  1. Who were Sam’s receivers in college that made him appear so great? I don’t recall USC having anyone that great in 2017, but I definitely could be overlooking some players...
  2. I think he was implying the bar isn’t high for Darnold to have a career year. His best year’s numbers should be passed easily.
  3. He knows he was proven wrong and is trying hard to pivot to Luke’s career which isn’t even a debate.
  4. No one is saying he wasn’t a great HOF MLB. You are pivoting because I showed you scouts didn’t have him as a perfect prospect. I mean it’s a video of Luke himself reading it. So clearly some fans could have listened to similar scouts and been disappointed at the pick when it happened. He turned out to be one of the NFL’s best players, but that’s not what you were debating.
  5. https://www.google.com/amp/s/pantherswire.usatoday.com/2018/02/02/watch-luke-kuechly-reads-his-ridiculous-nfl-draft-profile/amp/ I mean just Google this poo and stop trying to troll. Here is Luke reading his draft profile about “inflated stats” “lack of speed” and “poor strength” just go to the Bears forum and stay attached to Fields’ nuts.
  6. True. The big thing about Marshall is health. If he can stay healthy I think he has the tools to be a solid number 2 and nice red zone target.
  7. Depth and future starters. Marshall can easily work his way to the slot this year and take Robbie’s spot the following year with Shi having a shot at slot. Christensen could be our LG late this year/next year. Taylor is a bit of a project, but could be our CB2 in a few years. Also Brown might have the RG spot sooner vs later. Young potential depth that have shots at taking over starting gigs.
  8. You were the main person saying smokescreens don’t happen often. Not saying I agree with that or not. People on here, not just you, throw up one source like it’s the honest truth and disregard others because it makes them look wrong. Honestly the best approach is to take clues and contexts from events that actually happen and drawing your own conclusion. We will more that likely never know what really happened. For example, Carolina wanting Darnold from the beginning is something this team wants to sale for obvious reasons, but it just doesn’t really line up with how events unfolded.
  9. Plenty of “sources” claimed we were interested in drafting a QB with the 8th pick, including our very own GM. That was shown to be inaccurate from our “behind the scenes” video. Also plenty of stories will get leaked or released to us fans to push team narratives. These teams have a professional team of PR people that know what they are doing. Claiming one is exactly how it happened and dismissing others seems a bit naive, that’s all...
  10. Trying to play it off... real smooth.
  11. Yeah, at the end of the day none of us know what’s going on behind the scenes no matter what the journalists feed us. Unless one of these posters are really Rhule, Fitts, or Tepper all we can really do is speculate based on what’s “leaked” to us.
  12. Yeah very good point, they went with what they had while addressing another major need (cb), and passed on the 4th QB in this draft. I mean just as bad as Teddy not having a 4th quarter win in his many opportunities, getting off the field on 3rd down might have been our biggest issue. Horn helps fix that issue more than any other player they could have drafted. So they passed on the 4th QB to address our arguably biggest need. Rhule has already said that Darnold let’s us go BPA in the draft and that’s what they did.
  13. The silver does seem a little dated. Even a matte grey would look better...
  14. In his defense he was against Teddy originally and seemed to be pretty spot on. It’s ok to have doubt about a player, especially reasonable doubt backed by data. It’s not like he is wanting Darnold to fail, just skeptical...
  15. My point was there were no FA/trade targets left. Relying on the draft with pick 8 knowing 1-3 are QBs is a very risky game. They secured Darnold vs playing that game IMO. The fact that we heated up the conversation AFTER the Niners moved up to 3 kind of gives it away for me. The good news is Fields and Mac were available and we were confident enough in Darnold to address another need instead.
  16. It still doesn’t clarify much. Did we talk to their GM in Feb sure. I’m sure every GM Fitt is near, he is speaking to (if he is halfway decent at his job). Rhule was high on Darnold obviously that’s why the trade happened, but was he higher on other players? Who the hell knows except obviously he was higher on Stafford. Tell me this, if we missed on Darnold who was our next FA/trade target for the QB position? The draft is too risky and the trade officially happened AFTER the Niners traded their future away for pick 3.
  17. That’s my point. Breer was WRONG in this article and it’s now officially proven. You can’t take any of these reports as the gospel, not even Breer.
  18. 1. They don’t want to start a Fields vs Darnold debate all year (looks like it’s happening anyway) 2. They don’t want Darnold thinking he was ever in doubt. Confidence is crucial in a young player that was just destroyed by a terrible team these past few years.
  19. How can you possibly know it wasn’t the last? We didn’t offer anyone else afterwards so it technically was last, but no one else good was really available... Your guy Albert Breer who we are suppose to 100% believe in this story was helping push the we might draft a QB story as well. I doubt any of us will know the whole story. I’m not taking one side other than he clearly wasn’t our first. But we should we sit here and believe one journalist and write off another sometimes same journalist article? https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.si.com/.amp/nfl/2021/04/12/carolina-panthers-sam-darnold-quarterback-nfl-draft
  20. I feel like my parents are fighting...
  21. Darnold was definitely not our first or second choice. Fitts being in on every deal is why we were talking to the Jets early. (Which we thought a second was too much for him originally) I’m sure he has spoke with half of the teams about potential trade targets. I’m feeling a little optimistic about Darnold, but I’m not delusional in thinking we wanted him first the whole time.
