Push To The Superbowl Panthers Lions GameDay Thread

Jaycee injury looks bad, broken hand? -
Best available QB at 8th whoever that is. We need to keep trying until we hit, no choice
-
Yep, last time we were this hyped was last year when we were 3-0 was thinking we’re going to the Super Bowl. Then Sam Darnold, and the entire team just fell flat on its face. The only difference is now its Wilksinstead of Rhule, but I still don’t trust that Sam Darnold won’t fold under pressure.
-
Yet Trey Lance has not performed
-
What’s with the poo reactions, just saying for a 7th rounder he has done more than most first rounders. He is more reliable, accurate and poised than Darnold or Walker.
-
Damn, we should’ve included this kid in the CMC trade package. I know it’s a great offense, but I am impressed by his ability to step in and make it look easy.
-
There is a good vibe about the team right now. They’re playing hard, physical and seem to rally behind Wilks and are winning more despite deficiencies with offensive playcalling and quarterbacks. That’s not something you just take away, you keep Wilks and let him build on it
-
To bring the energy back to the stadium and keep the ugly yellow towels out of it
-
Not sure what you’re saying. Typically, defensive guys would have just settled for a field goal and he was actually being aggressive and trusting that the defense would take advantage of the field position. Having been burned by Rhule I am good with giving Wilks, a known commodity, a three year contract provided he brings on better coaching staff to handle the offense while staying true to the team’s identity as a physical team.
-
Rivera team would have laid an egg after a bye week. Wilks had his team ready to go and win a tough road game against a good team. They’re not the same. He can’t open up the pass game until two things happen: 1. He has an OC who has a better passing scheme while still being a running team 2. he has a QB who can make downfield throws consistently and not turn the ball over
-
I agree, he is a WR1, was just expressing concern about lack of focus or effort. That said, Darnold was the checkdown king yesterday so maybe that had something to do with it too
-
This is what I think happened too
-
Is at their best again another benefit of not having Rhule micromanaging them instead of worrying about actual football.

I actually think Sam’s throw was fine, DJ was slow coming out of his break
-
Honestly don’t even care anymore. Let’s just roll with Darnold next year
-
DJ Moore really struggled with his route running and getting separation today. I know McAdoo’s scheme sucks but he was really off today, not coming out of his breaks very sharply. I hope his mind is in the right place.

Brock Purdy looking like a legitimate NFL QB, wow
-
Like this? ”Sean’s protection scheme is similar to Bill Callahan’s, who I had in Cleveland,” Mayfield said. “So, the terminology with that, that knocks out a big chunk of the learning curve. And just trying to learn all the motions and the terminology for that — it’s tough. But those guys did a great job of helping me out, communicating with me when I got off the field on the sideline and just talking through the plays that were coming up.”

I am genuinely happy for Baker. He had the most important game of his career last night, literally balled out on two days notice to show that he can still play. I am also still totally fine we let him go because we need to start fresh. Sure, he looked like trash under Rhule and McAdoo. It’s really an indictment of the offensive system and hopefully highlights how important it is to have a great head coach and the right offense. So the narrative is that it was a bad environment and a bad fit and that’s true. However, I still think Baker has several limitations that were exposed that indicate he will never be more than an average QB in this league. I hope we can do better in the upcoming draft.

He was trash with the Panthers for whatever reason, don’t think it’s the receivers, I think he needs a simplified playbook
-
Icky should be offensive rookie of the year

Apparently we’re the place QB’s go to die (metaphorically speaking)

Baker playing well so far, I wish him success
