Rhule inspires no confidence in his ability to do anything.

We got to stop with this Sam stuff. Sam is a happy foot turnover machine that literally can’t read a field and operate an offense. He is historically worse with time. Sam can check down and throw to his first read. You aren’t going to coach him into being a QB this late in his career. He just simply isn’t good.
-
Is it honesty? Just seems like standard Rhule bullshit. He drafted a DB that high instead lol. And Herbert isn’t really that much more mobile of it all than his boys Sam/PJ. What does that even mean.
-
Too early on that. He was in a horrible spot. Like Trevor. but you watch late in the year like the stretch that starter around the Pitt game? Fields was starting to really show some things. generally rookies who shine are in good spots to shine. Hebert. Cam. Luck. All the recent wow guys as rookies had the talent around them to look good. Trevor and Fields were in horrible spots. If Fields and Trevor were drafted by different teams. They likely look different.

I would assume the Person article was largely correct. Generally when a legit reporter has 20 sources they nail the general gist of it. Get some little stuff wrong or partial stuff. But his story had Tepper’s feelings. then the people who he wrote it about will think disproving one thing that might not of been 100% correct somehow makes the overall narrative painted false. Which it doesn’t. See it it sports, politics, big business, etc. But I think Person largely nailed it

Not for regular folks. On the Tepper scale?

Matt Rhule made Sam Darnold the man. He assembled that OL. He spent his top 10 pick on a DB. He is the dude that punted from the opponents 30, calls timeouts and lets the boos make the playcall…. fix the OL and we still have Matt Rhule. If your architect is unqualified….getting quality materials still won’t matter in the long run.
-
I was done with Rhule this past offseason while we were in camp. His bullshit there just didn’t fly. And it even seemed like he knew it. He looked really bad then.
-
That why I said relative to his other homes and where he spends his time…he is a billionaire. he spent like 5mill on that and then went on to spend 70 mill for his primary residence in FL.
-
It’s a safe place to park some of his money with an added ego perk. Just some diversification for his wealth. That’s how I view his professional sports adventures. and he has no ties to the Carolinas. He isn’t from here. Has no history here. And relative to his other homes and where he stays….basically rents an apartment here for when he visits
-
Truth. but maybe it isn’t even about that. Can Rhule even find 3 guys with a real NFL resume for the job to say yes? Maybe Tepper is just going to let the rest of the league tell him what Rhule is. If I was a good OC….I’m not taking the job unless it’s the last job. Because it’s a bad job under Rhule.
-
Yep. And you saw one of the most important things happen IMO….you saw his Lions team actually improve as the season went on. Yeah, they stunk overall but from week 1 to 17 they steadily trended up. two seasons in a row Rhule has gotten worse as the season has gone on. That should get you fired. Same thing happens in game. Worse. Matt Rhule isn’t an NFL coach.
-
3-0 > 0-3 or 2-1. But Sam was still Sam. And it was talked about by many even when we were 3-0 and the breaks we caught to be that. Joe Brady had overachieved frankly every season but the one that he was paired with Sam Darnold. You know the imploding Sam Darnold who our DC and Rhule picked out. you can put Rhule on Tepper. Sam is on Rhule. There is literally no evidence that Tepper forced Sam freaking Darnold on Rhule. That’s just being a make things up Rhule apologist. And all the inside rumors were Tepper wanted Fields even when Rhule got Sam.
-
Biggest downside to OP, is you give Rhule another year to dictate contracts and player resources….that will impact the future. Because they will be made to fit his vision.
