  1. From day 1, I have maintained the Panthers org has screwed Bryce Young and set him up for failure. People got mad that I was insulting Frank Reich and that super team. Some folks in this very thread were lecturing me very hard about how wrong I was going into that Frank season. and I have said the same thing about attempt #2 from day 1. The org is setting Bryce Young for failure. And just like the Frank Reich era, people get mad about me saying he doesn't fit what Canales does and wants from his QB. So....yeah, I disagree with your framing there. I have pinned most of the blame on Carolina. Not Bryce Young.
  2. no no no. Bryce Young is apparently Jake Delhomme. Or maybe Brett Favre. Russell Wilson I guess? I don't know, panthers55 will make sure we get it right.
  3. I mean, we can talk about typical. You are randomly making a stand that Bryce freaking Young....is a deep chunk pass gunslinger? I mean THAT is comedy. Go sell that somewhere that isn't the huddle and tell me how it goes. We have already done deep factual dives on Canales and his tree. We have done it on Bryce. None of this talk is new. Go search the huddle. And I for one am not deep diving into things that have already been done because you want to pretend it all hasn't been.
  4. Almost as funny as Carolina Panther homers before a season kicks off My preseason calls under Tepper have played out at a high percentage. It's so easy. When things smell odd....they 99% of the time are just that. Just go with that.
  5. this is where the Bryce defense goes off the rails for me. We all know Bryce isn't a deep ball chunk play QB. He doesn't have those physical tools and he doesn't play the game w/ that mindset. It simply is not what he is. Then you got folks going essentially going, well actually Shaq was a very efficient 3 pt shooter this season. He shot 50% from behind the arc and Steph Curry was only at 48%. So yeah, Shaq is a very effective 3 pt shooter. Don't say he isn't a 3 point shooter. Meanwhile, Shaq went 1 of 2 on the season and Steph shot 9343924 3s. Russell Wilson is a deep ball chunk QB. Baker is. Geno was his comeback season (best in the league that year I think is the correct call). That's the Canales pass tree. EVERY QB throws deep at some point. Arguing you can find a good grade when they went deep one week is just that. No one can argue Bryce plays the game like a young Wilson throwing f you hail marys downfield. Jake Delhomme fits Canales more than any Carolina Panther QB. Teddy Bridgewater can grade out efficiently on his deep passes. That doesn't make him a deep ball chunk QB. 2 totally different convos. It would be better for everyone IMO if our org accepted what the unicorn was and built a team around that given they invested so much in him.....which is the criticism I started day 1 when they put him in Frank Reich's offense. He didn't fit that. He doesn't fit the Canales tree either. NFL is about fit more than anything and it's what Carolina gets most wrong. We essentially run offenses we don't have the QB talent for and you can say the same w/ the 3-4 D. That's the Bryce era.
  6. Correct. He was the passing game coordinator for a team in Seattle that lived off the deep chunk pass. and them he was Geno whisperer when Geno had his breakout/comeback….that was built of Geno being the best deep ball passer that year. as the Tampa OC - he brought what he leaned and did in Seattle. Deep chunk football off the run. Deep dives were done into his tree and everything Canales has been around and done In football when we hired him. It’s Groundhogs Day. Young isn’t the pairing for Canales’ O. Square peg, round hole.
  7. my reading of the tea leaves is they offered him a PS squad spot after AT talked his way out of here and Hunter was like nah….this thing smells dysfunctional so let me “talk” to the wife and agent despite making it known I was only willing to play in Carolina as far as the “dips” go Canales used to support his decision? I think he is just selling bologna. We got reporters covering every moment of action on the field. It never existed in camp. So he is trying to spin the dip as not making enough plays in preseason while getting hosptial balls from a dude not even good enough to play preseason garbage time.
  8. Because Canales runs a chunk ball O scheme. It’s what he did in Tampa. What he did in Seattle. And he largely is just going to be that. he acquires talent that fits that and Bryce Young will never fit that
  9. I would think he would be out. I don't think you can just roll into Florida week 1 with that heat and play a football game......not being ramped up and conditioned.
  10. worst part of the show is Stephen A. They should just get a moderator to play the role as such (not Molly) to keep some former athletes on task as they debate set topics. That's ultimately why the podcast stuff works. The Stephen A, Skip component...which is the worst part.
  11. I like Sellers. Same reasons I like Cam. My son has meet him as well over there and liked his whole energy. Seems like a good dude, so why not pull for him. but yeah, he is a no good dirty Gamecock at the end of the day and hope he loses every game as well. I can be both people. It's the principle of the matter.
  12. I mean, I think that actually is ....the perfect post. I don't disagree. That about sums it up on so many levels. but best in the nation? He had 6 sacks last year. Not sure he is the consensus best in that conference or state yet. Lot have the Texas kid and Clemson kid ahead of him as of today. Depends who you listen to. But I mean, his potential is through the roof.
  13. I am referencing the fact Stewart is literally the only returning starter on your defensive front 7. So yeah, the defense taking a step back is something the Gamecocks would be looking at this year as realistic. oh, and best in the nation? Not sure he is best in your conference or even your state. I mean, he is talented. But maybe you need to bump them breaks on that D.
  14. worry about his setup this year. That Gamecock D could put too much on his shoulders. Gamecocks might be asking a dude still developing as a passer to do way too much
  15. I was optimistic at first. I celebrated at least attempting something radically different. Once press and cameras got into camp after COVID going into his 2nd season......the red flags were going off like crazy. And the Panthers have had preseason red flags ever since.
  16. you saw what the Manning family did when Eli was going to go somewhere they didn't like? Arch ain't coming to save us. we will sign the Gamecocks 5th string QB instead
  17. I sort of hate to see him jump onto the painfully bad and sinking First Take show. People basically hate watch these show for bad takes at this point.
  18. Morgan was part of the Bryce Young brain trust. and Bryce Young was setup on a tee to be traded out of here after 2 games into the season last year. Dan Morgan especially shouldn't get extended time. I can handle Canales getting a QB that matches what he does.
  19. we cut Cam. He was pretty pumped on his return (for a quick second)
  20. He was running an out and setting it up how he does it. That's literally his game. It's not debatable Renfrow was running an out. The QB threw a slant. Now, if you want to argue the hospital ball throwing, really bad QB who wouldn't land on any PS in the NFL isn't at fault? and the savvy Renfrow was out there running the wrong routes? I mean, you can argue that. Seems to me the most likely answer is instead of Renfrow just fooling the DB, he also duped the really bad QB. It's not mental gymnastics to say the painfully bad organization is on a record run of bad decisions.....is once again, making bad decisions. That's just taking the layup approach. Renfrow was pretty vocal about what he was doing with the comeback attempt. It was a Carolina specific venture he was taking on because of the location. He isn't looking to bounce around the NFL and play outside of Carolina. Renfrow clear as day is a better player than dudes they kept. If it was just about WR talent. But as I have repeatedly said after thinking about it for a day....Renfrow simply has no home in Dave Canales' offensive scheme. He is a niche player. And Dave isn't going to play that style of football. Hunter's quirky get open quick niche isn't part of Dave's O. Run, run, chunk play downfield is Dave's O. His entire tree is clear of how to play offense. Hunter Renfrow can cook Jaycee Horn all week on those short routes......Dave isn't calling an O that features what Hunter does.
  21. I don't buy that. They buried Bryce Young for dead 2 games into the season. That always read like an agreed upon deal w/ they hired the chunk ball downfield OC. Carolina just screwed it up.....they left the door cracked and a literal miracle occurred for Bryce that no one saw coming. Wasn't great but it fugged up the plan. That's why I equate it to the second worst botching under Tepper. The first was the botched in season tank job that blew up in Tepper's face.

no worries, I have spent years studying David Tepper at this point. He is already ahead of his "problem". Watch for Tepper to add the coach and bring in a former Panther WR to help mold these young kids up and teach them. Dwyane Jarrett should be rolling up any moment to teach them the subtle art of WR.
  23. Dan gonna be on cracked thin ice in season. People still somehow erase he was Fitterer's right hand man. Fitterer was making decisions off of info coming up to him. Dan painted as the random mythical creature that some how disagreed w/ everything being done. Canales had zero resume. You can't keep giving a coach time when there is no reason to. If things go bad this year.....you can't pretend like you just hired Dan next year. The window to move on from Bryce was last year. He botched it. Now, Bryce he is tied to Bryce.
  24. what you think runs counter to what we know of David Tepper though. That's all I am saying. 32 of these jobs in the world. There is always someone willing to take it. It just won't be who you want.
  25. I think Renfrow just wanted to be in and around football again. And being home was THE selling point to comeback. Carolina was THE pick. Comeback only went about because a team existed in the Carolinas. I don't think he had an illusion of being a focal part of the O. And I think he will decline any interest elsewhere to play.... I'll bet nickel he ends up coaching football for the far and away best football team in Carolinas in the not too distant future.
