Also (just playing Devil's Advocate) how does it look is AR is playing on OSU's roster and vice versa??
-
I think it takes several 1st round picks to move up though… Stroud is the safer pick, but if he busts you are screwed from the investment. Basically at least 3 1st rounders if you include this year’s.
-
Stay at 8 and get AR. 1. We don't lose any future picks 2. AR has the highest upside in this draft 3. Stroud is a good passer, but still a bit of a project. If we are going the project route it's go big or go home for me. 4. Seeing how terrible Florida played with AR against a PAC12 defense helped prove just how bad that team was around AR. He is the only thing that made them look halfway decent...

Moton had a knee injury that was limiting him in like week 2. I think what people are saying is if a player (especially OL) gets a serious injury in the season, they really never get back to 100% that season. Look at DJax battling that hamstring and then he goes to IR. We all know Herbert is still injured even though he is fully cleared to play. Rodgers has several as well.

Yeah if we can't resign Boze, we better draft a center early. If we are in fact drafting a QB, a decent center will go a long way in his development.

No I was just asking. It seems like you want Wilks and I know you like Corral. The whole "unfortunately" remark made me think you still want Wilks. -

So you want the same HC and same QBs (Corral and Sam) next year? -
I think the needle is pointing up for Fields. He is carrying Chicago's offense and about the only positive about that team. Give him some weapons and see if he can turn some of these games into some wins next year. I might even go as far as saying I'd take him at his current state vs any QB in this draft.

Attacking “glass half full” posters after a loss…

This takes the credit away from his wins as well then. Just load up the OL and run the ball while playing soft zone not matter the opponent, no matter the outcome. If a coach can't attempt to make adjustments then then he doesn't really impress me once. Go down swinging, let Darnold have a shot at airing it out if they are crowding the line, Keep Chinn at LB, spread out the defense a few plays and if one hits, it's a home run. Playing conversate "not to lose" football usually ends up losing anyway so what's the point?? Pitt was able to stay the course because it was working. 156 rushing yards and 3 rushing TDs shows that. I've seen Tomlin let Mitch try to air it out when the running game was stopped (he failed, but he at least attempted to chance his game plan). Even if you have a 10% chance of it working it's better to aim for that vs the 0% chance of continuing the play that isn't working. Same Panthers different HC... -
I think Wilks has been told he has the job. (Speculation)

As usual I think you are spot on. -

You’re right. No team is going to willingly tank and I kind of don’t blame them… -

I think he is saying Wilks may not have these great motivational skills people are claiming he does. Sure they were fired up for a few games (probably because Rhule was gone), but in a game where you are getting outcoached and no adjustments are made, it's hard for players to stay super pumped/motivated. They can only ride they wave for so long IMO. Preparation, adjustment, playing your roster to it's strengths can go much longer than simply trying to pump up your players. -

I'm sorry but there isn't some huge talent game between the Panthers and the Steelers (this year). They could use the excuse all day of not having the personnel, but that doesn't mean you don't attempt to spread out that defense to open up the running game. Make some sort of adjustment. I mean has he tried sending Higgins out there since his WRs were struggling to get open in McAdoo's boring system? It fits way more into the mindset is cut form the same cloth as Rivera, Fox, etc... He likes to run the ball and lean on his defense (which is his specialty). It's a conservative boring style of play in which WRs, and QBs will struggle to develop. -

Even if he is staying why wouldn't he make any adjustments? I mean he still wants to win games right? -
Yep. A decent QB AND a decent OC can make a world of difference.
-
How can we fairly judge these weapons when we have with McAdoo designing and calling the plays? TMJ was a stud on that loaded LSU team, Moore passed 1000 yards every year with poo for QBs and OCs. A new staff can do wonders for some of these young guys. Hell we don’t even use Higgins who was and decent option in the Browns offense.
-
I definitely see what you are saying but our rookie is more than likely going to struggling his rookie year anyway. Especially if we draft AR or Levis. The offense will need to be simplified if they are even going to play year one at all. Lawrence, Jones, Fields, and Burrow didn’t have many weapons their rookie year. Hell some of those guys (not named Burrow) still have few weapons. We are going to also have more draft picks (especially after that CMC trade) to acquire some weapons.Normally bad teams are getting these top picks.

So first we needed a good OL before considering drafting a QB. Now we need an arsenal of weapons for him first? Why are people so worried about us drafting one? It has to be done. We have to find a QB then build around him. If we start building too good of a roster first we could be stuck in Colts land. A good OC can scheme some of our guys open. We do need to draft a TE early, but we are far from the worst place for a rookie QB to play providing we land a good coach.
-
He said he wanted Brady before he was drafted. Easiest way to tell he is full of poo…
-
Why??? Why were they running the lateral plays when they were tied??
-
I can’t believe we have actual posters on this board that are wanting to roll into next year with Darnold and Wilks…
