But our defense would be as bad as our offense. We would allow 40 plus a game…

We would be a top 5 offense in total yards, but average in points scored…

On a side note I feel some of the positions can be filled pretty cheap. Move Chinn back to LB with Shaq where he thrived and let Kenny Robinson play FS with Franklin or Burris at SS. KR is really our best coverage FS and Chinn played better at LB. Have Nixon, Hoskins, and Roy battle it out for the other DT job next to Brown (I think Nixon has some potential). If we roll with BC, Brown, and Moton we need to keep them at their natural positions and stop shuffling around the OL. However, most importantly we need to take away Rhule’s roster control so he doesn’t ruin it for the next guy.

All makes sense. The worst part is, we don’t have many draft picks either… The Darnold move is just a complete cluster. We should have Fields or Mac right now (locked in a rookie contract) with and extra $18.5 million and all of our picks available to patch up our offensive line. If RA doesn’t bounce back we can cut him in 2023 with a 3.8 dead cap hit with a net increase of around 12 million so that one isn’t as crazy.

I’d expect a contract for a top OL for us to be loaded more on the 2nd year than the first, but a lot of these teams manage to push it down the road every year. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t won’t Rhule handling any long term contracts, but I wouldn’t stress too much about our cap. I only see 2 big contracts Gilmore and Tomlinson. A journeyman QB shouldn’t cost that much, but there is going to be some cap movement whether we like it or not. Personally, Im for throwing money at a OL like Schreff or Tomlinson and rolling with Horn, CJ, Bouye, Taylor, Pride, and SOT at CBs (If we can get Gilmore on a cheap deal maybe, but not necessary). Let Reddick walk (Burns is similarly and it lets YGM get some much needed snaps). If we have a decent OC (doesn’t look like we will) I’m ok with drafting a QB if they feel there is one worth drafting. If not then draft the best OL and roll with BC, FA, draft pick, Brown, and Moton if possible assuming they can play their natural positions. If Mariotta or Mitch can be had for the right price, bring them in to compete with Sam. If not draft a late round QB to develop. The problem is most reasonable solutions aren’t going to see immediate results and Rhule needs immediate results so his process is going to be unreasonable… What are you thinking?

I think Pickett can be a Mac Jones with more mobility and perhaps a stronger arm. I don’t think he will be in a good spot with Rhule as his coach. I mean even Lawrence/Fields struggled with bad coaches…

I could see that, but I think Tua would have just got hurt with our line/coaching.

I think Flores with our talent on defense would be a playoff team. If he hires a good OC, we could get dangerous in a year or two. Tua wasn’t anything special this year, had a terrible OL like us and I feel like we have more talent on defense/overall than that Dolphins team.

OR we could be a playoff team by firing Rhule and hiring Flores. Seems a lot easier?

I was ok with QB until we kept Rhule. I don’t want him picking his guy or coaching a young QB. If we land this “rockstar” OC and he has a lot of influence, my opinion might change…

Makes you wonder why he was on Cooper a week or 2 after we traded for him with an injury…

I wouldn’t mind Gilmore staying to mentor, but not for stupid money. We aren’t competing next year so why not develop these young guys?

I was about to say this. He will be a nice vet to play with Henderson, Horn, Taylor, SOT, and Pride.

That would be a good long term plan, but short term it leaves Sam at QB. Rhule is definitely on the hot seat, so I don’t see him going long term (which is why it was dumb we didn’t fire him).

CJ Stroud might give him a run for his money. I like KJ at Arkansas, but he won’t be that high. Murray seemed to have a stronger arm and run faster, but maybe I’m wrong…

Young seems small. Do you think we take him at 1 next year?
