Ummmmm, no. Plenty of centers will be around in rounds 3 and 4. Unless one of the stud LB or edges drop (or Downs), it is hopefully one of the following: OT (Mauigoa, Freeling, Fano) DB/S (McCoy, Thieneman) WR (Lemon) LB (Allen)

Luckily they are 3 or 4 good zone blocking centers in this draft, so I think we can potentially find a starter in the third or fourth round.

Looks like we can pretty much go BPA in the 1st round now (if there isn't an OT we love at 19)

The great thing about signing him is that we won't have to be hard pressed to take an edge in the first few rounds. Now we can focus on LB, oline, and corner/safety

Smith-Wade to safety sounds like a terrible idea. Unfortunately the guy just isn't very talented and she honestly be a sub corner or dime back at best

Mesidor. He was doubled a lot the 23-24 season when he was playing DT and was not doubled nearly as much playing DE in 24-25 because Bain got the doubles

He was getting double teamed when he played DT last year. This year he rarely was doubled

I don't know, he looked good for Miami once they stopped forcing him to play DT (which was an insanely stupid thing to do). He also got stuck being doubled teamed an insane number of plays when playing DT. I understand Bain got the most attention, but Mesidor pretty much didn't get blocked 1-on-1 by anybody this season. I don't think there is any way he makes it out of the 1st (unless his medical has red flags) - too many teams picking in the bottom 12 spots want an edge that will be an impact player day 1. Mesidor has the technique and pass rush move variety to contribute day 1 (unlike some of the other edges that are freak athletes but more raw).

I get it's disappointing, but this was definitely a seller's market and the only players traded away were players that would be depth pieces at best for us. A lot of the top teams (Avs, Stars, Lightning, Wild post Hughes) really only traded for depth pieces. Just a terrible trade deadline all around and I'm glad we didn't cave and sell the farm for somebody like Tro (even though I like him and he fits our team well).

He will probably be used sparingly to give guys off days until the playoffs. Can't see him playing in the playoffs for us unless we need a goon out there

I don't think there was any way the Preds were trading O'Reilly unless they received a king's ransom. So probably a similar trade requirement of multiple 1sts and somebody like Nadeau, Blake, or Boom

if Schenn and Roy are getting 1st rounders +, I can only imagine what the hell the Rags are asking for. Wouldn't surprise me if they are asking for Boom + a couple of 1st rounders

We definitely still have a defensive issue. Way too many easy shots from the slot because we have guys chasing along the boards for no reason. Not worried about the 4 goals Bus gave up - 3 of them are not getting saved by pretty much any goalie in the NHL

My lord these prices teams are paying for players. Islanders gave up a haul for Schenn

It's a sellers market. A lot of the trades that have happened have been overpays IMO. While it would be nice to get a 2C, I don't want us trading away our best prospects or our young NHL talent for it

A goon that probably won't be one of our top 12 forwards. Might be brought in if we need physicality or when playing dirty teams like the Panthers

While I'm not opposed to it and do like Blankenship, I'd rather spend the money elsewhere. There are a few cover 1/cover 2 zone type of safeties I like in the draft I think we can get in the mid rounds (Kilgore, Wheatley, Genesis Smith, Clark). I would rather see our money be used at short term LT, edge, 3-tech DT, or LB personally.

Kind of surprised the Raiders are releasing Geno. I'm guessing they are going to throw Mendoza out there week 1 and probably end up killing his career by the start of 2027...
