Rapoport and Pelissero talk head coach openings
ForJimmy replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
Leftwich struggled this year without Arians. He may get some interviews but I’d be surprised if anyone gives him the job. -
That's fair, but I also think Rosen was suppose to be much more "pro ready" than AR is right now.
-
The only problem I see is he is going to be a question mark still after a year. Remember it took Allen 2 years to look the part. So if we have AR and he struggles (as expected) do we still just draft Williams or Maye?
-
You would be surprised. I could see a team using AR in a simplistic running offense and letting him grow in it. The Bills rolled with Allen before he was ready and just let him struggle for a year or two. I could also see a team drafting him high with a bridge QB. Most teams will have some sort of capable starter before the draft because you don’t know if a QB will be available or not when you pick.

It could happen. Teams could fall in love with Levis or Richardson (especially after the underwear Olympics) and he could fall like Fields did.

What if Stroud falls to us? Would you roll with him?

So How did Norman and Darnold play?
ForJimmy replied to YourLastThought's topic in Carolina Panthers
Backup/bridge on a decent contract seems perfect for how he has played. He definitely elevated his play, but showed he still struggles under pressure and when the defense knows a pass is coming. Signing him as the future QB will just set us up for more seasons like this. -

Darnold played decent until the pressure was on him. He had a couple INTs get dropped and DJ bailed him out if several high/low throws. Our secondary was banged up and when we needed a final drive he struggled. DJ got OPI to prevent another easy INT. What I gathered is Sam can play well when there is no pressure for him to perform and the defense isn’t playing the pass. That’s ok for a backup, but the people on here thinking he is ready to be our guy next year are setting themselves up for disappointment. -
I don’t think there is a prospect worth 3 first round picks which seems to be the asking price anymore. Giving up next year’s plus a little extra for the right prospect is a big of a risk as I’d want to take.

We do have DJax and Horn coming back granted they are always injured, but I think that keeps CB from being an early round pick. DE is a huge need though…
-
Did he blame Darnold in the presser? I missed that...

Tepper was looking that way with Rhule but firing him this season gave me some faith in him. He will keep trying until we get it right I think…

Oh I know. I was just curious if it was more Wilks or Darnold that would piss you off the most about that move. Wilks with Ben Johnson or Pep Hamilton plus an experienced, successful DC would be interesting. I don’t think Wilks would roll with Darnold as the answer. He was pretty adamant about wanting to trade up and draft his QB when he was at Arizona. Also the look in his face when Darnold threw that pick and fumbled the snap was pretty telling he isn’t sold on him…

All because their dumb ass owner likes Saturday as a person. What a terrible franchise. Between Peyton Manning and Andrew Luck they have what one Super Bowl win??
-
What if it’s Wilks with his own staff and a different QB?
-
We had 8 QB hits and 3 sacks. That’s not terrible. The problem was our secondary was banged up.

How good is Brian Burns 2022 campaign?
ForJimmy replied to micnificent28's topic in Carolina Panthers
They only averaged 2.7 yards a carry and 67 total rushing yards so it looks like he kept in gap in control for run defense? -
If you aren’t crazy about the QBs in this draft then yeah that makes sense. If you are waiting on a perfect roster to draft one you might be waiting a while.

Big time players show up in big time games

Both of our OTs recorded a tackle.
