  1. Except us with Cam… We can be a pretty frustrating franchise.
  2. So the Jags have a better coach, QB, and OL (soon enough) than us by a pretty wide margin…. I’m actually jealous of the Jags right now.
  3. You wanted experience, here is an old guy!
  4. Yeah as good as it looks, I don’t see a team trading up for Leal…
  5. Yeah Herbert underperformed, Mahomes mad bad throws and was a system QB, Allen couldn’t read a defense, Watson had too many turnovers….
  6. Noooooo. Not Darnold again…. Please give me Mitch, Mariotta, Minshew anyone but him. Honestly if Mitch comes cheap he wouldn’t be the worst idea providing we draft OL, sign FA OL, and develop our own OL. OL, OL, OL or OLOLOL.
  7. There was no way for him to show improvement on that in the Senior Bowl Practices. I know he had a poo OL and not much talent to work with at Liberty and still beat Syracuse, VA Tech, won a shoot out against McCall (who people are wanting) at Coastal. Yeah he looked bad against Ole Miss and that SEC defense, but I’m not sure what he could have done given what he was working with.
  8. https://www.profootballnetwork.com/2022-senior-bowl-practice-risers-sliders-final/ They stated that Howell and Willis looked great at practice. He did say Malik started off with some fastballs but settled down quickly. WOW was posting these practice clips/comments as they were happening. -The practice is more important than the game. Ok here is where Willis dominated practice. He only looked good because the others sucked. I understand you not wanting a QB this year. There is no clear cut favorite QB and our line needs a lot of work. Plus Rhule is still our coach. However, you can’t change the narrative of Willis crushing the practices. He did what he needed to do.
  9. He will have them measured before the draft. Honestly it’s just trolling them at this point. Burrow’s are 9 Pickett’s will probably be 8.5 and everyone will freak out.
  10. If you are looking at practices, Willis stole the show. We had a few threads of nothing but praise about him. They were calling day 2 “Willis Day.”
  11. That would mean a great coach realizes they have potential to be a good QB in this league though? These guys are all busts remember?
  12. I really would consider anyone’s Senior Bowl performance into much consideration. You have a week to practice with all new players and staff and a lot of the OL didn’t show up, instantly collapsing on Howell (he is probably use to that). The Senior Bowl is just another version of the combine with interviews and practices for coaches to get to see these players up close. If you are going by performances (which I wouldn’t) Pickett was had 0 incompletions and a TD. I think Howell and Willis have some good traits that could translate well in the NFL. Pickett could be solid too. They all need coaching/development which is pretty normal. Last year’s loaded class didn’t look so hot their rookie year (outside of Mac). Willis and Howell have both been mentioned as film room guys, but when the line falls backwards on you they couldn’t really go through progressions and develop further. They had to force throws and run a lot more putting the team on their backs. They still had decent seasons all things considered. My best case scenario would be a trade down and walk away with Howell/Willis (I know that’s probably not going to happen). Just wait the Steelers will take one of these QBs like the Pats did last year and we will be whining stating they went to a perfect scenario when they start looking good.
  13. Sam Howell was projected to be a top pick after his 2020 season and Willis was highly ranked as well. So what exactly happened? Is that talent and ability suddenly gone? Or maybe UNC and Liberty (as historically strong football programs…) failed at developing these young signal callers and recruiting OL and weapons to come in so they wouldn’t have to carry their teams on their backs. On the other side Corral and Pickett were draft prospects after year 2020 who did make the jump and develop into bettter QBs, and there is no reason to think they won’t continue to do so. I’ve read Herbert was garbage and underperformed at Oregon, Mac Jones was a backup at best, Josh Allen was raw and didn’t know how to read a defense, Patrick Mahomes was a system QB at Texas Tech, Kyler Murray was too small to play in the NFL. It’s definitely a gamble and guessing game, but if there is a QB that has traits you like and you believe your staff can further develop him into a franchise QB it would be hard not to take that gamble. The potential benefit can very much outshine the cost. Finding your QB might be the most important job of a GM/Head Coach in today’s NFL. The same people who are hating on Willis and this group will start back peddling if they go to a franchise like the Steelers that is ran correctly.
  14. Just out if curiosity why do you think he is a game manager? Again he isn’t my top pick or even top QB pick, but you aren’t the first person that said this and I’m just wondering where it came from. He took a Pitt team and put up huge numbers while winning the ACC championship with them (yea I now the ACC had a down year). I wouldn’t think Pitt has the same level recruits as a lot of the other schools, maybe middle of the pack? That makes me think he is outplaying his competition and elevating his team.
  15. From a logic standpoint I would say Rhule thought Darnold was as good as any rookie in the 2021 draft so he passed on Mac and Fields for Horn. I would imagine he knows he was wrong and once again we need a QB so if the opportunity to draft another Mac Jones or any young QB with upside presents itself again, he would look at it much differently. Then again logic and Rhule really don’t go together…
  16. Exactly. Smart QBs can use anticipation and trajectory to get the ball down the field to their deeper targets. Brees was never known for his arm strength, but was adequate enough and very accurate. Peyton was smart enough to run an offense to Brees’s strengths.
  17. Yeah “banking” on finding your guy in next year’s class is also risky business. We don’t know where we will be picking and how the class will look after the season ends. I think the theory is there might not be any decent options this year, so just take care of other needs with a more sure thing like LT. It’s not a terrible way of thinking, but I’m not sure Rhule lets his career ride on another year of Darnold…
