No problem. The NIL is helping these mid tier prospects stay in school longer.
-
Both are returning next year.

Wait wait wait... He posted 3 "cherry picked" elite throws for Sam Darnold and 1 of the 3 wasn't even Sam throwing?!? I didn't even catch that! You can't make this poo up!
-
Interviews will be huge for AR and Levis. If either of them have the Zack Wilson ego issue stay far away. From what I've read both seem to be great locker room leaders.

Those are good throws in the NFL, but I don't see anything "elite?" Honestly the first two were toss up where his WR made a nice catch. Again I'm not down on him for it, it's what QBs do a lot at this level. Toss it up and let your playmaker make a play. Honestly I think we have just seen such shitty QB play that this looks great to us. I'm the most impressed with Sam being able to throw the ball away and play mistake free football over these throws to be honest. If he can keep it TOs low like he is doing he shouldn't have trouble as a bridge or backup QB in the league. I just don't want us rolling into next year banking on Sam's brain being ready to take the next leap in development. The style of football we are playing is a good way to hide a QB that isn't ready to read a full defense yet. As someone already mentioned it's perfect for a rookie to get comfortable and it's similar to what the Bears are running with Fields who still is pretty raw as a passer when it comes to reading a defense. -on a side note are all three of these catches by TMJ? He has some real potential. We need to start throwing his way more these next couple games.

I see him as a Richardson top with not as high of a ceiling, but a higher floor. He isn’t as fast or big as AR, but is further along as a passer. He had a decent year last year. Both players were on rosters very outmatched in SEC competition with Levis’s OL being a complete disaster. Both OC’s didn’t know how to use them either.
-
His arm is great! We just haven’t asked him to do too much with it this year for a reason. I just don’t think this year shows his mind has caught up. It’s a conservative, safe, mostly one read passing offense by design. Arm strength is there, but it was also there for Baker…

Everyone wanted Burrow and he wasn’t for sale.

I’m curious about Levis. I don’t think he will be as bad as people are thinking. He has a lot of good tools to work with, but I’m wrong more than I’m right so what do I know???

That was @SizzleBuzz’s alias on social media.

Sam has been a solid game manager especially when the running game is rolling. People claiming he is making constant “elite throws” are setting themselves up for disappointment while being a little dishonest. People are throwing around that “elite” word when referring to some basic NFL level passes. One was already claiming he is much better than peak Alex Smith with Andy Reid. I’m just checking some of these posts and having a more realistic approach.

I don’t think anyone hates Darnold or wants him to fail. Some people like myself don’t want him as our main option because we have already fallen for that trick once. Cheap backup great, and I hope he lights it up. Odds are against him for a full turn around and we better plan accordingly.
-
He made 15 completions last game and 14 the game before. I saw several dump offs to the check down. Let’s not pretend like he is making Josh Allen throws on a consistent level every game. Look on ESPN and other sports news sources. They all are talking about our running game because that’s our main focus.
-
A power running offense is a nice way to get a rookie comfortable on this level. The hope is they will develop into something special. Imagine AR mixed in with our running offense for example. It’s not a long term plan for him, but a good way to a young rookie on the field early. It’s kind of how the Niners are playing Purdy.
-
Corral should be in the mix, but I wouldn’t let a 3rd round rookie from a previous coach that has been on IR have much weight on any QB decision. He is a nice luxury to have and if he can develop then it’s a great bonus.

This is where it gets hard to take you seriously. So far Sam has been a decent game manager with a strong rushing game. Smith was a much better game manager than Darnold has been so far. You cherry pick one throw and act like that somehow proves he is a better QB. I’m sure Jamarcus Russell made an elite throw or two, but you have to look at the entire body of work….
-
Mac looked decent with an actual OC and Fields has flashed with very little around him. The arrow is trending up for Fields, but he still a working progress.
-
A first round QB is going to be treated like the future at the position. Of course the vet starts at the depth chart, but when the rookie is ready he will get his shot unless Darnold becomes Brady in one offseason. Smith wasn’t playing bad when Mahomes was worked into the lineup. It takes some elite play to prevent a first round pick from getting his chance.
-
The REAL question is, Is Darnold developing McAdoo????
-
Seems high. For how many years??
-
Depends on how he wins us the game. The Chiefs moved on from Smith to Mahomes because they knew they needed more than a game manager to win it all and be a constant threat. Hell they even traded up for Mahomes (who was pretty raw and had a huge ceiling) 2020 Panthers pick up Sam's 5th year and pass on Jones and Fields 2022 Panthers going to extend Sam and pass on another QB again??? Let's not keep repeating our mistakes.... Our very recent mistakes.
