it's the NFL. We all want ideal OLs. Special players still look special behind bad OLs though.

Bryce Young doesn't have a superprocessor, he is literally costing us games
CRA replied to TN05's topic in Carolina Panthers
He doesn't even need a monster game. He just needs some special moments within a game to check the box and make people feel good. and Cam delivered those near weekly. I mean, even in a game Cam played like trash....he could give you a moment and you would be like.....well, that's why I drafted him. No one can do that. That's hope. You can attach to that. and while Bryce has some good plays. Hell, every QB that plays more than a handful will have some good plays. PJ Walker can have some good plays. I still don't think he has checked the box where you go, yeah, drafting him #1 makes sense yet. But again, he has no one to really pair up w/ to make the play. And the coaches don't seem capable or even trying to scheme up anything. I mean, they do attempt their one or two schemed up plays for Shenault a game when healthy but even those are relatively predictable we have a MASSIVE talent issue around Bryce. Blame whoever. Someone is to blame. And you got to start changing whose involved in that. I'd start with Fitt. He seems to be the biggest red flag. Been at least part of too many horrific decisions. If it ain't Fitt, Tepper knows who it is, then just move on from Frank if you let him hand pick what went down. Because this is a joke around Young. And folks should of seen this all coming. I can't stand Tepper, but even if he hand picked the QB....he has a right to be mad if the other 2 did the rest. and you have to blame Frank for being just a flat out bad coach. Even if he didn't want any of this talent. He is doing a poor job working with what he has. -
Evidence of Tepper meddling in football operations?

and if there was an Andrew Luck at the top of this draft, I don't think the Bears would have traded it to begin with. Top of this draft was more comparable to the guys outside of Lawerence the year they got Fields. -

I think people just want 1 really good game. And that's not really going to be measured on a stat sheet. Or just one game with some really special moments. To actually believe he is worth the pick/investment at this level. I don't think Bryce has delivered that moment yet. Stroud and Richardson both checked that box for their teams. But I concede this team has zero people that can make a play for him. Players or coaches don't seem to be able to set it up. I mean, the best chance we have for a big play come from a meh RB (Hubbard) or a bad WR (Shenault). I thought Chark at least was going to bring a niche element to the team but really can't even get open on his own either. -

He is largely playing the position the same way each week. Outcomes sometimes are going to be better or worse. It's football. So you get a week 8s and week 9s. I mean, there is an issue w/ Bryce. Who knows if that Frank or Bryce. But the biggest issue in terms of our football success right now is Frank Reich and Scott. Not Bryce. I've largely not given Bryce much heat this year. -

Bryce really has been the same dude overall on the year. A bad game last week but I haven't really seen much change with him week to week. I think he plays the game too safe. Which is causing him issues because the adjustment defenses have clearly made. Well, they essentially have played the same way vs him since week 1. Now maybe the coaches are making him play that way. Who knows. I wish they would just go under C run the ball. And build a play action game. Who cares what the ideal vision is. It ain't going to work this year. -

Trevor has always been awkward looking. Dates back to Clemson. But that's visual. We used to laugh at little at him, especially early on. For his size and build, he has great athleticism though. Trevor also gambles a lot. And when he had horrific coaching and zero skill talent....he gambled a lot as a rookie. Which frankly I wish Bryce would do. Bryce doesn't even know what he can or can't do frankly....because he plays sheepish with the ball in the pass game. We aren't winning. This staff needs to work on growth. I don't care if the WRs suck. Make them have to make a play. Would anyone be mad if he got picked on a 50/50 vertical ball that Chark got outplayed on?? I would have been fine w/ 4 of those this past Sunday. Only time this team really goes vertical is a busted play pops. They ain't trying. -

I'm just acknowledging this wasn't an Andrew Luck type scenario. Did most probably have him #1? Probably because he was likely viewed as the safest w/ an impressive resume. But everyone? Just don't like that argument. and Tepper said he would be involved w/ a face of the franchise type pick. But that frankly is every owner. Every owner is going to be involved in that pick way more so than anything else. I got no issue w/ them picking Bryce. I got a massive issue w/ the GM/HC/owners building a team around him that doesn't fit what he does. I don't love Bryce. I wanted Stroud. But I was fine if they took a shot on anyone. But you then got to put him in position to succeed. They haven't. And it was clear of that early on w/ the talent they put around him. It never fit. And we are seeing the consequences. And on top of that, they are making no adjustments to help him. -

Trevor made a massive jump after his rookie season because he got a legit HC and playcaller and put actual talent around him. Trevor’s skill talent was worse than Bryce’s. Zero speed on the field with Urban running the show. It wasn’t just Trevor getting better. It was everything around him got better. so for Bryce to make a massive jump, I think he needs a similar change around him. But that still won’t change the fact Trevor was built in a lab and Bryce can’t make all the throws Trevor can. -

Reality is there is virtually no chance all 32 teams in the NFL had Young the #1 QB. Those are very rare seasons in reality where everyone would agree. And that’s generally a lab built QB like a Luck, Lawrence, etc and I still would be wary of claiming a 32 team consensus. Bryce is built like a middle schooler, there is no doubt some didn’t have going to have him as the # 1 on physical tools alone vs the other guys. We greatly debated it internally by reports. -
Probably so…but the other side gets paid too. And given the Panthers literally don’t threaten the field vertically….NFL defenses are playing our small ball. And we are content asking them to try to stop it. And we play small ball with non-small weapons. End of the day, we are just going to lose that battle overall. Doesn’t really matter the QB. It’s definitely not going to end well for a rookie. Any rookie.

The coach of the Panthers acknowledging they have weekly Monday meetings that often are unpleasant about the team. Tepper himself saying he would be involved in certain aspects when he bought the team -
Hey, if there is a time for your team not to look how they normally do…it’s TNF. No doubt. like I said, some teams just gift those games. Maybe we get that luck.
-
Bears also have clear cut matchup edge that works in their favor. Good rush O vs our bad rush D. And you beat the Bears in the air not the ground. And our pass game is a dumpster fire. TNF is weird though. I don’t expect a really close game. One team will just be really bad and one team has an easy night. And you can’t really predict it.

Reich doesn’t think there is any chance Burns plays Thursday
CRA replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I mean, it might not be the best matchup to highlight your point. I mean this would be the type matchup our D should be able to handle not having him if you had to pick a game. Bears are a top 5 rushing O We are one of the top 5 worst defenses against the run. gameplan on a short week for Chicago should be simple. Run, run, run. -
The best the Bears have looked all season was the last game they played on Thursday night. it's in Chicago. DJ Moore, Foreman revenge game. Storyline of the Bears getting our #1 overall pick. I just think this game has us losing written all over it.

Sure, I do. I watch it every Sunday. It will be on display Thursday Night on Amazon if you would like to learn more about it. Like I said, I look forward to your post in the future where you concede you were wrong.....but while also totally arguing you never were. and I'm out for real this time. No more pulling a Mr. Scot from me.
-
I mean, I'm not the dude denying we are running Frank's Reich core O. I have no idea what Panther front office homeristic reason caused to attempt to beat this drum last week..... I'll enjoy reading your thread in the coming weeks where you lecture on the flaws of the Frank Reich O that we have been running all season.....and then you not having the time to address all your Frank Reich flat earthing that was going on leading up to it lol.
-
You don't read posts. It's baby stepping. You have to be able to concede basic facts exist to bother wasting time on an in depth convo. Which you couldn't even concede a simple fact such as McVay doesn't run his scheme so heavily from the gun as Frank does. and Frank's overreliance on running everything from the gun is relevant to critiquing his scheme. Because the next baby step is to dissect his run game.....and the problems his run game has consistently gotten into at every stop. Often at the end of his tenure.
-
I tried to tell people they need to start at the end of Frank's time in SD and Indy. It's totally Frank 101. From the jump it's a conspiracy theory with these folks. Well, they actually just started last week with this oddball denial that we somehow aren't running Frank's base O. All it took was someone posting a Panthers.com article and suddenly it can't be Frank's O lol. a real conspiracy is somehow thinking Thomas Brown invented his own offense that stubborn old Frank Reich was going to call the plays for and attach his name to.
-
literally the 8th reply in your thread (the most pied post).....calls that fact out. lol. I'm out. Have a day.
-
the fact Brown came from a system with the blocking scheme Frank Reich would be using.....was probably a key reason the newb/green OC got the job. I mean, there is a reason Frank hired Brown.
-
You basically made a thread that calls out all your lecturing logic over the past several weeks boss and don't seem to be able to grasp that you did that. I guess I'll tune in next week to your new thread, where you finally conclude Frank Reich's O not Thomas Brown's uniquely built from the ground up O stinks.
