According to Legette, Panthers will draft Legette at #33

yeah, the combine changed things for him IMO. He went from bottom of 2/top of 3.....to bottom of 1/top of 2. -

clearly people not prioritizing medicals on these QBs. I mean, there was no evidence those dudes had it and yet no one took a look to confirm it. All it takes is a quick look. -
Trade down by Fitterer's assistant GM??

what this team needs....is Will Shipley. Some orange blood running through our veins. We've been trying to build this ship off Gamecocks for a long time. -

great QBs don't make good mentors. Tom Brady has gone in great detail about how he essentially has derailed backup QBs from developing. -

I don't like the sprinkle everywhere approach. One of the most impactful drafts we had in terms of immediate impact was a double dip draft at DT. We had a DT issue. We focused on fixing that one problem. It got fixed. I'm going to keep doing WR double dip gymnastics until they fail to do that. I think once you hit round 4.....certain positions are better. You probably are not going to solve anything but project depth at some spots there. A 4th or 5th round C pick has super low odds of working out. I think RB is a place you can get legit committee help right away. -
in fairness, Morgan and Canales are also essentially forced to take that stance.....given the Panthers just drafted Young and gave up the farm for him. I mean, I'm not a Young believer. Or at least not in terms of ever reaching what his draft status says he should be. But if I got the gig of HC, I know I'd be forced to take the stance going into this year that he is the answer.

I don't think 89 backed off anything in his evaluation. This happens to be a deep and good WR draft class. 89 essentially likely has Leggette going higher than Metcalf did. Metcalf went 64th in his draft. -

That's not all Leggette. That pass O was a joke until Rattler came on late his first year. Which is about when Leggette started to develop. and if we are honest, the U of SC pass game was wildly inconsistent with Rattler because of the OL and playcalling. The fact Leggette had a dominant season out of U of SC is pretty amazing given how he plays and the hurdles. It's not like he is out there catching some bullshit routes all game. -

preseason looks always show some basic and core building blocks to an offense. Especially a new one you are installing. You can't really make up fake offense given you are trying to teach everyone the new one. -

my ideal draft is Ladd, Leggette with the WR double dip in rounds 2....then picking up Shipley, Bell and Stiggers late. I'd be okay w/ the Shipley overdraft. Ideally round 4 though. -

yeah, worst case scenario is teams know Carolina likes a kid....that their insiders already knew the Panthers liked. and if you wanted to get creative. If I wanted him at 39 and not 33.....I could draft Ladd at 33 and then folks might leave him there at 39. Because I think if you draft him at either spot you are over drafting a kid you are sold on. but, I want the WR double dip which ensures the Panthers don't do such. I got the odds super low they actually do what I want. -

I don't think he is dumb. I think he is trying to make it known he WANTS to play for a team that likely most people would prefer not to get selected too. That's just a reality. And you want dudes that are all in and excited. I mean, it might not work out in his favor but I would say that easily could be a calculated decision. So all things being equal between him and another player.....you want the dude excited and that wants to be a Panther? Or the dude who is like awe, poo.....the Panthers drafted me. Because you know those players exist. I mean, he wants to play for his local team that played in his backyard growing up. That's a lot of players. I don't think teams are going to ding a talented kid that's then going to have a chip on his shoulder if he doesn't go there. You here about that chip a lot too. -

yeah, and I think he clearly has had some hardships. Losing both his parents. His support system simply might be more Carolina based and important to him and less mobile. I couldsee him getting cherry picked to some random city across the country maybe being harder for him and him wanting to stay close to what he knows. I mean, I think it is clear he wants to play for us. Which to me, is a positive. I think he is playing that card. I personally really like Leggette. I've been firm on that for some time. I just don't like him at the top of round 2. -

really looking forward to preseason, I hope Canales is going to be bringing a fresh offensive take to Carolina that doesn't look like Tampa on repeat. I think we need to be doing some different things given our QB and WR setup. -

He is from Mullins, SC and stayed in SC to play his college ball. Sounds like he wants to STAY in Carolina. Which I could see Leggette really wanting to be here. Which he could be playing that angle hard from his side too as a play to get drafted by the team he wants. The despite you sucking so hard, you are my dream team card. -

well, some of that is on us though, not the WR. You want a WR to come in and contribute.......team has to also put in them in position for early success with their scheme and QB play. -

you actually hear athletes say that a lot, they know team X has said they will snag them if there at X spot.....but generally they spill those beans after the draft. Obviously, better players can fall and it sometimes doesn't go down as they were told though. But it seems pretty common for teams to let guys know they are on their list and target area. -

Dan Morgan when he looks at you claiming they are going to go BPA no matter what or position -

Think they are clearly factoring in Canales' TE usage last year in their evaluation. The TEs in Tampa caught less balls and had less yardage than the Panthers TEs last year. And the TEs last year sucked here. It's really hard to guess what the plan for this O will be next year. All we have really heard is the coach saying we want to run the ball (despite them being bad at that in Tampa last year). -
the funniest thing about that clip....is the wheel route would have still been wide open. No one listened to Clay.

Best Guess Mock & Wants (What You Think We Do vs. Who You Want)
CRA replied to Bear Hands's topic in Carolina Panthers
What I think we do….is draft a defensive player at 33 and then over draft Leggette at 39. I also think we neglect to draft a pass catching RB. what I want is this to primarily be an offensive skill draft. Double dip BPA at WR (Mitchell and Ladd) with the first two picks and then grab a TE and pass catching RB. I like Bell late at TE. I also like that CFL DB late that didn’t play college ball -
We all remember the “I’m back!!” moment from Cam Newton. You don’t draft Clemson DBs. Sincerely, A Clemson fan. The whole D lives and dies with the front. That’s been the case for a decade plus.

Take even a Curtis Samuel. Nothing on the outside vs a good slot option. Same can be said for corners. Take Captain. One of the better slot corners. Asking to play on the outside he then becomes a liability. you got to draft talent and then use it right
