If by playoff spot you mean not being one of the three worst teams in the nfl, then I might agree with you... Dalton will be a big improvement for us, but we still have a mediocre at best offense with him combined with a poo defense outside of a couple of positions

How did nobody catch this before drafting him?
PleaseCutStewart replied to Knaakedup's topic in Carolina Panthers
Many people actually talked about / mentioned it. I honestly feel like he has just come from privilege his entire life and just assumes he'll be good enough to do anything. I was hoping last year would be a reality check for him, but the guy has no initiative or desire to be great (at least as a quarterback). Again, I'm hoping this benching will be the wake-up call he needs to hit the weight room, do a ton of film study, and work hard in the off-season/practices. But I'm not holding my breath... I think when we finally release him after his 4 years are done with us, some other team will probably pick him up and think they will be the savior he needs. I'm sure they will quickly realize he is beyond repair and isn't talented enough for the NFL and that will probably be the last of Bryce. I'm sure the SEC network will happily hire him though -
I'd actually argue that we have seen a worse version of him from his first game last season...

I honestly lol'ed at people saying that this test isn't something you can't train for. Pretty sure if you keep doing the same type of reaction speed test (or whatever the hell it is) over and over again for over 5 years, you are going to score better than someone who has never taken it before... Much like the Wonderlic, it's a useless test that will probably be completely ignored after seeing how big of a bust Bryce is. The fact that our idiot owner thought this test was more important than athleticism, arm strength, accuracy, footwork/mechanics, etc. is just telling of how clueless he is when it comes to assessing talent in football. Hopefully Tepper learned his lesson and never recommends another player again; unfortunately, he is so narcissistic he probably will never stay out of things and let the experts handle them.

Chase Daniel - Analysis of Bryce vs. Chargers
PleaseCutStewart replied to BIGH2001's topic in Carolina Panthers
Sounds like he is the QB coach Bryce needs - someone that isn't afraid to hurt his feelings by letting him know he is awful at every aspect of football, both physical and mental -

This guy sounds as depressed watching Bryce's film as we are watching Bryce stink it up live.... -

I honestly think we beat the Raiders this Sunday. Perfect spot for us - look like poo the 1st 2 weeks so the Raiders, who just beat the Ravens, won't take us seriously. Also really screws with them because they don't have tape on Dalton in Canales' offense. The Raiders are also one of those teams that do well in the underdog role, not as a big favorite

Does anyone else think our receivers ball out now?
PleaseCutStewart replied to Gapanthersfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think Thielen and Diontae have good games. Both WRs are just the type of receiver for Dalton - good zone buster, short/medium route runner WRs that know how to get open for Dalton to get it to them quickly. Hopefully we see some deep throws to Legette also from Dalton. -
Bryce was so bad that I think the new standard for a bad play by a QB will be "(insert QB) just went full Bryce"
-
Seeing as how the Saints almost beat the Cowboys by 30 at their house, maybe that loss wasn't as bad as I thought... I honestly think both sides of the ball just quit after realizing how much Bryce sucked. I could see better effort/desire out of our team against the Raiders this week (unless Dalton sucks as bad as Bryce does).
-
Also, I think this change happened because I honestly think the locker room would have revolted if they kept trotting Bryce out there. Literally our top 2 receivers were pissed at Bryce and had to say some ho-hum I didn't mean nonsense. I gotta imagine this is how the Jets felt last year with Zach Wilson at QB.
-
Ummm, seeing how he forced Reich to draft Bryce, I would probably say otherwise. I think Tepper hired him hoping he could be the QB whisperer that fixed Baker, but Canales probably quickly realized there is no fixing Young. I honestly think Dalton is the day 1 starter if Bryce wasn't the #1 pick from last year that we traded a kings ransom to get and it was a true open competition in training camp/preseason.

Dalton's Last Season as a Starter
PleaseCutStewart replied to UNCrules2187's topic in Carolina Panthers
I honestly thought he played really well in the Seattle game despite our D having arguably their worst game of the year and having zilcho run game. -

The defense is playing like crap because most of the players on D aren't worth a crap. And that is something we knew when we lost as much talent as we did and spent all of our FA money on offense. I could care less about the D - what I want to see is how good our receivers/TEs/RBs/oline will look now that they have a somewhat competent QB back there.

Andy Dalton looked way better in 1 start than Bryce did in 19 games... Granted, I think I could go to a random no-name FCS school and see a better QB, so that isn't saying much. Nobody here thinks we are now a superbowl contender by going to Dalton. But now, we have hopes of being within single digits late in the game; not being down 30 and knowing that even if they played an extra 10 quarters Bryce would never lead the team to 30 points.

Wow, if that isn't a "I give up on this bum" type of answer, I don't know what is. This is leading me to believe that he hasn't been working hard if a coach says this during a presser
