Agreed. I think both those Mayer and Washington have a reputation of loving to block as well as being big targets. I mean, if it were me making the pick and either of them were there, it would be 1 of them. I think edge is a bigger need though. A speedy wr would almost be a luxury, but I think we might go wr a bit later.

Yes indeed, I would say always be on the lookout for good line on both sides. That said, usually there are good prospects to be had in later rounds for guards.

Darnell Washington TE Georgia. Josh Downs WR UNC BJ Ojulari DE LSU. Drew Sanders LB Arkansas Michael Mayer TE ND From the list given. I don't want 2 TEs, but either of those would be nice to have, but maybe not must haves.

They've had a fascination with skill players throughout Blank's ownership.
-
They sure do. I have no reason to doubt they will make the best of those.
-
Not my money. Don't really care too much. They traded just about everything they had to get there. I suppose I'm too pragmatic and not really a "fug those picks" kind of guy. I know how well a similar move worked out for the Saints a while back.
-
Of course. It's not so much the players as it is the price tag.
-
Personally I think the Texans trade was stupid, but it should be expected since it's the Texans. They aren't a couple of good players away from winning anything.
-
I'm pretty certain it's a 1 year deal. I'm delighted at seeing a division rival flop, but the combo of Mayfield and Trask might be bad enough to get them to the top of the draft or near enough. Robinson has been linked to them, and I think they would take him if he was there, but I don't know how they can't go online otherwise. That unit was not good last year with age and injury. Pass rush is just as big a need. They have none.
-
It is. I don't disagree on that. I would more say, at least what I've been reading on JoeBucsFan, is a little bit of let's give Trask a try or was that just wasted pick.
-
I would be a bit surprised at Richardson to the Bucs. There's a fair amount of talk about how Mayfield will be just fine with the wrs they have, or that Trask should have a fair shot of being the starter. I think tackle might be more of need for them. There could be a deal with White asking for a trade recently.

I think any real sense of hope during the Rhule era was completely dulled in that slog of a second season. That should have been the end of it. That start of the season, winning those games against the Sickly Saints, the Jests starting a rookie, and the Terrible Texans was the only time there was even a glimmer of playoff hopes. Rivera at least made it to the post-season a couple of times.

I think Cam lacked a little bit in touch. There is something to be said though for the quality of supporting cast we had for him. A couple of years of Smith, and Olsen was a mainstay, but after that it was a steep drop-off, either in consistency, quality or both. When he was in his prime though, he was one of the most unique players ever, and was very problematic for defenses. But that was a while ago now. It's unfortunate how things ended.
-
Same here. I think he's a rising star and I would not be shocked to see the Saints take him as a Kamara replacement.
-
Wilson is not a HoFer if he continues his current play. The Brees comparisons would be better. We saw enough of him to know.

Pick #39, don't hold your breath for a WR or TE
UnluckyforSome replied to AU-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
I am expecting a defensive player at 39, assuming there is 1 that fits the spot. There are some good candidates at skill positions that might be around that number, but the wr class looks like a collection of slot guys for the most part. I think Gibbs has a chance to be a good back, but I don't think it's a need for us. So bpa defense is my guess. -
Hurney should certainly get a big, big share of the blame. To tie it all together, flawed Rivera brought him up to DC in some sort of evaluator role. I guess he wanted more of Hurney's stellar draft work.
-
I think it's more suitable to say he wouldn't be a great fit actually. Saying they can't afford him brings so many other variables in to play, along with speculation about players getting cut etc. Rivera has numerous faults and flaws and we are all aware of them. Rake him over the coals for those shortcomings instead.
-
In a very mild defense of Rivera, it's not really too accurate to criticize him over Lamar Jackson, when to this point no other team has stepped up to the table as well.
-
It would benefit his future if he Richardson actually fell down the draft board to a team that wouldn't necessarily have the pressure of playing him immediately. He is about as green as could be, and he will need an environment that will foster some real development. He is not ready to start day 1, or day 2.
-
Agreed. The enthusiasm is great but it's still a tad unwarranted. I mean we haven't even hit training camp and began swooning over roster guys that will be sure-thing difference makers.
