I get it, but the counter is Strong had Nevada OL and Nevada weapons all season to work with. If he was playing with top talent like Alabama or UGA, this stat line would be more embarrassing. It’s what holds back Willis also. Willis’s OL couldn’t block bottom tier schools and people wonder why he looked bad against Ole Miss…

I agree 100%. Let Horn, Henderson, Bouye, Taylor and maybe a cheap vet hold down the CB spots and Burns/YGM/Fox rotate out for DE. No need to overpay for vets at this stage in our team development. Plus we might get some comps.

It’s a little misleading the 206 is total picks and then it is broken down to round 1 only. A lot of it depends on where you pick too. A late 1st rounder on a LB can have good value IMO. Luke was picked high, but I think him being a generational talent makes up for it. We have ignored OL for a while now and it’s shameful. I mean our LT hasn’t been really addressed since Gross retired. We tried with Kalil and Oher, but no luck. Hopefully Fitt/Rhule/whoever is making the calls gives some major attention to the OL soon.

If they do then one of the 3 LTs or 2 Pass Rushers should fall to us.

That’s kind of how I feel. He is a first rounder, solid QB. If someone drafts him at 12 no one would care, but 6 spots for your starting QB and people freak out. Assuming we can land a talent in FA on the OL, he isn’t the worst pick IMO. Pitt was playing at a high level with him as their leader, if that can translate to the next level if could pay dividends.

DJ’s skillset in a Shanahan offense would be deadly.

The Rams were a playoff team that made a couple runs before they went all in. We would need to be a consistent playoff threat that was missing a piece to two before we consider this approach.

The scariest thing would be knowing Rhule would get fleeced on the trade and be responsible for developing the players we develop with the picks….

He is our best WR by a good margin. I kind of want him to stay, but if he gets us the right return I get it. Robby needs to be traded, but his contract is too high.

One could argue the Bengals/Cards/Bills didn’t have that until they found their QB. I do get what you are saying though.

Mariotta did, but he had been healthy these past two years as a backup (not really playing). Plus you won’t find a perfect candidate as a FA.

If we draft and sign OL, I kind of like Mariotta or Mitch running the show until we draft one to learn under them next year.
