  1. Not the best example since that speech didn't do much good.
  2. I will say, I do like John Mateer a lot. But with his surgery and missing so much time I don't know what his draft stock might end up looking like or if he will even enter the draft at all. But he's about the only QB I'd consider with a top-10 pick next year.
  3. And again, which current QB prospects really fit that criteria? I'd love for there to be a QB worth taking, but I'm just not seeing it right now.
  4. Are the two things mutually exclusive? Bryce has been bad. Stroud hasn't been much better since his rookie year. Richardson is a bust. The answer to the QB question in 2023, it turns out, was: none of the above.
  5. True but that's not saying much. I haven't seen anyone who jumps off the screen at QB. Mendoza has his moments but rarely has to beyond his first read. Sellers is a physical freak, but hasn't played like it. Nussmeier looks good against college defenses but doesn't exactly tick all the physical boxes himself. A taller Bryce Young? Dante Moore looks like a good college QB surrounded by a lot of talent who will be overwhelmed in the pros. Drew Allar... very similar to Sellers. Has the physical tools but doesn't always play like it. Carson Beck is erratic as hell, even if he also has many of the traits you look for. If I HAD to use a 1st round pick on one of those guys it's going to be Sellers just based off physical traits but he's not remotely ready to start as a rookie and I'm fairly convinced he's going to end up returning to school, though not necessarily South Carolina.
  6. Do you think Vrabel or Harbaugh would be doing significantly better than Canales if Bryce was still the QB?
  7. Maybe, but we're still left with the same choices regardless of who is making them.
  8. Well obviously we'd need to draft our guy long-term, but this upcoming QB class isn't looking very good so it's likely going to be at least 2027 before we draft a QB early again. It's either try to find a decent bridge QB or stick it out with Bryce. I don't know of any other options.
  9. Starting Zavala over Christensen was always a head-scratcher to me. Brady should be the first guy off the bench at every position.
  10. One guy I wouldn't mind us taking a flyer on for a late round pick is Aidan O'Connell from the Raiders. I got to watch him play a lot his rookie year since my dad is a Raiders fan and I think he's got starter potential. If nothing else he can be a solid backup/bridge QB until we draft a QB in a couple years.
  11. I actually do like Vrabel as a coach, but no coach can overcome a severe limitation at QB. In some ways I am starting to wonder if we will ever really know what we have with Canales as long as he is tied to Bryce at QB.
  12. We need to stop "rolling the dice," period. Go find a decent veteran QB who can be serviceable for a year or two, improve the team in other areas and wait until the right guy is available in the draft and then make our move. It's this kind of desperation to find "the guy" at QB that has hurt as more than anything in the Tepper era. It's become a vicious cycle and we won't solve anything until we break that cycle.
  13. This strikes me as a really stupid comment. Especially when they acknowledge that Canales doesn't have the QB to run his scheme. You can't say on one hand that the QB is the problem, then turn around and say "well, if only we had their coach and they had ours." If Vrabel was our coach with Bryce as the QB he'd be running into the same limitations that Canales is. Saying the results would have been reversed is saying that Vrabel would somehow magically be able to avoid having the same limitations. Now, if we also had Drake Maye at QB? Different story. But that's not what they're saying.
  14. There's no QB worth a 1st round pick in this class. Too many question marks and guys who need too much development.
  15. What the hell happened to our special teams today? Jesus. Our yardage is close with theirs but the short fields have absolutely killed us.
  16. The NFL is going to eat Garrett Nussmeier alive.
  17. He might actually be the worst.
  18. He made it last year despite us not winning. He should definitely make it this year.
