  1. He would fall in line with drafting one next year since his contract is over this year. It’s an easy way to give Rhule a cheap vet, draft a LT at 6 and see what they can do. If Baker struggles then we let him walk, fire Rhule and let the new guy draft his QB to play behind our new and improved OL. The other options are drafting one (which I know you don’t like) or Jimmy G. Our staff isn’t going to go with Sam and no one else this year.
  2. Landry is still a FA right now if I’m not mistaken. He also had a WR in Beckham who is now on his third team and wasn’t being used correctly by his OC. Yeah Landry went to the Pro Bowl, and you don’t think that had anything to do with Baker consistently getting the ball into his hands? Even Teddy got Anderson looking good with 1000 receiving yards, then Darnold comes in and he sucks again. He has s good RB in Chubb meanwhile Sam has worked with Leveon Bell and CMC (I know he was hurt part of the season as was Chubb last year). Baker was still sacked 43 times last year (more than Sam) so the OL isn’t as good as advertised. So he had a good OG? Sam had a good RT? Doesn’t mean poo if the rest of the OL isn’t doing their job. The Browns aren’t some All Star team like people think. Baker like him or not would be considered a decent upgrade to Sam. I get he is an ass and threw way too many INTs his second year. Last year he probably should have sat out when he got hurt, but still he is an upgrade by a decent margin.
  3. One is very short sighted like trading away future picks for picks/players now ruining the future salary cap to try to get immediate help. If you are trying to build a winning team the right way you won’t have to worry about trying to save your job IMO. That’s just how I viewed it.
  4. I think people were just more excited because he was a 2nd round rookie who was starting/playing well and expected another leap the following year. The safety position is one that could be a good thing if you aren't noticing them (especially in coverage).
  5. I'm not die hard Baker and really only want him if he comes cheap. He is just a much better QB than Darnold which isn't saying much. I'd prefer a trade down and draft one honestly. Baker makes sense if the Browns eat most of his salary and we don't give away any higher round picks. Start him over Sam and let him play out this year draft a LT at 6. If he struggles we look at next year's draft for our guy. Low risk move that should be an instant upgrade over Sam plus give us a solid OL.
  6. I think he is also more laid back and doesn't have that nastiness you look for in OL. He is very talented and can still be great, but if you give Neal's Icky's meanstreak you would have one hell of a LT.
  7. He wants to get paid and seems to get injured a good bit. We already paid Moore and Anderson (dumb move), so I doubt he comes here. I really want to see what Marshall does this year.
  8. And he will say. "I pay you to carry my golf clubs. Now shut up and do your job!"
  9. I get our HC isn't that good and is on the hot seat. However, McAdoo has experience and is a decent OC, Campen is a great OL coach and we already added several pieces to our OL. Moore, CMC (when healthy) are two top tier weapons. Anderson is hot/cold average WR but not the worst number 2 option. I don't see how we are the worst place for a young QB to go. I get not wanting us to get Willis because he still needs a lot of work, but I think Howell/Corral can be fine here. Most rookies don't light it up their rookie years anyway.
  10. His rookie year, playing for the worst team in the league that just drafted him number 1 overall he put up better numbers than Sam ever has. 3700 yards 27 TDs 14 INTs. He is not a super star, but way better than Sam.
  11. Yeah Baker’s rookie season with 3700 yards 27 TDs 14 INTs was better than anything Darnold has done. That was playing for the worst team in the league. 2/4 years he was good and he played hurt last year (still put up better numbers than Darnold) while losing Beckham mid season and Landry and Chubb missed time. He was also sacked more than Sam so there goes the elite OL theory. He is a pretty high upgrade over Darnold because he is actually a capable starter. It’s really not that debatable. Darnold is complete garbage…
  12. It’s funny because he had the same cast that Teddy did with us and made our offense look so bad our OC got fired. He is constantly in the bottom of the league for QB rating and stats. Baker went to the worst team in the league and had them in the playoffs in several years. Everyone knows why you won’t pull up 2020’s stats when both QBs were healthy. Darnold was IRed this year when he was hurt and Baker tried to play through his. So you can cherry pick stats (where Baker still was better ), put up random video clips, but he is much better than Sam. The sad thing is, I’m not even saying Baker is great, he is middle of the pack average with a little potential. Sam is just that bad that Baker would be a upgrade.
  13. Now do the year they were both healthy. Do you not want to, because it ruins your argument?
  14. I think Baker is an average QB in the league who could still get a little better. Darnold is at the very bottom…
  15. Lol you are comparing Baker with his injured shoulder and he STILL tops Darnold. Ok now do the previous year when he was healthy…
  16. That's the waiting game we are playing. He may chose to go be a backup somewhere like Mitch did at Buffalo vs sign with us. If we can get him for a later round pick AND they eat most his salary (like Denver did to us with Teddy) then that might be the best route to take. I believe the Teddy/Denver trade happened right before the draft so maybe this is the window to strike...
  17. When healthy he took the Browns to their first playoff game in a long time. Just because he liked them over him in the draft doesn't mean he still does after he sees how they developed. You have to look at our options. 1. Roll with Sam again with an improved OL (drafting a LT at 6) 2. Roll with a rookie in a class that needs developing (is rookie Pickett an upgrade?). Plus you would lose the 6th pick option of drafting a LT. 3. Pray some team trades down with you in a draft that doesn't have a bonified top 10 talent gap. You lose the 6th pick LT again here. 4. Roll with Baker for cheap and draft your LT at 6. Baker > Darnold and it's not close really. Plus our OL should be solid for a while if we draft a LT at 6. This significantly upgrades our two weakest positions. If Rhule is looking to win now this is the best option IMO. It also allows us to easily move on from Baker and draft a QB next year to play behind a solid OL. It's a good short term/long term play really...
  18. If we can get him for something like next year’s 3rd/4th and this year’s 6th and they eat at least half his salary I’d be ok. Grab Neal/Icky/Cross at 6 and a project like Glass late in the draft. Our QB depth can be Baker, Sam, Glass (or Glass can go to practice squad), and our OL will be as solid (on paper) as it’s been in a while. If it blows up Baker is a FA next year and we have a nice crop of QBs in the draft to look at with most of our picks still available. Meanwhile Glass can be developing into a backup with some potential for the next year.
  19. His best magic trick is making our offensive possession disappear.
  20. It will be interesting to see his 2020 numbers in the same metric. His OL did much better than year and he had a couple weapons to work with...
