  1. Sam has been a solid game manager especially when the running game is rolling. People claiming he is making constant “elite throws” are setting themselves up for disappointment while being a little dishonest. People are throwing around that “elite” word when referring to some basic NFL level passes. One was already claiming he is much better than peak Alex Smith with Andy Reid. I’m just checking some of these posts and having a more realistic approach.
  2. I don’t think anyone hates Darnold or wants him to fail. Some people like myself don’t want him as our main option because we have already fallen for that trick once. Cheap backup great, and I hope he lights it up. Odds are against him for a full turn around and we better plan accordingly.
  3. He made 15 completions last game and 14 the game before. I saw several dump offs to the check down. Let’s not pretend like he is making Josh Allen throws on a consistent level every game. Look on ESPN and other sports news sources. They all are talking about our running game because that’s our main focus.
  4. A power running offense is a nice way to get a rookie comfortable on this level. The hope is they will develop into something special. Imagine AR mixed in with our running offense for example. It’s not a long term plan for him, but a good way to a young rookie on the field early. It’s kind of how the Niners are playing Purdy.
  5. Corral should be in the mix, but I wouldn’t let a 3rd round rookie from a previous coach that has been on IR have much weight on any QB decision. He is a nice luxury to have and if he can develop then it’s a great bonus.
  6. This is where it gets hard to take you seriously. So far Sam has been a decent game manager with a strong rushing game. Smith was a much better game manager than Darnold has been so far. You cherry pick one throw and act like that somehow proves he is a better QB. I’m sure Jamarcus Russell made an elite throw or two, but you have to look at the entire body of work….
  7. Mac looked decent with an actual OC and Fields has flashed with very little around him. The arrow is trending up for Fields, but he still a working progress.
  8. A first round QB is going to be treated like the future at the position. Of course the vet starts at the depth chart, but when the rookie is ready he will get his shot unless Darnold becomes Brady in one offseason. Smith wasn’t playing bad when Mahomes was worked into the lineup. It takes some elite play to prevent a first round pick from getting his chance.
  9. The REAL question is, Is Darnold developing McAdoo????
  10. Depends on how he wins us the game. The Chiefs moved on from Smith to Mahomes because they knew they needed more than a game manager to win it all and be a constant threat. Hell they even traded up for Mahomes (who was pretty raw and had a huge ceiling) 2020 Panthers pick up Sam's 5th year and pass on Jones and Fields 2022 Panthers going to extend Sam and pass on another QB again??? Let's not keep repeating our mistakes.... Our very recent mistakes.
  11. Depends on what kind of money Sam is wanting, who we draft, and who our OC is. If Sam wants too much money it's no deal. His contract should reflect that of a backup QB. If we draft a QB in the first and are running this power running offense, there is no reason not to go ahead and let the rookie go out there hand the ball off and attempt some passes each quarter.
  12. Signing Sam to a cheap backup QB contract while drafting a QB in the draft to be our future is perfectly acceptable. Signing Sam for more money and rolling with him and Corral next year is one hell of a gamble at the most important positions in sports. It's also one gamble that has already burned us pretty badly in very recent history....
  13. Teddy is making 6.5 (average annual salary) as a backup, Keenum is making 6 (3 year 18 million), Taylor and Rudolph are just over 5. So you basically want to pay him higher end backup money. I am ok with that if he is the vet QB we are wanting to roll with. I'm not sure he takes that contract if he "takes us to the playoffs." That also doesn't stop us from drafting a QB to compete with Corral for our future.
  14. You never answered @mav1234on these "drops" from last game??
  15. What kind of contract are you willing to give Darnold based on his play this year?
  16. Sam is a back up, possibly bridge game manager on certain teams/offenses. PJ probably shouldn't be in the league except as a 3rd/emergency QB. That's just my opinion on the matter.
  17. Fans overrate. It's what we do. It's why half of this board wants Darnold running the offense next year and the other half wants him out of the league. The correct answer is usually some where in the middle.
  18. As long as he can get a good OC and let him handle the offense I'm ok with it.
  19. Wilks would more than likely want to pick his next QB. He wanted to trade up for Allen in Arizona. I could see him wanting another big armed raw talent like AR or Levis this year.
  20. It’s a direct reflection of the Panther’s current staff not knowing how to properly use the talent we already have. That makes it very Panther related IMO.
  21. I agree. It really depends on which HC or OC we end up with. The power running game behind our OL would be a rookie/raw QBs best friend. Hell it's making Darnold look serviceable. I think Lance would have been ok if he could just stay healthy. Shanahan runs a run first offense and loves to lean on his defense allowing his QBs to primarily make the "safe" throws. With the right OC/HC Richardson in the first and Kincaid with one of our 2nds could be a nice start. The first/main thing we need to do is extend Bozeman. Rookie QB or not he has shown to be crucial to our offense.
  22. A little play action does wonders when you are averaging 15 and 10 yards a carry.
  23. Yeah it makes sense for these mid-tier guys to stay and collect NIL money as long as they can. Ward should also stay this year. He has some tools that could move him up the draft board if he has a solid year next year. On a side note if Wilks is our guy (and he is looking like he might be) look out for Richardson or Levis. Remember Wilks wanted the Cards to trade up for Allen and not doing so was one of his biggest complaints. I’m assuming he likes the big arm, raw talent guys based on that. Just a thought…
  24. It was a FA signing on Week 15. What exactly were you expecting? -Never mind, forgot this was a troll account…
